I love Steven Curtis Chapman. First heard of him back in the mid '80s. Hiding Place one of my favorite song. I hope you're ok Leland. Here in New Zealand everyone going about on their daily basis routine but still have to wear masks. Stay safe God bless. 🎸🎸🎸🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️❤❤❤❤
When you said "This is the world we're living in right now" my mind immediately went to the Genesis song "Land of Confusion": This is the world we live in (oh, oh, oh) And these are the hands we're given (oh, oh, oh) Use them and let's start trying (oh, oh, oh) To make it a place worth living in
The title track Heaven In The Real World has a strong spiritual anointing on it! Leland, your bass playing on that track and Treasure Of You I have loved since the release of the album! Blessings to you Leland!
Leland, you are a dear soul and I pray ,for you, long life with health and blessings and length of days. We all are headed to a moment when our “faith” or world view will be brought to light. Jesus IS that light. Love you brother! God is good!❤️🎸
Daniel Huff of the band GIANT?!? Him and his brother made some awesome music years ago, truly one of my favorite guitarists!!! Great to hear him again thank you Leland you always pull these Little Gems out right when we need it, so sorry to hear about your bandmates hope they get well soon!!!!!
Steve’s music has always been great and what a buzz that you played on this album. Our neighbours who thought they were untouchable just caught Covid for the 2nd time. Nobody is untouchable and I hope that the guys on that bus are okay. Stay safe and keep on keeping on brother. Cheers and thoughts to you all. 👍👌😎🇦🇺🙏
Good for your ideals of coping withe variant, and your right it's not over.Too bad that happened to the group. Your talented core pulled together. The music reminds me of Michael Bolton. Stay safe be safe Leland Sklar. ❤
What tasteful and meaningful music. I've heard Heaven in the Real World probably a hundred times when it was on christian radio when it was released. Never heard that great voice over intro. Also the good old days when guitar solos were still allowed as the musical snippet to take it up a notch between 2nd chorus and the final chorus. I see that sort of coming back. I hope it makes a return. There's been something gone out of life since then. A good electric guitar sings just as much to the soul as a great singer does.
Thank you Leland for keeping us entertained and delighting us with such fine music. Indeed take care of yourself and stay far from Covid. Greetings from Méjico!
Love and Learn --this song is incredibly timely to my mind. Thanks for sharing. Sorry you guys are having to deal with the CRUD. Hope things turn around, sooner than later.
Today’s selection highlights the variety in Steven Curtis Chapmen’s views of his faith but the glue holding it together is his commanding musicianship. As long as the Rhythm Section don’t get Covid Lyle can still put on a great gig. The show must go on!
Hi Leland, it`s the fourth of july , 5 o clock in the afternoon and I`m sitting in Bonn near Cologne in Germany and watching your videos. Covid19 cancels a lot of music gigs here in germany and I`m not able to see an international music gig this year (ok, the Rolling Stones have played two gigs in Germany, but Mick Jagger got covid too a few days ago). Now I hear your wonderful music, thinking about the better days ... Thanx for your videos, take care ... and perhaps we will see you and your music friends sometimes in Europe again ! Thank You !
Wow!!! "The Treasure of You" PWYF..."Play What You Feel" Again I have to mention what you've said about certain projects where you get a chord chart and you're allowed to come up with ideas for fills and certain runs, in my case I've been allowed to play what I feel to a certain extent, a chord chart in front of me of course but beyond that, I'm free to bring my ideas to the table because they pretty much know what to expect from me! Loved it Lee...thanks for sharing!!!
Definitely the most requested where one of my friends worked was Steven Curtis Chapman❣️❤️ Just fantastic jams❣️ Hope the horns & backups feel better soon! 😘 Last night I it sounded like a whole city commercial pile of big stuff fireworks were being set off from 15 or 20 yards away, like maybe from in the tennis court or the actual adjacent dog park area. It woke me up, and I was just listening, stock still, wondering where the fire would take off. It sounded like maybe some of the awnings stretched over parts of the dog play area might be burning and blowing around the one mooring that hadn't come undone yet. The triple digit dryness has been the same as from the massive wildfire very recently. I have not explored outside yet today. I think there were probably so many situations the fire departments and police were too thin to try to cover anything. I did hear almost all the fire stations in this zip code, head out and go South out towards the same area that had taken so long to contain last month. Have not checked news today yet. Just trying to feel almost mentally healthy for another half hour so. 🤪 I should probably get dressed, but, ...man ...pants... 🙃🙂
I hope his bandmates recover soon. It is important to remember that we have not come out of COVID, we have come out WITH COVID. Take good care of yourself please.
Sorry to hear about the band-mates with COVID, Lee. Hopefully everyone has had their vaccinations, and this won't be more than a few days of inconvenience and no major illness will result. As a now-retired physician, I can tell you one thing: COVID is never going anywhere. To think so would be just like thinking that influenza would disappear. When I was in med school back in the 90s, I remember learning about the Coronavirus family of viruses: I remember them telling us "they cause a really bad cold." Well along came COVID-19 and said "hold my beer." So I think that all we can do is to get vaccinated every year, and hopefully *when* you're exposed to it (and you pretty much will be, unless you live at the north pole), your immune system will have a high enough anti-COVID antibody level to get it before it has enough of a chance to get you. Sadly though, it's still going to take people...even some who've been vaccinated against it. Obviously it goes without saying that anything a person can do to limit their exposure to COVID, could very well pay huge dividends--and you've been preaching this for a couple of years now, rightly so. It's too bad that the sorts of people who NEED to hear this information are likely not the ones actually watching your video(s). I hope the rest of your tour continues to go well, and everyone stays as healthy as possible. Lyle's music has never really been on my play list, but I have to admit that watching your videos of "inside" the tour has turned me on to just how good an entertainer he is. And the band he's put together is absolutely top-notch, which is reason enough to check out as many live videos of his shows as get uploaded to RUclips. You guys aren't coming anywhere near where I live, so that's going to have to be good enough for me--and I greatly appreciate seeing your videos made from the road. Russ Kunkel has LONG been one of my favorite drummers, as for years I played along with his parts on many of my favorite tunes. Your road stories are absolute gold, and you are definitely a treasure to the world of music. Thanks for doing what you do!
Love Steven's voice and writing. I'd say that he reminds me of a lot people, but only slightly. And it doesn't matter, anyway. He sounds like himself. I hope that the afflicted band members get negative soon. As for their absences from the shows... it sounds like what started out as curse probably gave everyone a kick and may ultimately have made the group even stronger. It will be interesting to hear from you as to whether or not you feel it that affected the band dynamic beyond the shows they were not a part of. I hope they're back as soon as possible, however, and that everyone else manages to remain safe. This shit ain't over, even everyone is acting like it is.
Thank you for these visits and walk arounds. It is a view of a traveling professional musician that is not often seen.
