Now that is a woodpile! I've never seen a log lift that was too fast before! lol I love it. Kudo's to you guys for working hard and getting the job done.
love the logsplitter...especially the lifter, that makes all the difference. You should make a vid on how to make it. Jealous, living in the burbs about an hour from you, paying that big old heat bill from DTE.
You could use a restrictor orifice for your lift -- still, it gets 'em up there where they need to be. Or just put a net on the other side to catch 'em when they're launched. That really is some "Land of the Giants" firewood though. A little smaller wouldn't hurt! Great vid.
yeah @99cachorro is right that is some hernia wood, holy crap, and look at the size of them, wow.. I do see that outside boiler you have there, I have been conisdering to invest into one of those for my 2000 sqft house, that I currently heat the whole thing with a big wood stove.. IT NEVER ENDS WITH WOOD.
@firewoodguy1974 That is a fair question, should of said, live oak, now dead because it was cut down today and dismembered, so technically its dead oak logs that are being split today ps. your splitter looks like it can handle anything you put in it, great job
with a Heatmaster outdoor unit, no need to split a block at all, if your using big wood, ues a roller system and roll them right in the the door of a platform on to the rollers
@dbest1a This will be my sixth winter with mine, I got it not so much to save money on gas but did it for the exercise, a boiler is like a living organism, it has a brain, heart, vanes, and you got to feed it or it will starve, clean up after it. however not having a gas bill other than the monthly service charge is ok too
@localcrew Believe it or not, I’ve got a flow control valve in line ( restrictor orifice ) with some logs that are not round a slower speed will not push the log where it needs to be, so the control valve is opened for any log put up there, there is also a heavy duty cradle on the other side to catch anything that might go to far, thanks for the comment
Why did you have it set up that way? Should have the wood going the other end that way it can fall. Into the bucket? So. You don't have to keep bening over that much.
I guess it's mainly because it's not good quallity. You can see those britgh spots in there and thats low quallity oak. Not good enought for lumber but definitely will keep you warm in winter.
I have watched a half dozen of these homemade log splitter videos and hopefully will combine all the excellent ideas along with mine and leave the mistakes out of my attempt-thanks to all.
@frankie2234 Thanks, I built the splitter in a way where I could split trees by my self, this day my son and nepheu was there to help which made the chore more fun, I looked at other videos and got some ideas for them on how to make this splitter, still got a few bugs in it but it will do
@dynodon427 the door is 23'' X 31'' The box itself is 56''X48'' in dead winter I will load logs that will fit in the door with out splitting them using a HYD.Log lift, seen in my other videos, in the fall smaller pieces work better
Yes I have, made the splitter years ago to split 4 ft. logs with oak even split 4 ways there still heavy, other types wood the 4 footers are ok. I was younger then too, the oak from now on will be shorter. thanks for the comments
Hey see how this guy dropped at tree in the woods . Well I can go to that tree and split and come out with firewood already in my multi-task hydraulic trailer . The log splitter is the attachment tow-bar rough terrain.
@itwontme1111 Its a outdoor wood furnace, it will take 57 inch logs but I cut them 48 inches because the splitter can handle them, but! From now on when it comes to oak, ash, or maple they will be cut 30 inches because of the weight of them, thanks for the comment
Hello there, I saw a guy on RUclips with a "HM" splitter he said orafis or orfis were put in the back saver Hydraulic lines to restrict the flow so it wont launch logs haha.. If I find it again I'll return with info. It's my goal to built a good splitter but materials are awfully expensive did you salvage any parts on your machine, and do you have any tips? By the way THATS THE LIFE!
Nice rig! But to dangerous, I think you need to reduce the hose size or install needle valve on log lift. You about creamed your help several times and I would make it wider so the logs aren't falling off. You must like bending over to pick up split wood, why not add a cradle to the output end to catch what you just split? Ever hear the phrase"work smarter not harder" ?
Bobby young your right, I have since then started a sawmill business making and selling lumber from trees, then still have enough scrap to feed the outdoor wood furnace, wished I would of done that years ago, have a great one, thanks for the comment
Monnie Holt I made a spliter like I've never seen anything else close like it. I want to put it on utube some day. It is all chain drive & I have sold some ,too!
@firewoodguy1974 Has no problum with live oak like the one in the video, I've found out they split better when its real cold outside, for me its no fun splitting in the summer anyway, thanks for the comment
Just so you know, I took your advice and bought a woodmizer LT-35 now I make lumber and still have enough scrap to heat my house two out buildings, garage and my water, working on a wood kiln to dry lumber which will make the lumber worth more
I have split more wood with a hammer and a wedge than most have split with equipment. Burning wood for nearly years life has given me a very good insight on the economics and safety of the situation. I am not the city slicker that you presume me to be. I admire your hard work. Peace
I think it work's great like the 4 way splitter
Nice job well done

