I didn't expect this movie at all, BUT when I watched it I had to go back to watch it three more times because it was so much fun. Each character's acting was so good.
Love everything about this movie! Good origin story, great cast and awesome action scenes. Simu, Meng'er, Awkwafina, and Tony definitely nailed the role. I also love what writers and director did with the power of the ten rings but I do suspect it may have been invented by Phastos (Eternals) since the rings are so advanced and also very ancient at the same time. Eternals came to Earth 5000 yrs ago while Xu Wenwu found the ten rings 1000 yrs ago (Sersi and Phastos made lots of ancient & advanced weapon artifacts in Eternals movie) OR the rings could be from another universe that may be connected to Kang variant. Hopefully marvel studios will add more asian actors for the sequel and make the Shang-Chi family bigger.
I would really like to see a Shang-Chi and Netflix's Iron Fist to team up on the sequel or possibly make a miniseries "HEROES FOR HIRE" for Disney+ with same actors of Netflix's Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Shang-Chi as the new recruit (while Daredevil's temporary absence which Defenders team thought that he died under the collapsing building in last episode of Defenders) while Daredevil could possibly appear in ECHO tv series with Kingpin.
Shang chi’s real power is his ability to turn against his Asian dad.

This is my sister's comfort movie. She was in a really bad car accident and had to go into surgery. They thought it would only take a few minutes so didn't put her under. It was a two-hour procedure, and she was awake the entire time. She was watching TV and this trailer was playing almost on repeat. My friend took me to see this movie, and this was the first MCU movie I saw. It was amazing. Then I dragged my sister into it and she watches this all the time. I think she feels a connection with it because she was in the hospital with this on. Anyways, that's that. The movie that started it for me and her.

I felt in love with this movie! I was so long expecting something like this - chinese mythology, kung fu art, fantasy unexpectable cool scenary - all the peaces are in place! Its strange that it has only 8.76 rating! Its amazing to watch such a professional and graceful actors kung fu art and at the same time absolutely free being actor playing! Ten, all ten points, no less!

He was a spinoff of character from the Fu Manchu crime novels by Sax Rohmer from whom Marvel had obtained a license to create Shang Chi as Fu Manchu's son. It was Marvel's way of cashing in on the popularity of the Kung Fu televisions series with David Carradine when it couldn't get a license to do a comic book version of the show. After the popularity of kung fu movies waned Shang Chi continued to appear as a guest character in other Marvel comics like Iron Fist but Marvel underplayed his connection to the Fu Manchu world after its license expired.
In this revisioned version of Shang Chi, his father is The Mandarin, not the fake one in the MCU portrayed in Iron Man 3, but the comic book version who was an actual powerful Chinese supervillain with 10 rings, each granting him different powers (Marvel wanted to avoid use of the comic book version in Iron Man 3 to avoid political issues with China that might have prevented its release there).
Movie casts stayed in our hotel in Sydney. I used to have a quick chat with Simu every evening after shooting. He really worked hard during making. He was always exhausted at the end of the night but after all It was worth it
Easily the best stand-alone movie in Phase 4 and in the running for best origin story in the MCU 🤷♂
I believe it is the best origin story in the MCU. I would have Black Panther as #1 but it technically isn’t an origin story since he was already Black Panther in civil war.
Shang-Chi is on a whole different level from the rest of Phase 4 and what we got so far in phase 5.
