I like that he's not afraid to actually flavor a steak. Seems like everyone else on RUclips does the exact same thing: salt, pepper, garlic. It's boring.
Great video !!! It would be amazing if you could make a video with different marinades and/or vs different times in marinade. Cheers and keep up the great work
That was a great experiment Ninja! I would have expected the marinated steak to be the winner. I never have tried a dry rub on steak, but I will now!!!
I typically dry brine my steaks, for at least 12 hours. The salt in your rubs will draw out the moisture in the steak, and the moisture will re-enter the steak after a bit of time, creates a juicier, more flavorful steak, and with the nice rubbed crust to boot. uncovered in the fridge should do good
I followed the dry rub recipe, assuming you meant smoked paprika. It was a mistake! Plus it was way too salty. We had to throw the meat away after a few bites because of the salt level. It would’ve been much better had I used half the salt, perhaps.
About 12 years ago, I purchased a propane grill (which I ended up selling within a year) and for which I had to marinate everything. That was the only way to add some flavor (lacking) and take away the little propane flavor to them. I’ve only tried marinating a flank steak once with my Weber, but it didn’t compare to the dry rub steak…
@@SaltyTales oh, haven’t used marinades in more than 10 years. Back then I used my good old Weber grill, and tested it against regular salt, pepper and garlic. The simplicity of the these three was better than the marinade…since then I’ve used rubs (including the Ninja rub! )
Man, I just got hungry for steaks. They both looked great. I’m a fan of the dry seasonings too. Jane’s crazy salt is my go to. But I’ll be mixing up some ninja rub to try soon
Let's just start with me saying that when you cut the first steak I wanted to cry. And now the big issue with this test. You are using two completely different seasonings. The rub could have won simply because it's an amazing rub. And even though the marinade is probably amazing as well, the rub was just better. Maybe try making a marinade with the same ingredients as the rub. That's the only way to tell if one truly is better. You're comparing apples to oranges in this test. The video, as always, is a huge win. But the test itself....well....that's a different story. I can't wait to make this rub and marinade recipe. Both look amazing.
I think marinades are more finicky than it looks. The oil helps bring out herb flavors and the acid and salts of the citrus, vinegar, soy etc help get it into the meat. However, if done wrong the meat can get "drier" or conversely mushier if not right... I'm still trying to figure it out myself.
I thought number a was going to win! It looked super juicy. The dry rub must of made a better crust & that always makes a difference! It looks like we are taking things to another level. Salt, garlic powder & black pepper are old news! 😋👍🏾
Hi bro' Ninja !!! 👋😍🇮🇹 Nice experiment, but I think the best choice is based on the type of meat. Sometimes rub is better, sometimes marinade is better. But this always depends on the type of meat ... 🔥😉👍🍻
I agree with you, marinades are used more as tenderizers but some people love to add flavors that way and I was very curious about it! 😀😀 Thank you my brother!
@@SaltyTales Correct my friend. In fact, if you cook meat over a full flame, the marinade is better because you also use it to flip 'n flop the meat, but the marinade is also excellent for stews and braised meats ... (but you, on this channel, don't make them 😜)
It's Thanksgiving. No, we aren't having turkey, I'm grilling steak. My wife is Hispanic and we just got back from seeing her family. Just found your channel. You remind me so much of my in-laws. I'm just smiling and feeling good. I'm subscribed! Great video. Your rub is simple and looks flavorful. Getting ready to make some right now. Looking forward to your other videos. Thanksgiving - steak... and tamales! LOL you know we had to make some while we were there. (my guero tamales are the best) lol
Superman are we gonna do more live chats? I would love to share thoughts and ideas 💡 speaking of which are you gonna do that pastrami vs corned beef cook on the brisket? When you do I hope to get a shout out or maybe an invite lol I'm in Orlando lol💯❤
I know I'm older than you......... but any chance I can get adopted (without Rights of Survivor-ship of course).. so I can EAT at your house every few days!!! and that mortar and pestle are HUGE. Great vid ST.
Sad to see you stopped posting i just ran into your videos and love em brotha, wish you the best in whatever you’re doing
Your production quality keeps getting better! Keep it up - love the content.

yea
Going dry! I have a party coming up and I was worried about making a bad marinate for the meat. You just made my life easier. Thank you.
Always good test cook the meat and your marinade
Great stuff Ninja! I love the experiment!!!🥩🥩
Thank you my brother!! 😀😀
Fantastic Video! “Never rub your Rub” is good advice.
LOL Thanks brother! 😀
Great video !!! It would be amazing if you could make a video with different marinades and/or vs different times in marinade. Cheers and keep up the great work
I'll work on it! Like the idea! 😀😀
Great Video. Mouthwatering Steaks!!!!! best greetings from germany

Hi, How much rosemary and time to add to the rub? Thanks!
Nicely done ninja.. February month is a been a good start for me and now is the year of the tiger for lunar new year
Yeah baby!!! those are GREAT news! 😀😀
What’s the longest you should (or can) dry rub marinade? Thanks!!

