Been waiting for this one, and having taken delivery of a new Superduke I don’t feel too sad. Gotta disagree with fun factor to the Duke though, KTM has it in spades. Both great bikes and thanks for the review.
I’m surprised you didn’t bring up cruise control or heated grips on the KTM. As a road bike that costs over 20 grand, it is pretty inexcusable the Ducati doesn’t offer either. You also missed the in dash navigation the the KTM offers. Again for a 20 grand bike, these are the features that buyers are looking for in a road bike. The fact that you cant get them on the Ducati (apart from heated grips which is a $500 extra when dealer installs) is inexcusable for the price they charge.
@@Firestorm637 If you look at the fuel tank on the Ducati it is partially under the seat and makes a sharp bend so it would be very difficult to make an accurate gauge due to the shape. So that I can understand why they wouldn’t do it. But the cruise control, heated grips, and navigation that are missing are inexcusable for a bike at this price point, especially given that Ducati include all those features on the new Multistrada.
He also didn't bring up the KTM is keyless vs the ignition system of the ducati. You would think ducati would offer that on a $24k bike. They do in the diavel so why not that. I own 2018 SDR and I don't think I could ever go back to a key ignition system. He missed a lot of points on the KTM in my opinion. Not really a fair comparison.
@Andy Freeman Yeah . . that's pretty much why I went with the SDR too. The price on the Duc is just way too high for me to justify. Hell, I felt guilty buying the SDR considering it's one of the most expensive bikes in this class from a major manufacturer. Don't regret it at all though. If money weren't an issue I may have gone with the Duc, but there's just something about the SDR that spoke to me.
I think you got it right for the most part. However, the only thing I would change would be the handlebar controls. The KTM has cruise control and the Ducati does not. I would award an extra point to the KTM so it would be two to three and one draw. 😊
Jumping back and forth between the 2 bikes, I can really hear the difference in the sound of the engines. I prefer the way the KTM sounds. The Ducati isn't bad but the KTM has a more pleasing lower growl.
I think you've missed a very important point, practicality. KTM offers easy release side bags, much more comfortable pillion seat, cruise control, screens and many other accessories. This is a really big advantage for KTM.
I had no idea the V4s didn't offer cruise control. I love to have fun and go fast, but also enjoy a peaceful tour of the coast too, and cruise control is huge for me. Think that just made my decision easier.
U can also add a windscreen fro. Puig, a street rack from sw motech and u got yourself a proper touring bike. Can’t say the same about the Ducati. Not to mention the sidebags have an “ invisible” mounting system.
KTM 1290 SDR 3.0 is the best naked bike ever. Mine got Austin Racing full exhaust (189 HP), 158 Nm torque, 186 kg. I drove Suzuki B-King (2007), KTM 990 SDR (2010) Ducati Streetfighter (2012), KTM 1290 SDR 1.gen. (2015), 2.gen. (2018). The Best is unbeatable.
I own both (2018 SDR and a 2021 V4S Dark Stealth) -- it was the only reasonable solution :-) The V4S is simply a better bike, but I reach for my orange keys more often than the red ones... granted, my SDR is heavily modified, but even stock it was the "funnest" street bike I've ever owned. The V4S is actually a bit boring by comparison... I say that because it's simply easier to ride while I can barely keep the front tire of my KTM on the ground. If I had to buy a new bike today, and could only have one, I'd pick the KTM... crazy fun and almost half the price.
@@mrkang4080 glad I read this! I’m about to pull the trigger on a new 21’ SFV4S, second choice is the 21’KTM SD1290R, just concerned about reliability. TLR and others have all experienced bad luck issues. Hows the low end torque on both of your stead’s? And how thirsty do they both get?
