- On 31 October 1999, EgyptAir Flight 990 crashes into the Atlantic Ocean while flying from New York City to Cairo, killing all 217 people on board. The cause of the crash is disputed: the Egyptian government claims that the crash was caused by a mechanical failure with the elevators, but the US government claims the aircraft was deliberately crashed by the Relief First Officer Gameel Al-Batouti.

The cause of the crash of EgyptAir MS990 Is suicide by pilot not mechanical failure. And the person who cause the crash Is Gammel Al-Batouti.
He Al Batootied his own horn.
Egypt 990 and silk air 185, two Cases of obvious mass murder, two Cases of ridiculous denials.
The guy who fought to save the plane was a hero although he couldn't pull back and save the plane he did all that he could have done .
Egypt has a really bad reputation for covering up its air crashes
Why he would act like everything was normal talking to his son about the tires; is because he didn't want his family to know what he did. That he murdered 116 people. It fits with the murder-suicide theory with all the other circumstantial and physical evidence. Denial is an ugly thing.
Exactly, that's what he wanted, for people to actually believe he doesn't have the intention to do it and unfortunately it kinda worked.
@@farhanatashiga3721 That's debatable. I think the deniers really know; but because of their positions, can't admit it.
@@ToyotaGuy1971 well his family and government continues to abstain him from any blame so to that extent it worked.
Either way it's just a case gross and utterly dumb case of denial.

Thanks for sharing
@@nickv4073: You are quite welcome.
39:00 This is the best line in the whole program.
Egypt claimed that the elevators were stuck in down positions, then how was the Captain able to pitch-up the airplane and climb a diving aircraft according to the FDR.
The plane is cruising horizontally then all of the sudden elevators get stuck in down position by themselves not unless the FO pushed the stick down.
And on top of everything else why was the fuel shutoff to both engines. Were they on fire or leaking fuel.
So a modern aircraft had elevators stuck in down position and simultaneously had both engines affected. What are the chances!
CVR and FDR objective and don't lie.
You first need to have pushed the elevators to that position in order for them to get stuck in that position, correct?
@@brandon8900 not always. The md80 that Alaska was using had the stabilizer jam issue due to lack of servicing. Similar mechanical parts and functions on non t tails too.
Edit: Boeing 737max comes to mind specificly, computer did it in those cases.
Are there seriously people, not employed by the Egyptian government, who don't think/know this guy crashed the plane on purpose?

Well, at least there’s the pilot who went to London for protection, to be able to tell the facts that he knew.
Despicable. I can forgive suicide ... but Murder? Never!

