I enjoyed it when they still had the state fair in Lincoln. The rock n roll Runza restaurant that was in downtown. Back in the 1990's Lincoln has some really good car audio shops one being Stereo West.
Nice job as always. Fossil bones discovered by chickens! That was a fun fact you dug up! 😎 With both Omaha and Lincoln completed, I think you you have finished the Nebraska statewide skyscraper scene. Do you always visit or (visited in the past) the city before reporting on their skyscrapers? Thanks!
Thank you!! Yeah unfortunately it looks like I’m done talking about Nebraska skyscrapers for awhile, haha. Good question! I have visited most of the cities I’ve made videos on but I haven’t visited all of them… yet 😉
Also interesting about the longest Main Street. I went to school near island park Idaho. It’s a mountain town with the longest Main Street in the country (not straight though) great vid
Nebraska is also the state where many Native American tribes were forced to settle like the Sioux, Pawnee, and Omaha nations. Actually 60% of the USA’s names of city and states come from Native tribe names 👍🏽
Yep, it's the sower. Spreading new growth to the state. It faces to the NW or towards the most land in the state. The Capitol in general is truly a piece of art. There is a lot of Native American symbolism and art. The whole thing tells a story about the state (from prehistoric to modern times) as well as the history of the USA and of law
Very beautiful view! One question: Does Lincoln have any short mountains in its outskirts or surrounding areas? Just wondering where people go for hiking activities.
Lived in Lincoln for 5 years and never knew O Street had that claim to fame! I always knew it as the place we got stupid drunk on the weekends (and sometimes between classes)
"Meet Lincoln." I think we're about 157 years too late, although I sat next to him on a bench in Niles, IL. I wonder if nineteenth century Nebraskans pronounced Lancaster the same way that Lancaster, PA is pronounced.
Should asian people like me vietnamese move to Nebraska for my parents to retire as well as for my job opportunities?!? 😅😅😅 This state's so cool from fresh and clean air to friendly inhabitants excepting the weather 😩
From everything I’ve read it seems like a great place to live and it’s a more diverse city than you’d expect. Hopefully someone who actually lives there will comment through
Lincoln actually has a decent Vietnamese and Korean population for it's size. I was born and raised there. For retirement it's not bad. My parents retired a couple years ago and live there. Biggest downside for all of Nebraska is that property taxes are some of the highest in the country, but a low cost of living and cheaper housing helps make up for it. As for the job market, it depends. Insurance, education, government, and health care are the biggest and growing. There is also a small, but growing tech scene. Manufacturing is very much lacking, but construction and service industries are strong.
I'll also add that it is a very clean, safe, and fun place to live. The city really shines for people raising a family. High quality education, lots of unique parks and trails, and a beautiful children's zoo are some highlights. Being a college town, downtown is always hopping, especially on game days.
@@EdSeTcin thank you for telling me that Story. Well, I ve never heared anything about Teena Brandon, But I also dont identify as transgender... I am male and gay. Also no tattoos no Piercings, no jewelry... I look very normal. I dont think you ll have a Problem with me.... by the way. Im from Germany, europe. Msny greetings to the US;) 🇩🇪
Stinkin Lincoln. Nebraska is the child only a mother could love. Come here if you love boring fast food. Leave if you're cultured and a human being. #1 worst place i have ever lived. Reminds me of a large trailer park off the highway that you pass and keep going..... Ahhh....dreaming of another place, other than Lincoln..... see you when i get there!
I feel like Boise has a more impressive skyline overall than Lincoln. Lincoln's average is skewed by the capitol being so much taller than any other building in town. Just my 2 cents.
Yeah you’re definitely right about the average being a little skewed by the capitol. I still think it has a better skyline than I was expecting for a city with such a small metro population.
The view of the skyline coming into Lincoln on interstate 180 is very impressive (for the size). Especially now that they just finished the cities new second tallest building on the north end. It's been about 15 years since I've been to Boise, so I won't try to compare
@@kingsledge The new 21-story Lied Place Condominiums you refer to on the north end should also qualify as one of the skinniest skyscrapers around. Each floor only has one side of a hallway, with no condos or building on the other side of the hallway.
I live in Lincoln and I love how someone finally made a video about it
It’s a great city!
That's because there's nothing else to do here.
@CityGeek if you're intoxicated and don't know where you are.
Lol the only reason i looked this video up was because i have been offered a job here and i am debating should i take it
I drove through Lincoln a few years ago and don’t remember anything other than the freakishly good burger I had at Honest Abe’s 🤤
Honest Abe's is the best! Love the theming too
Wow I might have to stop there.
I love Honest Abe’s.
Gott'a get off the Interstate more ;) .
why cant i talk to u ?
I did my PhD studies in Lincoln from 2014-2019 and I loved living there! It is such a great city for the size
I walked around Lincoln and UNL recently and I was pleasantly surprised.
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised as well when I visited Lincoln
They have prettied it up a LOT since I was there in the early- to mid-2010s
Love this video. Lincoln is my hometown.
My grandparents live here thank you for making this!
You bet!

Great video as usual! These always give a great amount of information, really cool.
Thank you! As usual 😉
I love that "Archie" (elephant skeleton) was discovered by chickens!

Great city . Went to architecture school but then moved to Minnesota for my graduate degree and I’ve never been back

I visit Lincoln Nebraska last summer didn't get to see a lot I do want to learn more
Interesting you did a small town like Lincoln! Former Husker here. GOOOOOOO BIIIIIIIIG REEEEEEEED
Nice city, l wanna go
What was the statue on top of the state capital building? It looked cool.
It’s called The Sower. It’s 19 feet tall and I’d agree that it does look pretty cool
Yep, it's the sower. Spreading new growth to the state. It faces to the NW or towards the most land in the state. The Capitol in general is truly a piece of art. Everyone always joked that it was some guy bowling. Actually a really cool structure on the inside and there are observation decks at the top
It's called the Penis of the Plains. The man on top is peeing on everyone.
Thanks!
Do New Brunswick, NJ!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into that!
@@CityGeek do Aurora Colorado
Any chance you can take a trip east of the Missouri River and do an overview on Des Moines as well?
Absolutely! I was actually in Des Moines a couple weeks ago so it's on my list :)
Very beautiful view! One question: Does Lincoln have any short mountains in its outskirts or surrounding areas? Just wondering where people go for hiking activities.
Unfortunately we are in a pretty flat terrain, there isn’t really any hiking but we have fun biking trails that go through heavily wooded areas.
Platte River State Park

Yeah it’s pretty wild!

I did my undergraduate studies in Lincoln, nice city to live in before I moved to Minnesota. Kinda boring and glad to move to Minnesota
What about Wichita, KS. It has a unique history with several museums. And is the air capital.

Can you do a Milwaukee, Wisconsin video pls
Absolutely!

Didn't mention the roller skating museum

Hey, is it also possible to move to lincoln Nebraska as a gay man? Is Nebraska good for gays? My boyfriend and I are about moving to Nebraska...
