Fun Fact: The scene where the characters mourn Dinobot at his funeral has an inconsistency. If you look at Rattrap, he is not in his transmetal form and appears as he was in season 1.
Dinobot was the first character in a TV show/cartoon that spawned my love of the anti-hero or villain turned hero type of character. Vegeta and Piccolo from DBZ, Red Hood from Batman, the Green Ranger from Power Rangers...they all have a special place in my heart
The reason this figure is so well made is because every person who grew up watching the show and got an engineering degree made up their own version of their favorite character, and the lucky few who do this for a living pooled their best ideas into this one.

I find his personality interesting/ his relations with cheetor (his conversations/ encounters) And I am waiting for the WFC (War For Cybertron) Kingdom toys to come out (As of 8/26/20), so far the rattrap figure looks good and I’m excited to see the beast wars figures brought back into a transformers show
I'm no collector; Dinobot here was only my second MP and I was just floored. The whole time I was transforming him, I was marveling at the engineering that must have gone into the process. I always wondered if that was the norm and I was just being a starstruck noob, but you really echoed my sentiments on all counts. Also, the way you packed up his raptor bits in the torso makes waaaaaay more sense than the instructions. I was struggling with that for a lot longer than I'd like to admit!
Yeah, a friend of mine has this exact figure and- even though I only watch Jobby for his humor(never really liked toys 🤷🏽♂️), actually handling this thing was pretty damn cool. It's really fun getting it to transform, it has the same satisfaction with finishing like a jigsaw puzzle or smth

Just started rewatching Beast Wars these days, and got too curious about how exactly Dinobot transforms. Love the style of your reviews. Detailed and entertaining! Looks like if I were still collecting toys, I'd enjoy this figure for sure. Used to have Optimus Primal and Cheetor, but then didn't play with them for more than 2 years. (sold them and all my toys cuz I started to not have the time and motivation anymore)
I didn't love the OG Dinobot that much when I was a kid, but I was a huge fan of his Transmetal version. I remember that there was an event which audiences had a chance to get the toy of the character they drew. I drew Transmetal Dinobot. Couldn't remember the address due to no Internet back then, so it didn't get to the host. My dad told me he sent it out. Now that I'm an adult, I know that he was just lying to me cuz that address made no sense at all.
Even made a Transmetal Dinobot out of a special type of block I kept playing with back then. It can literally transform without disassembling. Ah... Good old days!
It's funny, I felt the same way when I was 13 and still into Transformers. I had this existential crisis where I almost felt guilty every time I played with my Beast Wars figures. But screw it, even now I occasionally still take out my dusty bin full of busted up, paint-chipped, super-glued together Beast Wars figures just to look at them. I'm 34 now.
We were learning about the golden disk in school and my teacher asked me “what is the purpose of the golden record?”. I said “it’s to locate energon” and my teacher said “I wish you were correct, sadly that is not it”
Dang it Jobby, you did a really good job of convincing me to get this figure (just like MP Soundwave), this figure looks amazing, I’m just worried about the quality control on the shoulder joints and the price tag scares me too
So I have to say that your Dinobot impression is actually pretty spot on. When I was a kid I had to buy Dinobot, Rattrap and Megatron because I could do their voices the best and my cousin bought Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Inferno and Quickstrike because he could do those voices well.
This figure is such a frkn beautiful work of art, I can’t believe that they managed to pull this off, I remember seeing Dinobot on the show and thinking that it would be impossible for them to ever replicate both his modes into a good looking figure, but this thing is incredible

Arro3 judging by how the figures have been released so far they're going based on me Japanese toy numbers so Blackarachnia might be one of the last ones for the Predacons scorponok will be the next one based on this that's proven right so far for the Predacons followed by waspinator and tarantulas then terrorsaur, then Blackarachnia and inferno for the maximals it's going to be rattrap next followed by rhinox then tigeratron and airazor

Which king ghidorah, I always imagine anime ghidorah having a voice similar to Hermaeus Mora, while I feel that monsterverse ghidorah would have three different voices, the left head would sound like the voice jobby gave dinobot, the middle head would sound like a mature and formal older brother, and the right head would sound less mature and like he were going through puberty
I imagine that one for either showa or mecha ghidorah Heisei will get the most normal sounding voice Millennium will get the least threatening And Keizer and monsterverse will get really deep threatening voices
I feel like one of the alternate face plates should have come with the damaged cheek guard from Code of Hero, I know it’s small but it’s literally the character’s most iconic scene and for $250 I feel like I should be able to recreate it without either modifying my least favorite head or hoping someone on shapeways had the same complaint as me.
You could use poster gum to make that peg to hold the shield a little more secure. Also the sword being pink was from Dinobots last episode. Throughout that episode it was a slight shade of pink.
One of the things which I like from this line of figures is that there are still some gimmicks from the old figures. Makes the nostalgia factor stronger.
Jobby, let me tell you, that this review is actually the top reason why I'm watching beast wars. I never grew up with it, and it wasn't until maybe a year or two ago where I actually started watching transformers. But your review actually got me intrigued on Dinobot as a character, and I was going to watch maybe 3 to 5 episodes? Just as a 1 time thing. But now I can happily say I am hooked on the series and can't wait to see the rest! As of now, I'm on episode 16, and I'll be watching the rest very soon. Thanks Jobby! yup, that's what the golden disks are in the show too. G1 megatron engraved a secret code into them for any future leaders of the decepticons. that's where Beast wars megs got them from, and hwy he traveled back in time to begin with.
Dinobot was probably the toughest Beast Wars character to make a show-accurate transformer out of, but Takara did it! The only ones that may be tougher would be Black Arachnia and Air Razor, just because they're so thin, and have very little room to hide their beast modes. Megatron's looking perfect.

