I don't understand how people play simulators for over 2 days, for me it gets repetitive really quickly. My friend found this game, the whole game loop is: chop/attack something, get money for it, repeat that until you can buy something. I just died after 30 minutes and left and my friend played that for 3 hours.
they find joy in that, think of people like 5-12 year olds. they have no sense of time or any idea of what to do irl. they use their time to play games like these and feel like theyre "winning" so that they can flex and stuff.
What about this game called decaying winter? its a somewhat confusing game to learn when you just begin and its extremely hard, and its more of an mature game with themes of suicide, violence, drug use and etc. the game gets 1k-2k players usually and plus. the community is extremely not friendly towards new players in public servers. Like voting kicking them. killing them with grenades. etc.
Thats probably why it doesnt have more than 1-2k concurrent, only ppl who started playing the game from the beginning when everyone was new can play, and others can’t. If the game had a tutorial or a friendly community the game would probably have more if it was well made. It could also be that the main demographic of that game found it from the beginning and there isn’t much room to grow into(based off of the fact that mature games like this on roblox is a relatively small niche).
That one is the community tbh, from what i could of decaying winter (didnt last long in there) it seemed pretty polished though i think having button control indicators would be nice for new players (like the thing minecraft did)
Decaying Winter succeeds because the game is pretty easy to pick up and play. Read simple directions, scour for loot, survive waves, and ration on supplies. The game is not simple and has complex mechanics, but it’s easy to understand the general idea. On top of that, Roblox gore and more mature themes have been trending as they are more obscure and fresh concepts within the Roblox community. Roblox games will only be able to appeal to users in terms of graphics to a certain extent. The Roblox engine has its unfortunate limits. The sheer gameplay has to make up for this and be unique and creative while still appealing to a broad audience.
And even with a good thumbnail / icon, and other stuff that is eye catching, its simply NOT working pretty sad, all underrated developers pretty much have their game completely dead or just very underrated.
it's wrong actually if u make a game and add much details or much to do. players dont get bored. just do some weekly bug fixes or updates. so ur game dont die.
my friend, brother, and I are making a tower defense game. I feel like making a tower defense game is a good example of an engaging game, because people will keep trying to get new towers and beat their records or get on the leaderboard or something.
make it stand out from the rest theres tons and i mean REAL tons of the same tower defense games with little to no catch, work on gameplay and make it actually intriguing rather than just "place towers and like dont let em come to your base"
@@TripleToes3 Models aren't really a bad thing, I used to add models into my games back when I didn't know much about Roblox Studio, they're helpful for someone who doesn't know how to build.
another reason a game may make a player want to quit their game is when they have too many gamepasses or the game is generally just not free. From my experience of playing a game like that, it started to be more and more frustrating to see a robux payment requirement for almost everything. If your game is successful, roblox will start giving you robux per player visit and other stuff so I don't think it's necessary to add a gamepass for everything If you still want gamepasses tho (because You do need gamepasses) i think the donation/"support me" passes are the best since they don't really affect the gameplay
TLDR: Make a good game and you won't fail Yeh, everyone overestimated their own game and gets sad when the game fail Maybe because the game isn't good.

This video is good but alittle simplistic, good game design is determined situation by situation which is why it doesn't help to say "too Confusing", "Not Engaging", "Not Polished" The much better question is how do you ACTUALLY know when these things apply to your game. You must look at the developer stats, under 10- 20k visits the stats arent exactly the clearest but they will give you a general idea. A good average playtime is anything above 14 minutes, A great one is 20+ minutes. You also want to make sure your roblox per visit is 1.75+ The combination of these 2 things will allow your game to get into the algorithm so you no longer have to sponsor your project. What do these stats tell you. - If your playtime is under 14 minutes your game is not engaging, or too confusing - if your Robux per visit is under 1.2 - 1.75 your game is badly monitized How much robux do you need realistically to sponsor a game -For the average robloxian, ALOT. like i wouldn't say under 150k You need 30 - 50k just to test thumbnail and icon combos. And 100k to sponsor 7 times across 2 weeks.(after 2 weeks of sponsoring with 14+ minute playtime and 1.75 RPV your game will be algo eligible in theory) HOWEVER. If your a good enough dev to make a game that deserves 150k+ in advertising, your a good enough dev to do commission work to make robux.
Manually save and if shortcuts are available ctrl+s on pc or cmd+s on Mac. Never ever do anything creative without clicking save every 10 minutes or so. It protects you from so much dumb stuff that can happen

If you're struggling to make a thumbnail or don't have enough money to hire someone just use an AI thumbnail or icon generator, there are plenty of tools you can use for that and it's free aswell
