I'd say the Sox comeback was a little different. Hadn't won the world series in almost a century and beat their biggest rival the way they did..... And with Rivera on the mound..... That must have sucked 😀😁😂
This video really doesn't make Edwards sound like a homer at all... you can tell he still has some bias, but his calls on Philly goals sound just as excited as his Bruins goal calls...
As a flyers fan I enjoy this memory but I def feel for the bruins fans this year. Just don’t forget you guys won the cup the very next year. So at least you’ve seen one in 50 years !
I remember this series and remember how the season ended for the Flyers, no Stanley Cup. What happened the following season? The Bruins went up 3-0 on Flyers, and ...well....finished off the sweep. And did they go on to win the Cup? yes, yes they did. And as for the Flyers, it's 2015. The motto remains the same, "Choking Since 1975".
Um, excuse me? We've missed the playoffs 10 times. Out of the 47 seasons the flyers have been in the league, we've qualified for playoffs 37 times. We don't choke. We've made it to the cup finals 6 fucking times. We have 8 conference championships and 16 division championships. I don't think we "choke"
+Ian Garvin You've made it to the finals six times, and won twice (being the dirtiest team in the league, and everyone knows it), while your rivals have been to the finals four times, and won three. Just face it, your team is one of the biggest jokes in the NHL and has been for quite some time. Sure, you don't choke... but you still suck. Not much better.
The past 5 years in particular I've found Jack Edwards near insufferable to listen to, for how much of a childish homer he can be and now with his age really slowing down his speech. But this was actually a really good call for him and there wasn't any bias and was fun to listen to. Wasn't laughing at how bad he can be
I'll give the Bruins credit. They were shocked in OT by Carolina in 2009 and were utterly humiliated in 2010 at the hands of Philly, but I think those two playoff disappointments gave them the character to win the Cup in 2011.
yeah you boston fanboys we're all hip hip hooray next year, man i cant stand how arrogant you bruin fans are but the 2010 playoffs was a miracle run for us from beating the rangers in the final game of the season for a playoff spot in a shootout to going all the way to finals man it was year us flyer fans will never ever forget
+Shadow Wolf The fact that Chicago didn't beat Philly in 5 was actually the real upset of the series. When you compare the rosters there's no doubt that the skill heavily drifts towards Chicago's, easily... should have been a 5 game series and everyone knows it. You weren't close.
Wasn’t this the same year when on the last game of the season: Played vs Rangers If loss, eliminated If Rangers loss, eliminated Shootout And went to the Cup Final?
I’m a 63 year old life long Boston Bruins fan and I can only speak for myself but I just can’t stomach Jack Edwards calling a Bruins game. It’s like there’s only 1 team on the ice and it’s like Milan Lucic never lost a fight. Oh for the days of Fred and Derek. Anybody from back in the day know who I’m talking about. 🤔
You know what? As much as I loath Jack Edwards, this was a great call. Even when Flyers got the lead. I think he recognized history was being made, and he was part of it.
+joesakic91 I think just because it was BOSTON who collapsed in 2010 was a bigger hype because they're seen as this big bad team who's tough and big. Seeing them choke like that was probably a bigger shock than the SJS in 2014
Shadownet So? At least when the 2010 Bruins had their 3-0 collapse, they lost Games 4 and 7 by one goal. The 2014 Sharks didn't even come close after leading 3-0 losing all four games (Games 4-7) by 3+ goals. That's even worse.
rob in Oh yes it does. The Boston Bruins made up the 2010 3-0 collapse against the Philadelphia Flyers with a Stanley Cup the next season beating the Flyers along the way. The Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Penguins came back to win titles down the road after their 3-0 collapses. The San Jose Sharks have yet to do that let alone make a Stanley Cup Final.
Its too bad the Flyers lost in the 2010 Cup Final, because this would’ve been a miracle playoff run for the books. Although the 3-0 comeback is still a piece of history.
Kids who have grown up in New England this century have no idea how spoiled they were. Having multiple world championships in football and baseball, and a title in basketball and hockey.

and what happened the year after? Stanley Cup woo
Im no Flyers fan, Im actually a Devils fan, but as a Yankees fan it was so sweet to see Boston suffer heart break that I as a Yankee fan felt in 2004. Yes I am bitter, and yes I enjoyed watching Boston fans suffer especially that fucking clown Jack Edwards!