Egypt does not have to admit it. We and they all know the truth.
The cause of this crash was so obvious,a man has to be a fool not to see it. The crash of Egypt Air flight 990 was deliberately caused by Relief First Officer Gameel AlBatouti. All you have to do is look at the investigation report to discover the truth.
@@Steve1959 The original CVR proves otherwise.
It doesnt sound like a suicide.
@@Emsyaz Not only does the CVR confirm the suicidal first officer was actively trying to crash - so does the FDR.
@@strnglhld I have listened to the original Arabic recordings.
He does not sound suicidal at all.
He was trying to rescue the plane from strange mechanical failure.
Hence he said "tawakkul alallah"
@@Emsyaz wrong
There is a plausible three-part scenario without necessarily getting into religion.
(1) Batouty- Why did he do it?: From the scene where his superior confronts him in the hotel and tells him he’s gone too far and that he’s taken his last flight to America, he knows that once back home he faces at least the shame of losing his job and its perks, and worse if the reason he lost the job leaks out.
Since that superior is flying on the same flight, crashing the plane not only relieves Batouty from facing public embarrassment, by eliminating the individual who would fire him he will derive the posthumous benefit of family and others remembering him with a good reputation.
Based solely on the information presented in the video, there is no basis to conclude that he considered the lives of the other passengers in one way or another.
(2) Why doesn’t “Egypt” believe he did it?: Any group of people - nation, religion, race, etc. - who suffer from persistent derogatory stereotypes understandably wants to emphasize evidence contrary to that stereotype. And it is the president of a country who especially wants to promote positive images - like Egypt Air being a safe and well-run airline operated by competent professionals who happen to be Egyptians.
In an authoritarian nation, the story that the president wants to tell is what gets parroted by every government official who knows what’s good for them. For that reason, the only theory presented in Egyptian media is the “stuck elevator” story. And, furthermore, the argument that “foreigners blame it on Batouty just to put us down”, is certain to resonate with most of the citizenry. (Note the exception of the Egyptian pilot who went to London to give his testimony to the NTSB investigators.)
(3) Why don’t members of Batouty’s family believe it?: Just simple (and understandable) family pride and denial.
Egypt has denied this and other air disasters because a large source of income for them is tourism
Reminds me of the army surgeon who actually had to perform a surgery despite faking his way to the top.
I have to believe the American investigators, and the Egypt man who ask for asylum was telling the truth.
They keep talking about suicide, but I don’t think he saw it as suicide. He saw it as his country was going to shame him when he got back, so he decided to just get them first and I think he figured if he destroyed the plane right and far enough out over the ocean it would just be wrote off as an unexplained accident
He should've done it when it's actually his turn to be in the cockpit then, by that time they would've been in the deep Atlantic where tracking where they might've crashed would've been much harder.
It's clear that neither of you know anything about aviation.
@@farhanatashiga3721
I can see why you might think that, but I think not.
Batouty was the relief 1st officer. If he had waited, he then would be taking his position in the right hand seat at the same time that the relief captain took the pilot’s seat, and therefore he could not be certain he’d ever be alone with the opportunity to take over control of the aircraft.
The point where the regular duty captain excused himself from the cockpit was precisely the opportunity that Batouty was depending on and when it presented itself he had to seize it. It was a sure thing, rather than waiting until his assigned time to be in the cockpit and then taking the chance that the relief pilot might not take a break.
To your point and using your reasoning, I agree that for Batouty’s purposes it would have worked out “better” for him if the regular captain had taken his break an hour or so later.
Why even the relieve co officer shut down the engine.
Even if it was mechanical failure, the relief first officer's actions are pretty suspicious. I feel for his family the most because having to defend his honor after an event like that is freakin' rough, and honestly, shame on him in the afterlife for not only killing those people but putting his family through that (assuming he did bring down the plane intentionally).
He will burn in hell
@@farhanatashiga3721 pull I,m trying

