Skin Cancer: How to spot melanoma warning signs

- Опубликовано: 4 авг 2022
- Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the cells that produce skin color. The American Academy of Dermatology says regular skin checks can help identify melanoma warning signs. They can also help you tell the difference between melanoma and other non-cancerous spots. Alex Osiadacz explains.

I’ve had eight moles removed. I worked in the field. I had one mole left, light, flat, symmetrical. One day I noticed that that mole had turned black overnight. I had to convince my dermatologist to take it out. It was a melanoma: black, round, flat. Nothing incongruous except that my eyes knew it was a melanoma. So, follow your instinct. You know your body better than a doctor.
Pestiside is caused it and sun
Amen to tuning in as it is stealth
Wow, thank you so much. Those are great things to be aware of very clear and understandable. Thank you.
This video is something we all need. I've never had a doctor show me what melanoma was. How do you know if you can't identify it?
I’ve had three , all different , one looked and behaved like a basal cell , another was a round weeping sore ( I thought it was an infection) and the last looked and felt like a wart

How are you doing? Recently diagnosed a couple months ago. It’s so hard.
My melanoma was pink. Also had squamous cell carsanoma hidden in a wrinkle on my neck. I am a boomer that soaked up the sun since the 60s. No sunscreen back then but i'd love to do it all over and never lay in the sun. 73 years old and go to dermatologist every three months.please take care of your skin. You will regret it if you don't
Thank you
Thank you.
Thank you. I was unfamiliar with the D's and E's 😊
Informative.
Thank you for sharing 🙏💫🤞
Maybe for better understanding the physician should talk plainly for some people on this matter .
Good to know
My melanoma didn't have any of the ABC 's but dermatologist caught it at stage 0.
What were the symptoms?
@@JessG_20 There may be no symptom as i believe in this case. Cancer silently develops before symptoms. Years ago studies showed animal consumption by humans stores in fat a certain way which negatively reacts to the rays. Of course Dr. Colin Campbell is a current leader in research. The China Study book is worthwhile to read. To note is regarding cancers & tumors disappearing when stopping the animal product consumption, but coming back in growth when returning to eating them. Cancer grows like a fungus. Pack in the green cruciferous vegetables for a start & then study well prayerfully.
What have been great had they showed more pictures of the video isn't what it actually looks like instead of so much talking
NB:The ABCDE's pertain to melanoma skin cancers ONLY. However, I had an innocent and unchanging tiny 4 mm symmetric circular painful spot for a year on my back that turned out to be dangerous squamous cell carcinoma. Family doctors and even dermatologists miss many or most, which is why a friend of mine died a slow, gruesome death when her doctor dismissed it. Always DEMAND a biopsy, it's the only way dermatologists can tell.
Thank you very much for the tip. I went to see my doctor today for 2 moles appeared this year (one appeared 2 days ago suddenly on my finger). He told me it is nothing (naeva). He doesn't even have a magnifying glass to inspect them, just a light and eyes. :( I insisted for a prescription to go to see a dermatologist. Here in France due to terrible medical choices by politics since 20 years, we are in a awful shortage of dermatologists. A normal appointment is bare minimum 3 months. Even more. I succeeded to get an urgent meeting thanks to my doctor prescription letter.
But a dermatologist can miss. I will insist to get a biopsy because even if my 2 moles are 2mm diameter, when I take a photo and zoom on in, I don't like the look of them.
With a biopsy you are sure. So again thanks for the tip. If my dermatologist tells me it is nothing, I will insist a biopsy is done.
Better be sorry than regret. Once the cancerous cells metastase in your body, you are doom.
I could only dream about biopsy in UK 😢
I went to Kaiser to have some growth's burned off with nitrogen, Kaiser did not want to send me to a dermatologist, my primary had to do it, she has never done it before, she gave me a little squirt and said thanks, I told her that is not how it is done, I told her to keep spraying until my arm lefts off the table in pain.
How did yours start? Was it itchy? I have this spot on my back that I originally thought was a spider bite or some type of bug bite. It itched bad for a couple weeks, then seemed to be healing up but a dry scaly dark spot remained. Then I noticed a couple weeks ago that it felt bumpy and it had some tiny blackheads in it. I squeezed them, now the whole thing just looks like a burn or a scab (like if you were to skin your knee and it scabs over) its been 4 months since this all started, and it just isn't going away so I'm thinking it's cancer at this point
@@JessG_20 Yep - if it's been 4 months, a biopsy is needed. It doesn't sound like melanoma - but squamous and even basil cell carcinoma can be dangerous. It doesn't mean they are because most aren't. But you never know so insist on a biopsy. DO NOT take "NO" for an answer.
The last one I had on my arm this year was a 5 mm diameter painless pimple that turned out to be a not terribly dangerous form of squamous cell. In contrast, the 2nd last one I had, 3 years ago - a tiny squamous pimple - was very small (4 mm in diameter) but painful to the touch. A hospital doctor opined it to be harmless seborrheic keratosis, while my family doctor didn't know either. So he sent me to a dermatologist who thought it was basil cell carcinoma, which also turned out to be wrong.
He passed me on to a plastic surgeon whose main line of work was reshaping women's butts. While he got the diagnosis right, he got the borders wrong during the excision at the hospital. Without explanation, he covered up his error and
dumped me back to my family doctor who then passed me on to a very nice Chinese lady plastic surgeon. Fortunately, she got it right. I told her before the surgery to err on the side of taking too muck skin off - if in doubt. She took me up on my offer and I was left with a 9 cm. scar on my back.
In short - be as assertive as you need to be to get a biopsy. I keep remembering the needless and gruesome death from melanoma of a lady bank manager-friend whose doctor reassured her that a certain pimple was nothing to worry about.
I received a similar false reassurance from both my gp AND my dermatologist 30 years ago. Fortunately, I went home and looked at the pictures on the web.
watch for red blotches too. I had three removed recently that were. basal cell cancer.

