  • Seeing what all of the making community has been able to do in regard to RUclips and the sharing of their work I've been inspired to take an honest run at a RUclips channel. This was my first ever edited video, there's a lot to be learned before I'll be satisfied.
    In this video I'm making a quiver for a customer who wanted a hip quiver that could be worn in any direction on either side. He asked for the spine to be folded and creased and a tension-bead added to keep arrow rattle down.
    Thanks for watching!

    Absolutely wonderful video. Pared down to the perfect essentials - concise, no bull, no endless self-centered chatter and endless noise. Nice job by a highly skilled leather worker. Visually informative! Keep the videos comin'. Thank you!

    nice video. I am a newbie to leather tooling but I wish I already had your skills. I'm going to have a go at making my own quiver. Thanks for sharing your process. Turned out beautiful.

    Great work. Very nice looking quiver! In my opinion you could put more effort in the editing insted of just fast fowarding the video, it would capture better the essence and the pleseure on leatherworking. But never the less, good work.

    Very enjoyable video watching it done on fast forward with the sound effects enabling us to see virtually the whole process. And what a beautiful looking quiver it is with the lovely shape.
    Not looked at your other videos yet so don't know if you do any with tips on making with leather but I will certainly be looking through them.
    I do have one complaint. It would of been nice with a boom or something when you finished it.

    The tool you used for cutting strips looks like it was homemade. Can you provide a video how you made that?

    • @MemphisPains
      @MemphisPains  8 лет назад +2

      It was actually an Tandy Leather tool, though it does look homemade. It get's the job done but it can give you a nasty cut if you're not careful. Here's the link to it. www.tandyleather.com/en/product/craftool-strap-cutter

    hoping you can provide some advice on buying leather - if I was going to buy a roll (??) of leather similar to what you are using in this video (also not dyed), what would I be looking for? medium weight (is there an oz weight?), vegetable tan (or something else?), etc.? thanks for your help!

    • @MemphisPains
      @MemphisPains  6 лет назад

      jckrbbt4 Sure! You could use anything heavier than 5oz leather but 5 is still pretty light, so 6-7oz was always my sweet spot on quivers. You want it to be vegetable tanned leather. If you're not planning on tooling, a medium grade quality will do great. Good luck!

    Great video.What keeps the quiver from tipping over?

    • @stillenacht8518
      @stillenacht8518 6 лет назад

      Robin Turner The straps have an adjustable length, which coupled with the typical slight to extreme front of center balance on the arrow shafts (the heads and inserts weigh more than the shaft and fletching so the balance point sits front of the center of the shaft) prevents the arrows from tipping the quiver forward and falling out. Helpful tip, if you are hopping over a log or something you can steady the shafts with one hand as well so they aren’t banging off your bits. 😺

    How much would you charge to make a quiver and arm guard?

    • @MemphisPains
      @MemphisPains  8 лет назад

      Hi Sarah! A quiver like this with a matching arm guard starts at $140.00 on my Etsy shop. If you would like the bead (which when tightened helps keep the quiver silent) that is no extra charge.