That is wild that you caught that. Good thing the guy who made this video wasn't standing in front of the splitter, that thing had some heat to it!
You could work up a wood pile faster than we could on the mill lol! That thing is a beast
Those big chunks of Pin Oak must take forever to dry like that. Awesome splitter. You guys have all the toys.
man that thing is certified bad ass. well done guys
Nice, love your place to. Looks like a bit of heaven. Wish I had access to more hardwood.
thats an awsome machine man!
Christofix thank, I cut them 25 inches now, 4 foot pieces are to heavy for me to pick up the older I get
@@MONNIEHOLT Always be carefull with lifting weights! we only have 1 back
you said pretty good sizedlogs. I would say sooo. Nice splitter, I remember helping my grandpa with his 20 yrs ago...his was also home made...
Nice splitter!! like butter to a hot knife ROFL
nice looking oak... hernia wood
Nice work on that splitter!
yeah @99cachorro is right that is some hernia wood, holy crap, and look at the size of them, wow.. I do see that outside boiler you have there, I have been conisdering to invest into one of those for my 2000 sqft house, that I currently heat the whole thing with a big wood stove..
IT NEVER ENDS WITH WOOD.
Nice machine. Could you some refinement, but a very good start.
@firewoodguy1974 That is a fair question, should of said, live oak, now dead because it was cut down today and dismembered, so technically its dead oak logs that are being split today ps. your splitter looks like it can handle anything you put in it, great job
nice !
you must have a realy big fire place
with a Heatmaster outdoor unit, no need to split a block at all, if your using big wood, ues a roller system and roll them right in the the door of a platform on to the rollers
must be a big fire you got
Homemade??? nice machine- looks more home depot made? shiesh- wish i had 1. Beats a 15 pound maul.
gosh those cuts simply look....beautiful.
this is too cool
good job, get some forks for the tractor and your in ..Good luck
using a dime with a hole drilled in it will slow the lift down an still have the same power but looks to me its just fine love to have it my self
Haha lots to feed that central boiler we love our stove but we burn a lot of soft wood
@dbest1a This will be my sixth winter with mine, I got it not so much to save money on gas but did it for the exercise, a boiler is like a living organism, it has a brain, heart, vanes, and you got to feed it or it will starve, clean up after it. however not having a gas bill other than the monthly service charge is ok too
Nice machine. I have a question: why isn't the wood worth more for lumber than for firewood? Did you fell the tree or was it a storm victim?
@localcrew Believe it or not, I’ve got a flow control valve in line ( restrictor orifice ) with some logs that are not round a slower speed will not push the log where it needs to be, so the control valve is opened for any log put up there, there is also a heavy duty cradle on the other side to catch anything that might go to far, thanks for the comment
Thank you,have a great day

big logs, but very fun to watch.
OMG, U guys are dangerous.
I call it rugged and manly
... ah, never mind, you wouldn't get it
using a dime with a hole drilled in it will slow the lift down an still have the same power
I have watched a half dozen of these homemade log splitter videos and hopefully will combine all the excellent ideas along with mine and leave the mistakes out of my attempt-thanks to all.
молодцы . крепкие парни
FOR THOSE LOGS SECTIONS , DO YOU HAVE A OUTSIDE WOOD BURNER ?
@frankie2234 Thanks, I built the splitter in a way where I could split trees by my self, this day my son and nepheu was there to help which made the chore more fun, I looked at other videos and got some ideas for them on how to make this splitter, still got a few bugs in it but it will do
NICE SPLITTER HOW DOES IT HANDLE LIVE OAK LOGS?
so what are the pump and motor sizes if you dont mind me asking?
@dynodon427 the door is 23'' X 31'' The box itself is 56''X48'' in dead winter I will load logs that will fit in the door with out splitting them using a HYD.Log lift, seen in my other videos, in the fall smaller pieces work better
That's more dangerous than juggling with axes.
Yes I have, made the splitter years ago to split 4 ft. logs with oak even split 4 ways there still heavy, other types wood the 4 footers are ok. I was younger then too, the oak from now on will be shorter. thanks for the comments
Like to see more about the log lift. Where ya located
@brutetastic thats a good eye and ear you got
Hey see how this guy dropped at tree in the woods . Well I can go to that tree and split and come out with firewood already in my multi-task hydraulic trailer . The log splitter is the attachment tow-bar rough terrain.

By the way THATS THE LIFE!
are they industrial/all weather/ safety trainers you've got on........
20 Lb maul is better! :)
How big is your firebox?
Nice rig! But to dangerous, I think you need to reduce the hose size or install needle valve on log lift. Y'all are krazzzzzzzzze i can sell that timber and you can move to Florida!!!!!!!
Bobby young your right, I have since then started a sawmill business making and selling lumber from trees, then still have enough scrap to feed the outdoor wood furnace, wished I would of done that years ago, have a great one, thanks for the comment
i think you got a nice lift there. but a table to catch the split pcs would be helpful.
John Beechy you are right, I will work on that, it's 7 years old now and I'm getting older,a table would make it easer and safer, thanks
Monnie Holt I made a spliter like I've never seen anything else close like it. I want to put it on utube some day. It is all chain drive & I have sold some ,too!
@brutetastic thats a good eye you got
missile was a shim, lucky it wasnt a shank
why are you stplitting logs that are so long?
@firewoodguy1974 Has no problum with live oak like the one in the video, I've found out they split better when its real cold outside, for me its no fun splitting in the summer anyway, thanks for the comment
seems like a shame to burn it...a band mill could buzz that into some nice valuable lumber...
we heat with wood as well ...I've bucked up a lot of timber to
yup...sad but true....I slab heavy and burn the slabs for heat...
Just so you know, I took your advice and bought a woodmizer LT-35 now I make lumber and still have enough scrap to heat my house two out buildings, garage and my water, working on a wood kiln to dry lumber which will make the lumber worth more
nice machine but I would not partner with either.
Iguana
What do you mean?
homemade outside wood burners
You risk broken legs having those big chunks falling. Build a table to catch and stack them instead of lifting them twice.
Perfect, that's a great idea
great job but treat yourself to a pickaroon to save that back
@jmecrg its a Central Boiler outdoor wood furnace, look at one of my other videos and you will see, thanks
Working around this heavy machinery without steel-toed boots is a recipe for disaster.
I, for one, was wearing steel-toed boots ;-)
работа на природе
That lift seems a lil jumpy
@rbg12345able so is driving a car with drunk drivers on the road
GUESS YOU DO SORRY
Dangerous and labor intensive. thumbs down.
Peace
Yes, it's called a checkbook.
Peace
