    TV commercials were originally supposed to be about advertising based on information about the product.
    That has changed, though. Now commercials are about marketing an "experience" as in "buy this hat and you can _feel_ like this". Which is a lie, of course. But it works, especially on women. Our economy is going to explode. It's built on crap.

    That Lincoln movie was a crock of shit, I can't believe Jimmy takes it at face value.
    The real Lincoln wrote in his own diaries that if there was any way to win the war without abolishing slavery he would do it. Slavery wasn't even discussed in the early stages of the civil war, which you'd expect it to have been if it was the primary cause. Movies like Lincoln are just revisionist history on celluloid, it's writers today projecting their own values back through history. There is no evidence anywhere that Abraham Lincoln was this conscientious man who was motivated by some deep, moral objection to slavery.

  • @SighTology
    @SighTology 7 месяцев назад

    Really love to hear the HS drop out explain what the Civil War was really about it. Surprising how his interpretation fits his racist ideology.

  • @OniSyphon
    @OniSyphon 7 лет назад +7

    Anthony talking about the civil war is always cringe worthy.

    • @E101ification
      @E101ification 5 лет назад +4

      Why, because he doesn't just parrot what he was taught in school?
      The civil war was not about slavery. Do some research. Anthony was actually right when he said the abolition of slavery was something done to hurt the south. That's literally what all the evidence points to.

    • @dorpth
      @dorpth 5 лет назад +3

      Ha ha, "do some research". You know you're onto a winning argument when the only retort is GOOGLE IT!
      "Literally all evidence!" What an embarrassing thing for an adult to write. Here, I'll actually provide you with the "research". And you don't even have to make an argument that it was about slavery, because the Confederate states declared it in their own words within the Declaration of Causes of Seceding States.
      www.battlefields.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states
      Preserving slavery was a top priority for them. It was mentioned in every states' declaration, and they made sure to cement its preservation right in their constitution. Imagine putting slavery in the bill of rights up there with free speech and right to trial. That's how shit the Confederacy was. There wasn't a single admirable thing about it.
      It's amazing how many racist apologists try to make the argument "It wasn't about slavery it was about the South's economy!" Well yeah, because the South's entire economy was built on.........
      (bonus shit points for the Confederacy being all about the classic "states' rights" bullshit, then whining in the Declaration of Clauses how all the free states wouldn't return runaway slaves, because only THEIR wishes should extend beyond state lines. Only the shittiest of people would cheer for those assholes)

      @Magnus Fullauto Comparing the 19th century Democratic party to he 21st century is a common mistake by those ignorant of the party realignments over a roughly 100 year timespan. The Republican party was centered in the industrial North, and belived in strong federal powers (i.e. the Union). The Democratic party at the time was heavily based in the Antebellum South and used the argument of "reserved powers" as a justification for slavery (not too dissimilar to how Republicans use the same state's rights argument for most disagreements with Federal authority). As someone else arleady posted, this was obviously untrue, as slavery was the de facto reason listed for their treason in the majority of the Southern state's declarations for secession.
      As should be obvious, the Democratic party today is based heavily out of urban centers, and often looks for solutions through federal actions. The GOP party is strongest in rural counties, and Southern states. The latter are also far more likely to use the reserved powers argument to protest civil rights' actions (i.e. affirmative action, equal pay discrimination, "pro-choice", same-sex marriage, etc.)
      If you actually want to learn more about the party realignment's and why it's inaccurate to even compare them to their historical counterparts, then I'd recommend you at least start reading up on Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal coalition and Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy":

      @@E101ification No because he's uninformed. Slavery was the main issue of the war. Whether or not Emancipation was done as a calculated tactic to further deplete the South, or a moral imperative (or, you know, both, since things tend to happen for more than one direct reason), the fact remains that the issue of slavery is what made the Confederacy secede, and it's specifically mentioned in their constitution.