@@Motorcycle_Mike I think reliability issues on both bikes stem from old stories and old bikes... Duc and KTM, much like Volkswagen, are brands that seem to continue to suffer from reliability issues from decades ago... I think they are unfounded. As for the bikes, my SDR is heavily, heavily, modified (carbon fiber bodywork, BST wheels, full akra with a power commander tune, etc.) -- the tune really helped with fuel consumption. With the money you save on the KTM, I'd highly recommend a full exhaust and custom tuning. Really brought the bike to life IMO. The V4S is kinda boring by comparison... don't get me wrong, it's AMAZING, but the KTM is terrifying at all RPMs while the Duc needs to be wound up a bit. The suspension and fit/finish of the SFV4S is like no other bike on the market, and worth every penny if you can afford it. Fuel consumption seems to be an issue on this bike for most people, but I haven't noticed... then again, I just got it so I don't have enough saddle time to notice it yet. You can't go wrong with either bike, the KTM is actually really good at slow speeds and around town (as is the Duc). The KTM can wheelie all day at any speed, while the Duc feels better during spirited rides and in the twisties (the full Ohlins setup is great on the street and track). Both are pretty comfy (I'm 6'4" / 193cm ~ 220lbs/100kg)... so I think the decision should really come down to budget... My problem now is that they just announced the Super Duke RR... lol
Guess the one important thing you missed was price, which the KTM would have won. Things like tank range might be important too as being a v4 and producing more power I'd guess the Ducati will be thirstier than the KTM, which initially might not be a problem but if the tank range is poor it tends to grate a bit once you've had the bike for a while

@@user-yw8ek4dj5v Loool I dont think you can say that, monster and 390 are both bottom of the line and ducati wins hands down. I know quite a few friends with 1290, ofc its a lot cheaper than Diavel and so its a good option but thats the only area where it wins.
Hi TMF, I realize this comparison is between the KTM 1290 Super Duke R and the Ducati Streetfighter V4S, however, I just revisted your comparison video between the GS and the XR 2020 and I can't help but wonder...if you could only choose between the 2020 BMW S1000 XR (red version of course) and the 2020 Ducati Streetfighter v4S, which would you choose? I happen to own a 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4S and have been drawn to the BMW S1000 XR. You're perspective would be especially helpful.
Having owned various Ducati's and KTM's over the years I was interested to watch this comparison video, and I know it's only based upon one persons perspective. Some things worth mentioning while watching: - 1. The Ducati screen flicked from day/night way more than the KTM's throughout the video, even before it was mentioned it was annoying me as it was changing constantly. 2. I agree that having to pay to get the Q/S to work on the KTM is a cheeky move, but it is £3.5k cheaper than the Ducati 3. Both are super naked's but one is nearly a third of the price more than the other, so you would expect better finish/components. 4. I've not ridden the Streetfighter so I cannot agree/disagree but I have heard from people that have, have said the Streetfighters engine is amazing but you have to rev it to utilise that power which isn't the point of a road bike. Keep up the good work, there's a 1290RR looming which should be similar ££ to the SFV4S so that would be a good comparison on a better level.
@@TheMissendenFlyer You probably don't take it out in the same conditions as e.g. the GS though, right? Probably washing after every ride vs coming home wet from a commute in the dark of winter and it being too cold to wash? My 1290 has been far better (and still looks new when washed) than the MultiStrada in those use cases. Any bike is likely to have few problems if "babied". 😜
Close call between the two bikes, I agree. Considering how often we reach the extent of the 180 or 200+ bhp, I will be very interested to see how you rate the new S1000r sport when it's released in a couple of months or so. It's supposedly more street orientated. Hope you have that one on your list.
Great comparison between the two big boys. It would of been nice in this video to display side by side the features of the bikes. Great video though 👍🏼
Fascinating comparison. Even if I had the money...which I haven't, I'm unlikely to be looking at a super naked but I still acknowledge that they're both great bikes. I'd agree with you that the Ducati just about takes the prize, but I'm not sure that it's significantly better enough to justify the extra cost over the KTM. So on that basis, I'd probably go for the KTM, which is about 95% as good for about 85% of the price!
I just sold my 2018 KTM 1290 SDR and ordered a 2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4S, have not tried the Ducati so I am excited. At least I do not think I have done anything stupid. And thanks for the video.

Great video once again. I totally agree with your opinions. The streetfighter is the nicer than the KTM, but as you say everything is marginal. Have to sat though, if I was getting one it would be the KTM, love the streetfighter but it doesn't justify being so much more expensive
Just down to personal preference for me. As such a nice bike the Ducati is, the engine note just sets my teeth on edge. As an overall package, agreed, the better bike. KTM for me based on the simple fact, I like it and as you have said Andy, its all down to what makes you want from a bike. There are no really bad bikes anymore, not like the 70’s and 80’s bikes we had back in the day.
