I agree the colors definitely seem very muted especially compared to the original figure. And what’s up with those hips? My vintage figures with years of hard play aren’t that loose! It’s a shame Super7 has yet to address such an obvious issue especially since it seems like it could be easily corrected.
Any and all of these "small" issues probably require some degree of re-tooling, and S7 has shown on multiple occassions (Lion-O, Grune, Tygra. etc) that they aren't really willing to spend that money - unless they have some real shitstorm heading their way.
Half my my Super 7 TMNT figures cannot stand without support. My Metalhead literally flops at the hips like it was coated in space Teflon. My Bebop and Rocksteady are not as bad but still won’t stand for more than a few minutes under their own weight. It’s sad they won’t make any improvements despite the complaints.
The loose hips and small ball joints and pins is what kills it for me feel like there going to snap, love the basic figures but still wish that was updated.
Super7 doesn't care, they'll never fix the joints and defenetly will never put efforts in giving us figures with good gold paint application, this one gold does not look anything like the proto they showed us!
Super 7s let me down with their lack of use of shiny silver & gold . Especially with other companies implementing this technique. Like ramen toys & silver hawks. I was so wanting this guy shiny
One thing I'm surprised no one complained about or that I've seen is the original I have loved is the hands!!! They are missing his signature scorpion and leach!!! I just got the super 7 just now and have the original complete and must say the original feels much better Over all oddly

I understand that the renders aren't "real" but lately it's been ridiculous. The Undercover Raph has most of the deco removed from his accessories, even Super 7/BBTS had to replace the renders because of how much deco was lost. While I'm a sucker for TMNT, I've now cancelled all my Power Rangers pre-orders until I actually see a review for one because those face renders aren't doing them any justice now, I'm not sure what they'll be like in person.
The red and blue look great. But that gold does look muted for a metallic. Also as for the hips, I've managed to avoid the loose hips curse, but by now and at this price point, they should have solved this issue. These things aren't cheap
The loose hips are a little worrisome, however it does look nice. You could put all the turtles together to create a village with turtles representing all walks of life. That turtle village would completely obliterate a Smurf village. :P
It's not nit-picky to call it out when they clearly understand the brighter gold looks better and use it for their promo pics. These figures are $55...paint them.
On mine it’s not the hips so much as the waist! The hip assembly inside the lower shell is so loose he flops to one side or the other. Unrelated but I think I figured out the banner. If you put the fabric loops on the point of the hook, rather than trying to get them to stay inside the hook, it stays really well. It’s still an awful design but at least it’s somewhat functional? YMMV.
I'm behind on the line, but my donatello had really loose hips like that. I had to put a lot of kiki liquid in there to stiffin them up, but it worked really well once it was dry. They were actually a little too tight afterward, but i'll take that over too loose.

Ok, I think it looks neat and will buy for sure because it's Samurai Leo... but they really need to step up their game for these "ultimate" figures. I love a lot of accessories, but the legs still being loose, the paint looking a bit bland compared to the original, and you guys don't know how much it erked me when PDAN showed the hooks your supposed to hang the flag from... I mean cmon on they're "ultimates" who saw this and thought it was a good idea to have the hook go down? I also felt like Leo's head should have been a bit lower.
It looks to me like what’s loose is the joint under the shell (waist joint?) the problem with the first two waves is that the thigh swivels and leg hinges didn’t hold well.
Dude, I just got my Sewer Samurai Leo and he isn't cutting it. I swapped heads but the masked face wouldn't snap to the ball joint. So I finally got it in but now he has a broken neck 🤦🏻♂️ On top of that, the holster for his samurai flag somehow broke. Very frustrating and if I can't fix his neck, I'm just gonna toss him
At first I preordered this, but I dropped the preorder not knowing how the end product would be compared to the render. The render looks AMAZING, but seeing this....... YUCK. You are sooo right, the colors are awful flat messes. The red just looks like cheap generic red plastic and the gold isnt gold at all it looks like a flat mustard. And then those leg joints???? Man, I was super excited for this and was going to wait to see it before grabbing it and then getting the surfing Mike and Astro Raph, but if this one is soo far off from the render then I would bet the other two will too.....
The loose joints are actually the reason I’m becoming less and less enthusiastic for these. I live in Europe, so with import tax and shipping these come to almost 100 dollars per figure. After two figs already that can’t stand without help, I ‘m really bummed about these😢
I used some of my super 7 mutagen man parts when I got the 4 pack mutagen man because we didn't get those parts in the 4 pack. The only parts that didn't fit was the apple core and the turtle.
This mold of Leonardo Samurai, the truth is that I did not like it very much, in fact it looks very poor as a painting theme, in addition to this variant type with Samurai armor did not look good on him. That's why the 4 classic ninja turtles S7 is by far spectacular They could have given us another more interesting character, greetings 👏🏻🇦🇷
Got a really nice sculpt and decent paint apps. The loose hips are a shame, but overall I dig it. The shield is giving me major He-Man vibes. I had this figure as a kid, and it's one that stuck out in my mind as one of my favorite TMNT toys, so I'm glad NECA made it.

Do the weapons on the rack fit in the vintage tmnt hands? Have you tried? Most vintage tmnt doesn't have weapons anymore. So that could also be why they include them
next time you interview the super 7 representative, you might want to bring the hip looseness up. some of my turtles also have loose hips, nice review by the way. Any news on board, wanna see what happens with big foot.
You couldn’t use the same paint that you used on metal head. Seems like every figure I buy from super 7 becomes a custom project. I love custom work so it doesn’t bother me to repaint and fix loose joints but not everyone does especially for 55 bucks
ultimates metalhead 2.0. my 2 favorite primates figures with lackluster paint and loose hips 🙄 Slash better be good because he's already in my BBTS pile of loot ready to ship, which was a pleasant surprise. if his hips are loose he'll never stand with his bulk.
That really sucks that the figure isn't the best it could be, especially since the Pre-Order for it was late May of 2021- over 1 year and 3 months ago.
This figure is trash, especially for the amount of money they're asking for. The pictures they had up on BBTS make the gold look bright and vibrant. But this, this comple trash. I'd Pay 15 bucks max. Super 7 screwed up bad on this.
I like the look and sculpting but I think the colors look flat I should it been more metallic colors in it ..and boy o boy the articulation on the hips are to loose as always ..come on Super 7 yall got to fix it ..the loose joints are the reason i stop collecting super 7 figures

The loose hip joints are the fatal flaw of this otherwise phenomenal toyline. It should have been corrected after Wave 1.

Have you guys tried washing the figures? They seem to have some kind of oil added to their hips. Wondering if it would help

They were indeed. Gonna be honest, really disappointed by the final paint here. The gold is so crucial to the vibe of this figure.

All of my ultimates have loose joints so far.
A ice bath for 1-2 mins will help with the loose joints
no it doesn't...once the plastic returns to room temp it'll go back to how it was, unless you display them in your fridge.

super 7 is just trash. I ended up not even finishing getting all four basic turtles. and i was super hyped when the line was first revealed.
NECA blows S7 away quality/price-wise. I wish NECA was doing the toy version of these and S7 was doing the cartoon versions.

Have you seen the Leatherhead? His teeth are bright yellow when they were white on the original toy. It really does make his face look off.

The old school weapons set could be painted and customized. Just a quick idea. That's what i would do with them.