What about 2011 and 13;)
+Jack Driscoll In 2013 it was funny seeing the bruins lose the cup in 17 seconds ;)
The next year, Boston would sweep Philadelphia and go on to beat Vancouver in seven games to win the Stanley Cup.
I miss Gagne so much. Philly treated him badly which just breaks my heart. He will always be my favorite flyers player.
As much as I hate Philly, anything that causes Jack Edwards pain is okay in my book.
I was born in 1982, so I never experienced a cup win by the Flyers, this is the greatest Flyers experience in my lifetime!
Fucking EPIC!
The following seasons' Playoff meeting between these two is MY favorite Flyers experience in my lifetime.
It's funny how largely forgotten this game is after they swept the Flyers the following year and won the cup
Don't forget the next year after this it's the flyers who choke
What happened last year?
How?
Bruins suck big fat sweaty ball sac
They didn't choke, they just got beat bad.
12OclockLow He's talking about the Flyers the next year.
As a flyers fan I enjoy this memory but I def feel for the bruins fans this year. Just don’t forget you guys won the cup the very next year. So at least you’ve seen one in 50 years !
"they got philly on the run" proceeds to lose
To give Boston credit, they rebounded the next year by sweeping the Flyers. (this time they didn't take the 3-0 lead for granted lol)
I don't think we "choke"
having a roster of players that should've, would've, could've won the Stanley Cup, but didn't....that's called Choking.
That's what the Flyers do.
Haha exactly right! :)
You've made the finals 6 times in a row and nothing to show for it. That's what I call "choking".
10 years later, they found a way to choke even harder
Real hockey fans don't throw stuff on ice when they lose
I hope you’re not talking about the bruins after the Flyers loss against Pittsburgh
I mean, his original comment was 3 years ago lmao. Unless he's a time traveler he wouldn't know about the flyers fans throwing stuff on the ice.
Oh, the flyers have certainly done it before then.
Eh, I disagree. It shows that they care, you might be thinkikng of a fake fan.
The past 5 years in particular I've found Jack Edwards near insufferable to listen to, for how much of a childish homer he can be and now with his age really slowing down his speech. But this was actually a really good call for him and there wasn't any bias and was fun to listen to. Wasn't laughing at how bad he can be
He normally seems unexcited when the other team scores, but I give him credit for seeming just as excited when Philadelphia scores.
Playoff hockey baby!
How was losing that cup?
it was heartbreaking we were so close
+Shadow Wolf The fact that Chicago didn't beat Philly in 5 was actually the real upset of the series. When you compare the rosters there's no doubt that the skill heavily drifts towards Chicago's, easily... should have been a 5 game series and everyone knows it. You weren't close.
but we battled hard against chicago its not like they walked right over us
Shadow Wolf Pronger was quite good, I'll give them that.
Wasn’t this the same year when on the last game of the season:
Played vs Rangers
If loss, eliminated
If Rangers loss, eliminated
Shootout
And went to the Cup Final?
Michael Deemer yes
I’m a 63 year old life long Boston Bruins fan and I can only speak for myself but I just can’t stomach Jack Edwards calling a Bruins game. It’s like there’s only 1 team on the ice and it’s like Milan Lucic never lost a fight. Oh for the days of Fred and Derek. Anybody from back in the day know who I’m talking about. 🤔
You know what? As much as I loath Jack Edwards, this was a great call. Even when Flyers got the lead. I think he recognized history was being made, and he was part of it.
He did a great job not being one sided no matter who scored... sounded like a national broadcast
The San Jose Sharks and Washington Capitals have worse playoff chokes than the Boston Bruins.
Just sayin'.
I've have never been happier than when I watched this.
As a flyers fan, this is the best and worst season in recent history...
Duane Brady Not sure we can call things recent when they happened 10 years ago
Its too bad the Flyers lost in the 2010 Cup Final, because this would’ve been a miracle playoff run for the books. Although the 3-0 comeback is still a piece of history.
Kids who have grown up in New England this century have no idea how spoiled they were. Having multiple world championships in football and baseball, and a title in basketball and hockey.
What an amazing series