I've had the standard 10 for a year and a half - done over 30000km so far, loving the bike. I would consider a change only if there's a new version of MT10 :D
You have a great bike. Continue loving it. If you ever want to hate it, take a SDR for a test ride. You can pick up a '14-16 for a bargain these days. In my mind, this is the rawest/purest of them, and it has the largest range/fuel tank. Smoothness and electronics are for the more sensitive, newage riders. Feelings should relate to suspension and tyres, not gender and equality. That's just me though.
I was confident of being right :-). Personally I would take an adventure bike because my grin factor comes from touring all over Europe. I'm sure these are great for a Sunday blatt for the younger amongst us though.
I want to get a super naked this year and the KTM and the Ducati street fighter are in my list but waiting till March , April time so I can see the new triumph speed triple 1200 RS in Watford. Lots to think about with choice and brand. You video's help alot as its great to see someone else's prospect. Great job sir
Both bikes seem brilliant. Not sure if it’s anything to do with sound recording but, Ducati sounds mechanically harsh compared to ktm. Please, please as soon as it’s possible, give us a test on the speed triple? Great video as always.
Great comparison video, thank you. I think it would also be good to have a section comparing both purchase cost and running costs (the latter you would have to estimate if you won't have the bike for very long). If two bikes are very similar in their abilities and are trading blows in various categories, if one bike would cost you £4k more and you had to service it much more frequently, I think that would inevitably be the deciding factor for many of us. I probably wouldn't mention MPG as we don't purchase these bikes for their economy. However if there was a massive difference in MPG then it's probably worth mentioning that too.
You have a CRF behind you in the opening shot of the video, did you buy another as regular viewers will know you sold yours or is the video out of sequence 🤷♂️
TMF im happy that you touch unobvious matters. Be honest no one buys this sort of devil for comfort yet for some of us, minor group of lads this do matter. Thanks for mentioning unobvious. Cheers from Poland
Your dead right on this one MissendenFlyer!!! That Ducati's Ohlins suspension, V4 engine and incredible fit and finish...can't go wrong. KTM fan boys are gonna have to hold that "L" on this one LOL. But like you said they're both great bikes.
Think both are equally good choices if you want a great hyper naked, though IMO the V4 looks the best (love how they managed to integrate the headlight's curve into the tank, none of that 'tacked on bits and bobs'-feeling some bikes suffer from). Though I guess we'll have to wait for the MV Dragster to release so you can have the ultimate naked hyper hooligan shootout (might need a s1000rr in the mix as well, get cracking ;3).
working at a KTM & Ducati dealership I see things from a slightly different perspective. There are more far KTM's coming in with faults than Ducati's, in fact I cant remember the last time that we had any of the V4's in with faults. The Superdukes suffer from water ingress into that TFT dash and also the switchgear, also the gearboxes have had a few isolated faults ( circlip coming adrift and wrecking the gearbox, there's a video of this on YT) You had better be on the ball keeping those superdukes clean and well lubed as the exhaust valves can rot really bad and sieze. Don't think that I am biased as I currently own a 1290SD.
this is one tough comparo, for me i think overall the KTM would likely win the specs game and perf on track but in looks and jollies every time you open the garage, the Ducati SF is pretty special, thanks so much for the review
Hi geat video! But i still have some questions! im really really in to both bikes. And i still can't decide on which one i should buy. But I know that on the Streetfighter you can change the throttle settings. Like for instance to medium or low and then when you yank the throttle it will ''gently'' arcelerate. So different than the wheely control. Is there a similar thing on the KTM 1290 super duke?

Nah - COVID causing delays - I reckon it'll be a couple of months yet reading between the lines.....no rush on my part as we can't ride for fun currently!
Mr Flyer can you do a quick comparison of V1, V2 and V3 Superduke 1290 with the current riding computer technology and wizardry, how relevant is the V1 and V2 in 2021.