Chastising myself for not wearing sunscreen religiously
I just had an dysplastic nevus or atypical mole removed from my shoulder. It would have bevome melanoma if not treated. I went in for concern of a different mole that turned out to be ok. Lol. What i will say is this. Be prepared for pain once those lidocane shots wear off. Yeah they numb you really well but then it wears off. They did my 8 mm punch biopsy waited two weeks took out those sitiches out. Then i got excized with a 4 inch incision because there were still cells after the biopsy. So gained 24 stitches total. Glad thats over. Hats sunglasses sunscreen and clothing folks. Take care of your skin.
Just to let you know, I discovered a mole on my scalp that I am certain was melanoma, I got rid of it by first applying a couple drops of tea tree oil mixed with coconut oil and putting it on there then let it dry before applying mixed epsom salt and water and brought that to a boil to form a paste and then applied that on it while still hot and covered it with a band aid twice a day and it was gone within 9 weeks! (you can just set a portion aside after it hardens and use it again day after day by just warming it up on the stove and adding a bit of water to it), it was a darkish glowing black color, it had a lump underneath about half the size of a dime and had been there for about two years but I didn't notice it as it was behind my ear. I also eliminated all sugar and meats except for fish and replaced my morning breakfast with hummus on toast but these days I would look into couscous instead, very nutritious and no sugar!.. Also drink lots of water and get your vitamin c from fruits, and drink carrot and celery juice every day! In re. to couscous, it is excellent in the morning with a mix of chopped fried red peppers, red cabbage, garlic, onions, carrots and green peas adding curry powder and a bit of red chili powder! Very filling and tasty with a glass of orange juice! I am not a doctor but I can tell you that switching your diet to salads for breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of cooked foods will also greatly improve your chances of recovery! Its what I ate through out the time I had it, it was a very black glowing looking mole and its still gone today two years later!.. Just so you know, cooking tends to kill nutrients and all the ELF waves from 5G do not help! They get into the soil and supermarkets killing nutrients in our food! I invite you to look up the following video titled "Dr Sharon Goldberg, 5g Michigan state hearing cell towers " (as well as McGill university director Paul Heroux at the same hearing). That and stress weakens your immune system! Oxygen is very good for the body and mind as well as eating dried seaweed every day (look for Japanese brands). Also so there is a tablet called tagrisso for those with lung cancer but it could be helpful as well for other types, if anyone here has breast cancer, look up drday dot com, for breast cancer.. And Dr Tullion Simoncini also has great treatments that apparently work!
If you got rid of the mole could you be sure it hadn't gone anywhere else just stressing as I have a mole gone black and increased in size being checked next monday. Thankyou
well it just worked for me and it did not go anywhere else but it is important to treat them, it did not come back so that was good..@@sylviachadwick6471
I would give your body a chance to defend itself on its own, because if you dont change your diet, it may come back even after they cut it out and when they cut the mole out, they risk the chance of it bleeding and spreading elsewhere into the body I think so I would cancel that and apply the treatment that worked for me.. God bless@@sylviachadwick6471
@@sylviachadwick6471could you please give me more details about this after your appointment? Its cuz I have pimple like structures close to each other, doesn’t cause pain yet doesn’t fade away. I am concerned.
Does melanoma or any form of skin cancer always change in appearance.
I didnt hear them recommend a yearly once over by a Dermatologist. That is important.
Every 3 months for me now mine was one level before melanoma

What happens when a mole disappeared by itself after the area was itchy and inflamed and then skin went back to normal?

@@bobsilver3983 what has that got to do with the current article??? Idiot!
Sounds like your immune system was able to fight off whatever the problem was 😊

I never get sunburnt since I went Carnivore..3 years ago..
Oh sure last skin check doc just said you're fine didnt even look gimme money
I’m just going to ignore it . Life is too short to waste time playing games paying for multiple doctors kid’s college and still not receiving the care needed.
You fool, melanoma kills!
@@judyc9380 I’m not holding my breath hoping the sick care corporations are going to make seeking out healthcare a reasonable course of action. If I die ,I die. At least I didn’t waste the little time I have bouncing around medical centers per required bureaucracy and still not getting what I need in addition to giving away all my lunch money . Thanks for you concern but no thanks , not getting stuck on the US healthcare roundabout.
Call no man a fool but look into natural healing remedies. Doctors may diagnose, but they"re not the best at treating. Our Creator provides and has designed our bodies to heal. Spiritual, mental & physical healing in folliwing His instructions KJV. Jesus loves & redeems & has the very best plan above man's ideas & traditions.

Medic symptoms wording from a doctor, as a person who doesn't practice skin cancer can you word it in such a way I know what your actually saying please , pretend your trying to talk to a kid.
You should look for weird looking moles that aren't circular. If your mole grows bigger or changes color then you should get it checked
