- A witch (Lisa Seagram) is determined to seduce Darrin (Dick York), even if it means giving him a love potion. So, Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) has to step in and put her back in her place, even if it involves a magical battle.

The difference between Ophelia and Sarah is that Ophelia is a familiar and could only follow orders. Sarah is a witch. I love it when Sam was challenged by Sarah. Sam pointed out that they were evenely matched, then she said, "That reduces us to the human level. How would you like a punch in the nose?" Sarah, "I'm not a brawler." Sam warned her, hands off. But Sarah didn't listen, so Sam stepped in.
The last scene, Sam defaced Sarah's picture.
Larry would cheat on his wife in a heartbeat if he ever had the chance.

Wow! I don't think I've ever seen this episode. This witch seemed to be more formidable than Ophelia in Season 8.
Why can’t we see whole episodes. I feel like they are just trying to make us buy the videos. I’m sure someone already got rich off of this and it is time to let people enjoy the reruns for free. Big business and capitalists get rich again

But I do get the feeling that Sarah and Serena might be ‘friends’ at least on a social level.
Serena was introduced because Elizabeth got a bit tired of always being perfect and wanted to play a bit of a bad girl once in a while.
It was Endora who arranged for Sarah to break up Darrin.

Well if this is from the first season, then it has been colorized - Bewitched was filmed in Black and White from 1964-1966. That would explain the one-color effect of the skin tone and makeup for the women. Pretty well done though!
I liked that Darrin wasn't impervious to a gorgeous woman, hence making sure Larry was there to help keep things professional.
Elizabeth and Dick York had great on screen chemistry. I didn't like Dick Sargent chemistry with Elizabeth.

These like many other good old classics will always be entertaining with mostly good nature and family oriented. For the most part the whole family could sit and enjoy it together. No worries for inappropriateness or vulgarity in language or behavior. If they were to remake this or any those classic shows, they would fail to capture any sense of it, they wouldn't be able to reproduce the wholesomeness of it's time. It best they should not remake any of them, leave the classics alone. That's why they have survived the test of time, because they were good entertainment for the whole family. If anything, they should learn from it and probably do shows with wholesome content that can bring families together.

I loved this show , never missed an episode.
I think Jim Carry would've made a great Darren in that 'Bewitched' movie. Then again even though it had a great cast the movie was trying to be meta and failed at being good and faithful to the the source material

The remake with Nicole Kidman was horrible. A new remake should be done...Jim Carrey has been said to be overbearing & controlling on films...it was said he tried to take over The Grinch film & make it his way...even midway in the film he was considered worth letting go for a recast...Steve Carrell was an option.

What about Darin was so appealing to witches? Samantha I can get, I buy into that relationship, they’ve got history now too. But the other witches that come prowling, what’s up there? Do they just want something Samantha has? Do they not realize if they get him, he’ll probably make them give up magic? Imagine conniving to get someone that would try to suppress you. Love seeing Samantha on the defensive, and I have no doubt she’ll win every time because of their shared love, but I don’t understand what these other witches want.
Same question pertains to certain women going after another woman's husband. It's interesting how art imitates life.

I think it's just the same old thing that afflicts human women - some of them are filled with jealousy, and want what someone more powerful has...in this case, her husband!
I think Samantha is a lot more powerful than we see.
After all...she WAS made into the new head witch eventually. I doubt that just anyone could be worthy of that title.

In the first episode of the series, or maybe second or third, the episode explains why she shouldn’t use witchcraft all the time. It’s very touching. Probably my favorite episode of all.

They remade many of the episodes with Dick Sargent. They were good, but the Dick York ones were better.

why did they cut out the moment when Janine slipped a magical potion into Larry's drink? It dilutes the the episode and causes it not to make sense. They clearly show it in the episode. They tend to shorten these snippess, but leave out the important moments. they do it quite a bit in these videos (Bewitched) and it's always some magical moment that they dilute. Annoying!

They showed the programme in Britain but in kids' slots so I doubt we ever saw those episodes dealing with attempted adultery

Because nobody would accept how the women are treated like property and kept in very narrow boxes. Why does “Darren” think he has the right to control her behaviour and deny her the opportunity to use her talents? She is supposed to act plain and small instead of them working together to do some good in the world. It’s cute and funny except that the whole point is a man insisting his wife behave in a way he approves. This couldn’t be made today because no one would stand for it. Just shows that we are making some progress out of old cultural stereotypes.
Samantha was generally sweet but also not to be trifled with.