Epic comparison Andy. What a choice to make between these two beasts? Out of these I think I would go for the KTM. Can’t put my finger on why, just would. Thanks for keeping me sane during Lockdown3.0. It is much appreciated.
Enjoyed that comparison; well done! For the first thirty years riding motorcycles, my main pre-purchase source of information was advertising and word of mouth; at best, tribal. For the last twenty years, I’ve been obsessed about finding out as much as possible before buying. But, and I have no idea if my experience is representative, for me the quality of the dealership has driven my choice as much as the bike itself. To this end, before they all disappear and we buy everything on-line, it may be interesting to “review” dealerships: what attracts, what repels, what enables and impedes sales and customer loyalty?
Not really The v4’s valve service are due every 24000km Actually most liquid cooled Ducati’s since 2012 are due every 24000km Which is very similar interval to most other bikes The older ducs, and air cooled ducs the valves are due very often
I currently own the 1290 and am totally in love with it. Having owned a ducati, I found it was constantly at the bike shop getting fixed. It really put me off from ever buying ducati again. I can not speak to the comfort of the street fighter but the hypermotard was like riding a burning anvil. The superduke did a 9000+km trip across Canada in two weeks and I could have went farther if my holidays hadn't come to an end.
Both great bikes, I’ve tested both and for me the KTM just nails it for its superior low down power and build quality, some of the plastic parts on the Ducati are just not fitting for a 20k bike sadly, also something to didn’t mention is that you can get a great deal on the KTM at the moment and save around 5k on what the Ducati cost 😬
Thanks for the comparison, I wanted to know if they were different in the head on wind hitting you as both are nakeds. Was one better than the other? Never owned a naked before.
Considering that you have your Panigale for those lovely summer days /nights when you want a sports bike. What would you rather have: The Streetfighter S or The BMW S1000XR (2020 New one) and why?
G'Day TMF. I'm with you on this comparison review. It's only the price of the Ducati would hold me back. The KTM is a very good bike but i've read a lot of comments about their electronics package, not up to scratch. I need reliability for my cash!!
Apology if I missed hearing you say it but did you mention price? isn't the Ducati around 20% more expensive? Is the Ducati really 20% better than the KTM for "real world riding"?
I think if you have the money and driving skills to manage these beast, it's only a matter of personal taste. Both absolutley amazing bikes. Both not the best on reliability but i would rather have a bike that gets my heart pounding. I own a 790 duke and the power is already enough, if i were to upgrade..Man tough choice

I own 2018 SDR and I don't think I could ever go back to a key ignition system. He missed a lot of points on the KTM in my opinion. Not really a fair comparison.
Would be interesting to see the comparison on price for both bikes with the SDR fully loaded with the performance pack and track pack ?
And look at the price difference ktm is a winner
Jumping back and forth between the 2 bikes, I can really hear the difference in the sound of the engines. I prefer the way the KTM sounds. The Ducati isn't bad but the KTM has a more pleasing lower growl.
Yes it's quite noticeable when you watch the video isn't t - more so than when I actually rode them!
Tuono for me 😁 good vid as usual, thanks. Nice Aston Martin on the lanes.
What are your thoughts on 2021 BMWs1000r? Vs my thoughts on buying Ducati streetfighter?
This reminded me of one of those sarcastic videos clarkson used to do, but this was loads better. Keep up the good work matey
KTM 1290 SDR 3.0 is the best naked bike ever. Mine got Austin Racing full exhaust (189 HP), 158 Nm torque, 186 kg. I drove Suzuki B-King (2007), KTM 990 SDR (2010) Ducati Streetfighter (2012), KTM 1290 SDR 1.gen. (2015), 2.gen. (2018). The Best is unbeatable.
Ride the Tuono V4 and the the
Triumph Speed Triple 1200RS and then you can talk about best naked bike ever
@@brunocarmona4958 Aprilia Tuono V4 is more like a sport bike, not a real naked.
All down to personal smiles per gallon. I have the KTM in my garage after riding both, another will differ that’s why we love talking bikes 😜
Fair and honest comparison, I would still buy an MT10 and have enough cash left to buy a Royal Enfield Interceptor. (The Ducati does look good though)
Fair enough....
I honestly think there is no wrong choice between these two...