Love this channel, but I never read the comments or descriptions to Mayday in advance, specifically to AVOID knowing the outcome like was given away in this title. In the cases where at least someone survived, it's such a feeling of relief! Even if not...bottom line is that it still draws you in more to not know immediately. Whether resulting in relief or sadness or a mix - it makes you feel things more to learn about it by watching instead of giving it away in the title.
Since
Also, plenty of Mayday episodes have survivors, even if it's not the majority, so this title is not a given. And even if we know within the first few minutes that at least *someone* survived, due to interviews w/ crew or passengers, we usually don't know total loss (if any) until the end of the reenactment portion, often 15-30 minutes in. And that makes for a very gripping intro.
_"You don't have to be lonely at hostile elders."_
For one of those pilots it was a suicide mission.
Amen
I can tell you how not to die in an airplane, don't get on one.
I wish the captain had somehow knocked Batouty out.
No, the Relief First Officer intentionally sent the plane into the ocean. Why did he insist on being in the cockpit 20 mins into the flight? Why did everything go wrong as soon as the captain stepped away to use the lavatory? Why didn't he try to help the captain regain control? So many questions and as to why he did what he did. It was an intentional crash, but the Egyptians don't and won't see it that way. The comment by the nephew made me sick, "just a simple plane crash." Horrible.
but it's clear Batouty did something to that aircraft. Why did he remove the first co-pilot before time. And why would the plane suddenly experience issues when the captain left the cockpit?
Replacing too early is a problem too
What happened?
Why do you have 2 videos that give conflicting stories? The one I saw said pilot suicide and now you say it’s mechanical and both pilots are trying to save the plane. Same actors. Would you care to explain? Did Batuti do it or not?
So, to sum up, a disgruntled relief pilot threw a sea fit?
Yeah, if you know what CFIT means and how it's pronounced, you get that _awful_ pun...
Well... I guess the ocean counts as terrain... Either that or he saw fit to add it to the list
I
saw what you did there.
I personally think if the plane didnt crash none of this would have happened
The relieve captain can be seen to crash the plane lol.
Pulling and pushing forward the throttle between two plane pilots under one cockpit with the evidence is legit, no soul survivors another aviation crash archive. Thy May Rest In Peace.
This is horrifying. That Pilot should NEVER have been allowed at the controls of this plane! Some of these men need to get some balls as the one co-pilot tried but to stay with it and say "NO" you will not take over command of this plane! I am capable of flying it, I am not in the least tired, I am perfectly fine to fly and hopefully get some back up, which he did not. There is NO excuse for this!! It is pure murder because he knew he was on the way out and could not accept it. Yes these episodes really piss me off as such a senseless and absolutely useless waste of life!!
Un huh... now what retarded social gathering was it the wife insists I go to?
*Triumph 1983* It's not a question of "balls"; it's a question of authority. Stop projecting "some of these men" don't have enough balls; you sound like a ball-busting, sexist-hypocrite.
It's a bit cultural. The first officer is considered an elder, and you really can't challenge his authority
@@nieshamccoy9419 the cultural aspect was where I was going with the wife thing. All sorts of men have bravery and bravado in the face of certain death, but they won't say no to the missus
@@nunyabidness674 Judging by all the American hotel maids he propositioned, he didn’t seem to have any loyalty or deference to his wife.
I thought the 767 didn’t have a flight engineer
They don't. It was the relief pilot sitting behind the FO.
No he was the chief pilot
Thank you for the upload, but PLEASE don't put spoilers in the title like this!
To clarify, yes, we usually figure out by about 15-20 minutes in, at the end of the reenactment. But those are usually a very gripping 15-20 minutes!
What spoilers??? Nowhere in the title does it say crazy sexual predator Arab murders a plan full of people by crashing it into the ocean!!
Onces the co pilot touch the flight stick then auto pilot disengage
This was a suicide-murder... The plane was working just fine until he shut the engines down an playing with the controls....
Egypt liar, liar pants on 🔥
A first officer flight stick is on a dive pushed by who the first officer ok.
What would be his motive for murdering all those people? I don't get it.
Cost the company the plane and end a rival. The rest of the folks were just there. If they don't see paradise that's between them and God. If the rival was considered to be oppressing one of the faithful, then the reward in the afterlife for ending the infidels existence absolved the suicide...
@@nunyabidness674 Unfortunately; it wouldn't absolve the murders. Also, we know he was probably a narcissist who couldn't admit his failures in moving up in the airline were his own fault. He felt entitled to behave in in appropriate ways, and that supports the notion that he felt entitled because of his position in the corporation.

I felt pity and condolences for the passenger and the captain.
The captain was shocked what is going on.
This is suicide as bathuthi lol
From building pyramids to crashing planes...
New evidence shows that Egyptians might not be the one who build Pyramid. The same thing that Angkor Wat in Cambodia. One Indian researcher shows that AW was built way before, not in13 century as scientists tell us. He also shows evidence there's a possibility people who built AW moved out and local Khmer people moved in and claimed it was built by their ancestors.
So the real cause is still unknown
Actually the real cause is either pilot suicide/murder or mechanical failure. That is known for sure. Since no mechanical failure can reproduce what happened, you can logically deduce it was pilot error. Even if it was mechanical failure, the plane was recoverable. Since this plane did not recover, it was either double pilot error or pilot murder.
The fact is who turn off both engine omg. The first officer confirm both engine is turned off.
No faulty will shut down both engine omg
If it quacks like a duck... then the pilot killed himself.
The History Channel has their own RUclips channel (HISTORY) and they recently released a Mega Disaster episode on how dangerous aviation is (which supports my theory that traveling by air is dangerous) and the FAA rated the US air safety with a D+ which is shocking.
