Accidentally discovered this amazing arranging on Spotify! I think this arranging is in 6/8, however, Emilie's phrasing makes me feel more like a 2/2, which is much smoother than a 6/8 would be! He is wonderful player. I'm from Buffalo, NY and had the chance to open for Elizabeth Shepherd in a band with my young (14/16) sons. When I heard her version (w/ Reg) of Poinciana I learned it nearly note/note and Ms. S invited me to perform it with her. I really hate it when guitarists much younger than I play things I didn't think to play and I have to swallow my pride. But he sounded great on that recording and sounds marvelous here. All the musicians here and on the "Beat Goes On" album are stellar. What I love about your artistry Emilie is that unlike so many younger (and some older) jazz singers, you make the composition your own without totally rewriting the melody. My comment reflects my subjective, humble opinion, not critiquing those vocal talents far exceed mine. Thanks for the music.
