This is a marvellous example of why engineering is so important to make a better vacuum cleaner! The Belaco stick vac couldnt even pick up sawdust let alone deep clean yet with the exact same motor a Shark has a brushroll with potential grooming action and a slightly better but pathetic attempt at a cyclone!
Fantastic repair and Demo Sam . You can see why shark is out selling the Dyson I the Uk. The carpet lines and grooming you know it’s getting deep down into the pile . Keep up this great content . Your channel is a delight of information and entertainment.👍👍
Oh yeah it works! Seems to work very well. I can still almost smell burning plastic when I hacked my Shark NV340 with the sebo motor. I used soldering iron to cut inside plastics to make the Sebo motor fit to my NV340😂
Absolutely brilliant mate!! £24 and an hour later - success!!! Possible career change?? Many, many thanks. I'm hooked on the channel now, win or lose...
I used to hate on shark on a regular basis. I have since changed my opinion and have similar thoughts as roger does on them now. They actually do a fine job for what they are. They are a disposable vac for the general consumer, but in the hands of collectors like us, they can last as long as you need them to. They are also really great cleaners and if I ever need a bagless (I rarely do) I always reach for a shark now.
Your right, it was a close collector friend who swears by them that made me tinker with this! I've given it some ore refurb abuse too and it's taken it!
@@beko1987 yeah I never listed to the shark fans until I owned one myself and now I own like 8 of them. I thing I hate working on are the new Duo cleans heads. hi Sam thank you you are spoiling me now two Shark videos now, i love my NV 680uk, i highly recommend that you try and track down a more up to date model with the revolutionary Duo Clean and Anti-hair wrap they are astoundingly good if you can try and get either the Az950uk xl( The Apex in America) or the AZ910UKT and if you can try and get one of their cordless models too i have IZ251UKTDB triple battery which has 120 minutes run time
I've already tracked some down! But yes, especially after joining the fb groups I need to own one to see just how people are trashing them so much! And I can't moan and groan about the floorhead I currently have too much as it's obselete now. 2021 should see some updates!
I've actually just spent £50 replacing my motor section for my shark lift-away nv601uk. I stupidly hoovered up a wet carpet and the motor has stopped working. I took it apart to see if I could dry it out but no such luck. I don't have the technical expertise/equipment/time to invest in trying to salvage it, but seems a shame to throw away something that's potentially worth £50 if repaired. I don't suppose you want to give it a go and see if you can find it a good home?
No, your right! They vanished. However qualtex sell brilliant quality motors (identical to the originals, make of that what you will 😂) for £40 and I've fitted 4 so far 😂 (filters literally drying right now on one I did last night)
Can you do one where you teach us how to put the motor back, or how to solder vacuum wires or how to replace parts of it. I have a Shark UV700 and I'm struggling how to fix it. I can't find any exact videos on this model. I would be eternally grateful.
Sure can, but if its the same as ours, there's 2 wires running from the motor housing, up the back to by the switches. I cut the wires somewhere on that run, then you can fit the motor more easily. Have the motor housing sat upside down with the motor in it, properly on its back rubber, then slide the other half of the machine over it, making sure to seat the rubber gasket for the wires and poke the wires through wherever they need to go. Then do up the screws needed to hold it in place and solder up the cut wires
Gah bad luck, very common though. Look in the playlist and there's a video on how to fit the motor from this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/All-in-1-corded-Upright-Vacuum-Cleaner-Red-700W-handheld-stick-bagless-/313654172753?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 into one 👍😊
Hi, Just found your channel which is absolutely excellent! I need to replace the main motor on my NV801UKT 40. I couldn't find anything that looked like your 'replacement' Belaco vac. Do you have a link or suggestion for an alternative motor? Many thanks. Alan
Once you've done one shark their all the same! They don't seem to change the core design at all, just shove different external bits on. We'll worth getting into, their very lucrative
I did wonder how far I'd go, but the restricted air path would make a silly powerful motor burn out quickly I fear. Who knows, one cay we might try it!
@@beko1987 find a broken duoclean I have 801UK which I hope is the duoclean otherwise mind playing tricks! Anyways same fitting as machine you just fixed so you swap heads/bases over due to ease of the liftaway.
Thanks for this video! Managed to fix mine up and get it working but the new motor still isn't quite secure enough, and spins itself out (and disconnects it's wiring). I think it's because the rubber surround bit has gaps around the motor. Any suggestions? Cheers
Hi Beko 1987 I'm looking for somewhere to get a replacement motor for my NV680UKT 40 upright vacuum and shark have told me it's discontinued and we don't have proof of purchase as it was so long ago we bought it. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction if you new of a model/make for the motor?
It's a BUVC135. However I've bought a BUVC134a and it's motor is the same size and also 100w more powerful (it's the awful looking stick vac one, and it is awful 😂)
Too bad you don't have the same current as we do here in the USA. I looked at a older light purple Shark that I don't remember the model number right now for a neighbor. The brush roll housing was trashed as they bearing seized or the brush roll was in right and it was spinning and chewed up the plastic nozzle. Plus it had a split hose so I took it apart and kept the motors out of it.