Marinaded churrasco is great but you should definetaly try some nice rubs on your steaks. It will take it to new levels! 😀

Both steaks are looking awesome and many thanks for another great comparison 👍👍👍
Thank you so so so much! 😀😀

Heck yeah brother! You know what's good! 😀😀
Ever heard of chicken tikka masala. Care to try any yogurt based marinades?
Pardon me, but what is the "ninja starch"? At least RUclips CC spelled it this way.
Great video! Thank you!

This guy has great energy
I have a prime ribeye cap steak (just the cap tied into a steak shape) I have to try the rub on it tonight!
The best cut of steak there is! ribcap.
Damn. Now i'm hungry... 🤤
LOL Thank you my brother! 😀
Yes. You succeeded in making me hungry! :D
Both of those steaks looked sooo good, something popped in my head with an ancient Gene Wilder/Teri Garr quote: "What Knockers!"
What if you did a simple marinade… and THEN did a dry rub on the same steak. I might have to try that
Could you dry rub the steak then marinade it? Or other way around. Best of both worlds? Was another great video for sure.
I WILL EAT EITHER ONE. THEY BOTH LOOKED AWESOME!
where is the your recipe for the dry rub
I thought number a was going to win! It looked super juicy. The dry rub must of made a better crust & that always makes a difference!
It looks like we are taking things to another level. Salt, garlic powder & black pepper are old news! 😋👍🏾
I was as surprised as you too and yes, flavors on the rubbed one were amazing! Thank you so much my friend!
Mr and Mrs Ninja, i will buy you some islas canarias croquettas if you invite me to a bbq. 😂
LOL Worthy! Let's to it! 😀😀😀
Deli deli, wow you guys made me
........., love you guys, por la sombrita
arroz con coco, ensalada de 🥑
LOL We already made arroz con coco! It was CRAZY Good! 😀😀
Why no table salt .. I usually use kosher or black lava sea salt ... but never asked why no table salt
Table salt, besides the mineral issues and iodine content is too fine and will make your meats salty.
Just got home with a rib-eye, think I’ll do the dry rub.
Awesome sir it's amazing 🤩
Oh man! Thank you so much! 😀
I wasn’t gonna go buy meat today but now I think I have to!

Worcestershire is wooster sheer.
Wuster Shur
LOL man you are asking too much from me! 😂😂😂 Thank you so much brother!

U should put both together marinate first then pat off then put dry rub on and let sit.
LOL that is not a comparison that way! 😂😂 Thank you for the idea!
@@SaltyTales just trying to make it better
Very nice video.
Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelishious brother

I'm from Worcestershire. Its wuster-shur, thats it.
LOL I'm the worst person to try and say that! 😂😂😂
Number "B" LOL
I know I just subscribed but can you sear salmon with mayonnaise! 🔥
Sure! Added to the list!
Eyyy, you're verified!
YAY! 😀😀
Yeah, I prefer dry rub too.
Yeah baby! 😀

LOL Man we closed the factory long time ago! 😀😀 but if you are around you are more than welcome to try my food! 😀
@@SaltyTales I ain't talking ordering NEW.... I'm talking RENTAL... anyway.. If I ever get to FL. I'll take you up on that.
So I’ve actually done a 72 hour marinade then followed with a dry rub.
am hungry😀😀😀
number B or letter 1 lol
Notification squad in the house 🏡
Yeah baby! 😀😀😀
None of that homie only salt, pepper &garlic powder and it will be the bomb 💣
LOL I'm a SP guy and use it must of the time but ther eis no question a good rub can take steaks to new levels 😀
@@SaltyTales yes you are right brother. 😁🥩
Try it on a sirloin and I betcha the marinade will win
As an Englishman it hurts to hear Worcestershire get butchered like that.
It's either "Wus-ter-shur" or "Wus-ter-she'er".
Big doins in Crimea
Marinade all the way don't like dry rubs
LOL There we go!! 😀😀 Thanks brother!
😎👍