Agreed.....both amazing machines....
My problem now is that they just announced the Super Duke RR... lol
@@mrkang4080 completely agree
Guess the one important thing you missed was price, which the KTM would have won. Things like tank range might be important too as being a v4 and producing more power I'd guess the Ducati will be thirstier than the KTM, which initially might not be a problem but if the tank range is poor it tends to grate a bit once you've had the bike for a while
ktm is shite and cheap
@@SRNAR8 interesting, which Ducatis and KTMs have you owned?
@@diamondmidnightgardener ktm just duke 390 which i sold a year later, ducati I currently hve a monster 696 which i must say is 100x smoother and more reliable. What about you?
@@SRNAR8 You do realise base entry small bikes are always typically cheap whereas the top of the line model always have the most care put in. Get a life, not everyone has to like the same as you. You are young and have ridden small bikes, you have no idea about the topic of these big ones. Grow up.
@@user-yw8ek4dj5v Loool I dont think you can say that, monster and 390 are both bottom of the line and ducati wins hands down. I have also tried some of the panigale series and Diavel and both of them are much better than the 1290 and 890. I know quite a few friends with 1290, ofc its a lot cheaper than Diavel and so its a good option but thats the only area where it wins.
Ducati for me, that's it. Looking forward to any bike + plane videos combo when the lockdown relaxes. Great vid TMF
KTM, it’s cheaper and a walk on the wild side......
And sounds so much better 😍
I like it, it’s all kinds of fun
ktm is clapped and for poor people. Ducati and MV are like the rolex of bikes.
@@SRNAR8 Over priced trinkets yup, got that one right.

Would be interested in your opinion of the v4s multistrada - can’t see a review unless I have missed it
Not ridden it yet - would love too!
I’ve been waiting for the comparison, Ducati for me too. Excellent review as always.
Thanks! 👍
Having owned various Ducati's and KTM's over the years I was interested to watch this comparison video, and I know it's only based upon one persons perspective. Some things worth mentioning while watching: -
1. The Ducati screen flicked from day/night way more than the KTM's throughout the video, even before it was mentioned it was annoying me as it was changing constantly.
2. I agree that having to pay to get the Q/S to work on the KTM is a cheeky move, but it is £3.5k cheaper than the Ducati
The "something about a Ducati" - the wondering when it's going to have the next issue. ;)
Or wondering the cost of the next service
Never had a problem with mine.....
@@eubikedude Yes true, I do baby my Ducati for sure - that's what it's there for!
I own a 2012 monster 796 with no issues at all.
Sadly I didn’t have both bikes at the same time!
Did you ever get to use 4th, 5th, or 6th gears? 😉 (Especially on the KTM.)
Very rarely
I have the KTM and it won't pull 6th on standard gearing at road legal speeds so it is completely redundant. I've never used it officer, honest....
@@interceptordave 😂
Fascinating comparison. Even if I had the money...which I haven't, I'm unlikely to be looking at a super naked but I still acknowledge that they're both great bikes. I'd agree with you that the Ducati just about takes the prize, but I'm not sure that it's significantly better enough to justify the extra cost over the KTM. So on that basis, I'd probably go for the KTM, which is about 95% as good for about 85% of the price!
As always, world-class content and delivery. Thanks for this video, sir.
Thank you kindly!
I've just met Andy and Carol on a walk in Missenden ...... What a lovely couple
Not today you didn't - we haven't been for a walk!!! Imposter alert!!!!
Oh my. Tmf giving the people the content they need
Great video as always
Appreciate that
I just sold my 2018 KTM 1290 SDR and ordered a 2021 Ducati Streetfighter V4S, have not tried the Ducati so I am excited.
At least I do not think I have done anything stupid.
And thanks for the video.
I seem to be in a minority but I'd have the Ducati over the KTM personally....
Thank you, a very enjoyable watch, keep up the good work 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Superduke for me, price is always a massive thing to say, you can get a superduke for £15k with a tech pack included , is a streetfighter £5k better?
Well it's a Ducati....just that bit more special ;0)
@@TheMissendenFlyerI have never got the Ducati thing, I bought a new multistrada as the test ride was brilliant, the day I collected it the salesman said make sure you only buy official Ducati aftermarket parts, that’s what Ducati like. Wtf!