Honestly this figure looks amazing. I'm not a transformers fan but damn that thing is pretty. It's expensive but honestly I like the idea of a company putting everything they have into create a superior figure. it's like a perfect grade Gundam
"Code of a Hero" is one the greatest television episodes ever aired. It was the high point of the series before it took a turn to the transformers getting off earth. Dinobot knew where and more importantly when they were on earth was "incorrect" but he also knew that with that error came far more grave implications that were never intended. Dinobot knew human beings were a life to preserve from the fact he was being led by a disc created by them.
Hey Jobby, thank you for all the hilarious and informative content man, I've re-watched so many of your videos now and after hearing your opinions, finally bought this figure and Shadow Panther Cheetor. Unfortunately Dinobot's robot orange heels broke off (I was so, so careful as well...so careful damnit), but that aside both figures are incredible!! Slightly envious of your folding heels now but whatever; I've never seen anything this good before, and am still over the moon. Beast Wars (and David Kaye obviously) got me into Transformers as kid and by golly gosh, Takara finally made show accurate, brilliantly engineered figures. I watched Beast Wars, and the sword is not some random thing, it actually appears chrome pink, even when in the dark and twilight hours. So it may have been silver in reality, but the show lighting rendered it pink. So yeah, the sword is animation accurate. Nice work takara.

Which king ghidorah, I always imagine anime ghidorah having a voice similar to Hermaeus Mora, while I feel that monsterverse ghidorah would have three different voices, the left head would sound like the voice jobby gave dinobot, the middle head would sound like a mature and formal older brother, and the right head would sound less mature and like he were going through puberty

You could use poster gum to make that peg to hold the shield a little more secure. Also the sword being pink was from Dinobots last episode. Throughout that episode it was a slight shade of pink.

Jobby, let me tell you, that this review is actually the top reason why I'm watching beast wars. I never grew up with it, and it wasn't until maybe a year or two ago where I actually started watching transformers.
But your review actually got me intrigued on Dinobot as a character, and I was going to watch maybe 3 to 5 episodes? Just as a 1 time thing. But now I can happily say I am hooked on the series and can't wait to see the rest! As of now, I'm on episode 16, and I'll be watching the rest very soon.

Dinobot was probably the toughest Beast Wars character to make a show-accurate transformer out of, but Takara did it! The only ones that may be tougher would be Black Arachnia and Air Razor, just because they're so thin, and have very little room to hide their beast modes. Megatron's looking perfect.

There was an episode where Megatron created a clone of Dinobot. The clone infiltrate the Maximals, but the real Dinobot was able to catch the clone and ended up eating the clone.

Honestly this figure looks amazing. I'm not a transformers fan but damn that thing is pretty. It's expensive but honestly I like the idea of a company putting everything they have into create a superior figure. it's like a perfect grade Gundam

"Code of a Hero" is one the greatest television episodes ever aired. It was the high point of the series before it took a turn to the transformers getting off earth. Dinobot knew where and more importantly when they were on earth was "incorrect" but he also knew that with that error came far more grave implications that were never intended. Dinobot knew human beings were a life to preserve from the fact he was being led by a disc created by them.

Hey Jobby, thank you for all the hilarious and informative content man, I've re-watched so many of your videos now and after hearing your opinions, finally bought this figure and Shadow Panther Cheetor.
Unfortunately Dinobot's robot orange heels broke off (I was so, so careful as well...so careful damnit), but that aside both figures are incredible!! Slightly envious of your folding heels now but whatever; I've never seen anything this good before, and am still over the moon.
Beast Wars (and David Kaye obviously) got me into Transformers as kid and by golly gosh, Takara finally made show accurate, brilliantly engineered figures. But without honest and entertaining reviews, Who Will Know?

The idea of two toys in one always amazed me. Like you have a epic robot, and then a gun in a few minutes.
I watched Beast Wars, and the sword is not some random thing, it actually appears chrome pink, even when in the dark and twilight hours. So it may have been silver in reality, but the show lighting rendered it pink. So yeah, the sword is animation accurate. Nice work takara.
