This is my second time preaching to Burmese people in burmese. I live in the Milwaukee area and there are many Burmese speakers. I'm so glad these lesson plans are available.
@@rglyle57 Thank you for the prompt reply! You did include some other letters which you stated are rarely used. Is there a distinction between these particular letters that caused you you leave them out?
Thanks for asking. I would say at least a year to accurately be able to read 90% of text-knowing the sounds of consonants, vowels and tone symbols. However, real reading ability only comes as a result of reading words, not letters and combinations. That kind of reading will take many years. So by focusing on learning words and phrases you will become a much better reader. Don't let that discourage you. If there are selected texts you want to be able to read, try to learn the meaning of the words you're reading-it will definitely help.
I am learning Burmese too. We are telling the good news to the Burmese people here too. Your videos will prove very useful to our brothers and sisters.

Thank you so much! I like to learn from a mixture of native Myanmar speakers and native English speakers. This is very helpful.
It's true - we need all the different 'angles' we can get!
Thanks for the lessons. Very clear. Easy to understand.
Very helpful and easy technique of foreign language learning. Thanks sir.

I am learning burmese because my boyfriend is burmese. I’m using flash cards like you suggested thx for the video
The best way to learn the alphabet is to look up nouns on Wiktionary and simply try to transliterate them on the spot. It becomes like a game.
Thank you very much.Very useful for the first Myanmar Language Learning person like me.
Excellent! Thank you for the hard work in putting this together for us!
Very sound advice. A well made and useful video.

VERY USEFUL WAY TO TEACH BY YOU
Hi Bob. Thanks for this video. One question though. Did you intentionally skip the letters in the third line from the top?
This video does not discuss it but the letters on the third line are pronounced exactly as the letters on the fourth line. They are used very rarely.

@@phillipprice43 No there is no distinction.

How long did it take you to fully be able to read Burmese?

You forgot ဋ, ဌ, ဍ, ဎ, they aren't in the first video nor the 2nd, otherwise the videos are great.