2 weeks later the bike broke down and they could’nt give a toss. I’ve had loads of new bikes , some go wrong, no probs, as long as I get decent service I don’t mind. I’m not knocking Ducati, just the dealer. But the bike was no more special than any thing else. When the 999 came out I had a S version and that was the same to me.
@@motorbiketoureruk bare waffling. Ducati = rolex, ktm = shit $50 watch. You go for shit bike, when anyone see u they be like its a shitty ktm XDD
@@motorbiketoureruk I agree, mate. The only bike to let me down in the last 20 years was my Ducati Diavel back in 2011 when its keyless system failed 80 miles from home.

No fuel sensor on the Ducati? 😡 for that reason alone at that price the KTM would be a winner for me.
Great comparison. I was torn when I bought my Streetfighter V4S, I love a good KTM too. But it's just so epic, I'm really glad I went with the Ducati!
Good man Richard, from the comments it seems we're in the minoroty - both bikes are epic, but for me the Ducati nudges it....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Well, our opinions are no more valid than the next riders. But to fully appreciate one does have to experience. And as well as riding hundreds of other bikes, we've actually ridden these extensively. So hopefully, we're talking from an impartial place of experience! Plus the Ducati is red. 😉
Great video once again. I totally agree with your opinions. The streetfighter is the nicer than the KTM, but as you say everything is marginal. Have to sat though, if I was getting one it would be the KTM, love the streetfighter but it doesn't justify being so much more expensive
I test rode both of them, and the biggest difference is their character. The Ducati feels serious, while the KTM has some lovely silliness in it.
Great review just purchased the street fighter today - thank you
Wow lucky fella - what a bike!
Good comparison video TMF
Thanks 👍
Just down to personal preference for me.
As such a nice bike the Ducati is, the engine note just sets my teeth on edge. As an overall package, agreed, the better bike.
KTM for me based on the simple fact, I like it and as you have said Andy, its all down to what makes you want from a bike.
There are no really bad bikes anymore, not like the 70’s and 80’s bikes we had back in the day.
Couldn’t agree more Doc!
Surprised the backlit switchgear on the KTM didn’t tip that segment in its favour. Great video TMF 👌🏼👍🏻😎
Thanks 👍
Nice video again. 👍
Thanks for the visit
Enjoyed the video, though I echo the previous comment about missing the price comparison.
Totally agree. Love a V4 engine..
Nice back to back reviews on both awesome bikes 👍🏼
Nice evenly balanced review, thanks 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
I've owned Ducatis. I have a SDGT now. Ducati isn't what it once was. I still love them, but SDR or SDGT over the Duc any day!
Knowing the updates... would you choose the duke evo r or the streetfighter sp? Knowing that the ducati is like 7k-ish more
Not worth 7K more - The Duke wins at those prices….
Haven't ridden either so can't comment on them. But I'm a very happy grinner with my MT10 SP anyway.
I've had the standard 10 for a year and a half - done over 30000km so far, loving the bike. I would consider a change only if there's a new version of MT10 :D
What does sp mean? Is it like a special version or something
@@PokerFaceFazo Sort of: different colours, TFT dash and semi active suspensions.
Thank you - glad to help!
Both bikes seem brilliant. Not sure if it’s anything to do with sound recording but, Ducati sounds mechanically harsh compared to ktm. Please, please as soon as it’s possible, give us a test on the speed triple? Great video as always.
Will do....
Ducati sounds low on engine oil.
Not nice.
Out of sequence video - I recorded this in August, sold the CRF around October IIRC.....
TMF im happy that you touch unobvious matters. Be honest no one buys this sort of devil for comfort yet for some of us, minor group of lads this do matter. Thanks for mentioning unobvious. Cheers from Poland
Good to hear from you again!
1:28 Does the display change colour because you go into the shade of the trees?
Yes it does....a little too readily for my liking!
Would you consider test riding a Versys-X 300? I know it's a few years since release but I'm interested in your opinion on it. Safe riding!
There is something epic about Ducati's however in this comparison I prefer the sound of the KTM. Cheers for keeping us entertained.
