Thanks! You saved me. I was about to complain and ask for a refund because I just couldn't figure out how to get the wires in!? (bought on AliExpress so no instructions of course) 👍
Thank you! But where can I find the link to your next video? Your two videos "Foot switch for floor lamp" and "Foot switch for floor lamp" are identical..
I couldn't find it, either. But, it's pretty much the same thing in reverse. I took the old switch apart so I could what I was pushing down to lock the wire. Primitive set up with cheapo parts.
MY FRIEND HAS A FLOOR SWITCH TO HIS NEW FLOOR LAMP IT GOES ON OK WHEN YOU STEP ON IT, BUT TO TURN IT OFF WE HAVE TO KEEP SNAPPING IT FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN OUR HAND AND IT THEN SHUTS OFF. IS THERE A WAS TO FIX THIS SO WE CAN JUST STEP ON IT TO TURN IT OFF AGAIN. STEPPING ON IT WILL TURN ON THE LAMP JUST FINE, ITS JUST NOT SHUTTING OFF BY STEPPING ON IT ANYMORE. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK WE COULD DO WITH THE SWITCH SO IT WILL SHUT OFF AGAIN WITH STEPPING ON IT AGAIN? THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE US!!!
Thank u soo much for taking time to post most helpful, excellent video explain! Switch stopped working, took it apart (wires aren't copper), jiggled, worked, thankfully w/o having to strip ends, etc. Are European light wire switches different than US manu, have to "switch directions" on them? Where's the "up next" part in case I have to go to complete new pedal (there is no other on/off choice). If it weren't for your video, I would have smashed it. TU!!
Can you replace the foot switch with the more traditional rotating switch because these floor switches do not seem to last very long. If so how or is there a website or video on how to do that? So far I'm not finding anything.
Once the wires have been removed from the old switch, just slide the wires into the same holes on the new switch. There is a spring on the inside that will automatically clamp upon the wires when inserted. No need for any tools to connect the wires. Once the wires are inserted, go ahead and close the unit back up and fasten closed with the screws on the bottom.
thank you for your info - however please note when saying "eye glasses screwdriver " well this is abit broad a term - i would rather say a screwdriver with a 2mm tip as I tried with smaller tipped screwdrivers and was going mad thank you yet again

This is why RUclips is so valuable. I just found I what I need. Thanks bro for making this video.
Thank you! The valuable information was where/how to insert the screwdriver to make the switch “open” to accept the wire 👍🤗
Thank you for the awesome video. I was able to save a lamp with a broken foot switch versus throwing it away!
Was struggling to open a similar switch, your video cleared it up. Thanks.
This is why RUclips is as valuable a tool as a hammer or screwdriver... thank you very much!
I HATE the floor switch on my floor lamp! Can I rewire it to get rid of it and put a "normal" switch on it?
mine seems to be glued shut vs screwed. Is it safe to pull it apart? I've separated the two black circles at the edge but it's still very connected.
Why the hell would you break this up into two parts?
awesome explanation I was able to fix a beloved floor lamp that I thought I was going to have to trash . Thank you !
Yeah! The smaller internal switch assembly is quite a universally available part ie incorporated in several sizes of switched applications.

Can I just remove the switch entirely and just connect the wire somehow safely
I couldn't the get release to work. Your video showed the way. Thanks
This is the only video related to my switch and you haven't shown how to complete the task. 😩
For anyone else coming upon this, the wire ends just push in to the new switch. Push in quite firm
How can I make my peddle stay engaged? So it will stay on.
How do you know which is live wire? Mine are the same color

Lowe’s has them, too.

I have the same question regarding the rotating switch being used as replacement
thanks a lot! I didn't know how to open the wire trap and this video explained it well :D
Really helpful, thanks.
Mr LWS said there would be a second video to show how to wire in a replacement switch. I need it; I finished this work and can't proceed Thanks

@@NoManHasBlindedMe I push the wire in but it does not get "clamped" by a "spring".
Where’s the next video?
