Mike this totally sucks. I am sorry for you and your family. I reserved a First Edition Glacier EV6 as well. But due to a miscommunication won't be getting it. I think it was smart to not close out the claim just yet. My wife and daughter were rear ended in our full size van. We repaired the damage and their necks were a little stiff and backs hurt some. It wasn't til three weeks later that both my daughter and wife's neck and back problems really came on. Needless to say that was over 15 years ago and my wife's neck has never been the same. So, make sure the doctors give you the good look over a few weeks from now. Stay safe!
Sorry to hear your wife is having lingering issues. And I'm sorry you won't be getting your car. It is really a great car to drive. I appreciate the advice and will probably end up going to get looked at again.
@@HangingOutWithMike Yes, our FE came in before I expected it. Told the dealer I wasn't sure we were going to get it and another salesman took it as we weren't and sold it in minutes. That sucked as I really like the look of the FE over the GT line. Regardless we have put in a order for a GT Line. Who knows when that will come in. I had hoped to use it to save gas with all the highway commute driving we do. On a side note, I noticed something in your logo, were/are you in 3rd group? I was in 19th group many years ago.
My daughter was rear-ended while stopped by a car doing 45 mph whose driver was also not paying attention and she had the same symptoms. Be sure to do some back and neck stretching to ease the back pain. Ibuprofen to control the inflammation and heat to ease the pain. Also foam rolling her back helped. Good luck.
How long till your daughter was no longer sore and stiff from the accident? I appreciate the advice. I have been looking at foam rollers and now I guess I need to get off the fence and get one. It's funny, my wife has no issues, but the doctor thinks because I watched it happening in the mirror, I tensed up before the impact which is why I am sore and hurting.
Hang in there Mike. I like the suggestion someone made here to ask your insurance company to act on your behalf. If it was me, I would also want the car to be "totaled" out but I wonder if the amount offered would be the price of a replacement or some sort of depreciated value. I'm really glad to hear that the car absorbed the impact so well. I guess in this sort of situation, maybe the heavier car wins? Thanks for posting updates. Wishing you good luck in your medical recovery and a speedy resolution to your dilemma.
I’m glad you didn’t take the offer. My sister in law is going through some terrible back pain, I suggested her to get a lawyer for her accident and injuries which she did. I would recommend that you team up with a lawyer as well as you could start feeling symptoms later down the road as well.
To be honest, I never even considered that there would be monetary payment for pain and suffering. Like I keep saying, this is all new to me. I've been very fortunate this far in my life with never being in a serious car accident.
That sucks man! I just got T boned in my EV6. My front right rim took a lot of the hit. Car won’t drive straight. Camber is off. Hopefully it’s not too bad to repair. Hope there are parts available
I appreciate checking in. I am doing good. We started going to the chiropractor to work on the back/ neck pain. And on the bright side, I finally found a dealer willing to fix the car, but the parts are all on backorder. They are going to order the parts and when they all come in, I will take my car to get it fixed.
Teslas have been getting body repair for some time now. Very odd that Kia EV's are excluded from body shop work. I had realized getting service on newer brand EV's was going to be more frustrating than the purchase process. Seems tire replacement is another more difficult facet of EV ownership.
The place where Teslas get fixed in my area is the one body shop I found that will take my car. Nobody else knows how to deal with the battery or even have charging stations if the repairs require test drives. That is the reason the body shops gave me when I called around.
Ugh, all that disruption because someone else couldn't pay attention on the road. Despite the inconvenience, if it were my car I'd rather it be totaled just because all the little misalignments that occur from such accidents. Later something is removed but then won't go back in place because of released stress. If it is totaled out, would you get another EV6 or switch. I was rear ended in my KIA Spectra5 SX by a car just like it (even the same paint) so the bumpers lined up perfectly and the damage was well contained. Their license plate bolts were stuck in my back bumper cover but no real injuries to speak of. The wasted time afterwards is what I remember disliking the most. I have to come clean though, I have rear ended someone myself, except in a trickier circumstance.
I am with you, I would rather it be totaled just to be done with it and not have to deal with issues down the road. I understand accidents happen, but when it is a sunny day, on a straight road with stoplights less than a mile apart, I just don't get how you don't see a bright white car stopped at a stop light. The most frustrating part is that I could not do anything as I watched him in the rear view mirror as he hit me. If it gets totaled, I would definitely get another EV6 as long as I can find one in stock. I love the car and with the price of gas, it makes sense for me to get another EV because I drive 60 to 100 miles each day.
This is a big problems with new electric cars and one I am afraid of happening. The idea that you're driving a glass piano and having no one able to repair it if it gets damaged. I just hope you can find someone who can repair it soon. It's too bad kia couldn't direct you to a mechanic that can repair electric cars.
This was my biggest fear too. Kia in the next city over did tell me of the only shop they knew of that works on electric vehicles. Apparently it is the same one Tesla uses so that is why it is booked two months out.
Nope, it's a Kia issue. There are no parts because all parts are going towards production, even though I am not a fan of how the insurance is handling it.
Confused. Are you communicating with your insurance company or the insurance company of the driver who was at fault? Are you in a no fault insurance state? What is the deductible on your collision policy? Once you went to the doctor and received treatment of pain which you believe is from the collision. You need to immediately hire an injury attorney to represent you. You cannot accept any settlement for 12-24 months. You may have long term pain and suffering as well as expensive treatments with physiatrists and physical therapy, loss of wages, productivity, etc. Lawyer up buddy fast. Also, you most likely have the right to have your vehicle repaired at the shop of your choice.
I am dealing with the other insurance company. I gave my insurance company a heads up but they said go through the other guys insurance. As far as the repair shop of choice, I am limited because most shops will not work on an electric vehicle. The only one I found was recommended to me by the dealership I bought my car from. And I guess I need to re-look getting a lawyer. I have never been in this situation before so I really appreciate the advice.
@@HangingOutWithMike Your insurance company should handle your claim. Since the other driver is at fault, your company will use subrogation to recover their costs of repairing your car. The other driver's company has no interest in repairing your car or providing any assistance. You are not their company.

Yes, I was in 3rd Group. I retired back in 2020. You are the first person to say anything about it, hahahaha.

Thank you. I really appreciate the support.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you have better luck getting parts than me.
Sounds like a mess up situation, but hopefully everything works out
I am stuck in a bad situation, but it could always be worse.
Hey Mike , just checking in with you. Is there any update on getting your car repaired. How is back? How are you feeling? I hope all is well.

Amazing Kia can sell electric cars but cannot repair them. WTF? Kia. If your car can be written off better for you with new car replacement.
I agree. I was surprised that Kia's body shop would not work on it, but with every new product, there is growing pains. I just happened to be unlucky.