My pleasure!
How do you have your recording audio so crisp what’s your setting ?
Just have the mic close to my mouth…
working at a KTM & Ducati dealership I see things from a slightly different perspective.
Wow - all good feedback thanks Darren!
Very helpful video 😊👍
Glad it was helpful!
this is one tough comparo, for me i think overall the KTM would likely win the specs game and perf on track but in looks and jollies every time you open the garage, the Ducati SF is pretty special, thanks so much for the review
Yes I'm with you Joe.....
Yes, Performance and Track modes have different throttle settings to choose from
Awesome review Andy! Haven’t ridden them however I’m sure I’d be happy with either! Thank you. 👍😎🇦🇺
No problem 👍

Any forecast on when you might get ahold of a Speed Triple 1200 ?

Hey! Did you get back your Interceptor yet? Thank's!
Sadly no - I don’t have access to those bikes or know enough about them....
Epic comparison Andy. What a choice to make between these two beasts?
Out of these I think I would go for the KTM. Can’t put my finger on why, just would.
Thanks for keeping me sane during Lockdown3.0. It is much appreciated.
My pleasure Gary!
Yes I have thought about that Walter....might be something in that.....
It'a been many years but the Ducati had a pretty aggressive maintenance schedule to adjust the valves. Is that still the case?
I don't know....
Not really
The v4’s valve service are due every 24000km
Actually most liquid cooled Ducati’s since 2012 are due every 24000km
Which is very similar interval to most other bikes
The older ducs, and air cooled ducs the valves are due very often
I currently own the 1290 and am totally in love with it. Having owned a ducati, I found it was constantly at the bike shop getting fixed.
It really put me off from ever buying ducati again. I can not speak to the comfort of the street fighter but the hypermotard was like riding a burning anvil.
The superduke did a 9000+km trip across Canada in two weeks and I could have went farther if my holidays hadn't come to an end.
I've had 3 ducatis, never had any issues and I ride throughout the entire year
Both great bikes, I’ve tested both and for me the KTM just nails it for its superior low down power and build quality, some of the plastic parts on the Ducati are just not fitting for a 20k bike sadly, also something to didn’t mention is that you can get a great deal on the KTM at the moment and save around 5k on what the Ducati cost 😬
Yes KTM's don't seem to hold their value as much as Ducati's even in the showroom let alone on the second hand market!!! Both great bikes....
Can you do a Honda msx125 review ?
Is the SF really that loud vs the KTM or is it just the video? That noise would drive me nuts. How do the prices compare?
Well the KTM is significantly cheaper....and yes the Ducati is louder....
Thanks for the comparison, I wanted to know if they were different in the head on wind hitting you as both are nakeds. Was one better than the other? Never owned a naked before.
Both the same in that department.....
Wonderful review. If you could pick, 1290duke r or 890 Duke r?
1290 for me….
The KTM is a very good
bike but i've read a lot of comments about their electronics package, not up to scratch. I need reliability for my cash!!
What's your chances of getting on & reviewing the the new MV Brutale 800 looks an absolute beaut.
Fairly good - my friends up at Krazy Horse are MV dealers and I'm sure in the warmer weather I could pop up there and try one out....stay tuned!
Excellent, be good to see it up against these two & to hear your thoughts. MV looks a hell of a bike especially with the SCS clutch.
What about price
Apology if I missed hearing you say it but did you mention price? isn't the Ducati around 20% more expensive?
Is the Ducati really 20% better than the KTM for "real world riding"?
Yes the Ducati is more expensive for sure, and no, it isn't 20% "better"...agreed.
I have to agree with you the Streetfighter V4s is a great machine.
What about mpg and running costs? I know the Multistrada is awful returning circa 25 mpg
Beauty and the beast. I’d expect a fuel gauge for 17 grand though. Dealbreaker for me.
Another great side by side comparison Andy. However is the V4s worth the extra 5k or so, over the Superduke in your real world opinion?
Probably not by any logical measure - but I'd still have the Ducati over the KTM if money was not an issue....
Dream bike!! Superduke🔥 Hopefully I can get one of those someday!!
Which is best? The SDR .....why? Because I own a 2021 model :)
