    Great talk - on the topic of utility power -
    In addition to the steps Michael discusses at 2:00; consider asking the power company to replace your old pole transformer (if you have one). Our utility company was happy to change our 25 year old service transformer for a new one at no cost to us.
    Also - if you have a home backup generator; your transfer switch may buzz and introduce noise into your power as it uses an electromagnetic switch system.
    Our Koehler transfer switch occasionally buzzes. I switch the whole house power on and off to exercise it and the buzz goes away.

    This was a fantastic conversation with Mr. Mikey Fremer. I’ve been a long time fan of his writings, ideas, and philosophies towards vinyl playback, and this in depth talk was especially interesting. He’s just such a huge wealth of knowledge regarding everything analog. Thanks to the SFAS and of course Mikey Fremer.

    I met David Middleton who in the 80's was responsible to set up the CD manufacturing plant in Mississauga Ontario Canada and was tasked to trash the stampers...he gave me the stamper that I carry with me signed in the stamper of John Lenon's Canadian test pressing with test tones...in any event even the great minds at the time were duped...vinyl rules.. glad to see Michael in his real element. Thanks for hosting Michael ...

    I missed the original stream - - goes without saying that Michael carried a lot of the load regarding the revitalization of vinyl playback - - sure, no single person could make it all happen, but I don't think anyone would argue that he is and was a key person in leading the way - - and yeah, he's humble about that fact but he needed be imho. Many many thanks to him from me.

      "he's humble" hahaha!!!

      @skip1835 2 года назад +1

      @@snoopyboobs I know that's hilarious - - but when it comes to taking credit for giving records back to us, he get's serious and always plays it down even though, imho, he's the person that deserves most of the credit - - but yeah, I hear you snoopyboobs, you sayin' that is making me grin ear to ear, after all, we're talking about Michael! Maybe his name should be "Mr. Humble" - - 😂😂

      @@skip1835 Agreed. He's pretty much the reason I heavily got into records. I initially got a cheap a turntable to play some of my dad's old records purely for nostalgia. Fremer opened my eyes to how good vinyl could sound.

    Michael please allow me to contribute in some way to Tracking Angle. I am not a published author or reporter or journalist or columnist in any way but please believe me I'm extremely passionate, intelligent and I'm looking for a new career. I am a huge lover of analogue sound. Please give me a chance.

    Mr Fremer is a good guy but there is a reason he can’t stay employed. Best to do his own thing. He is a bit full of himself. Just because he has been “around” doesn’t mean he knows all. He is the oligarch vinyl guy. Someone needs to take him down a notch. He loves this “I know” and no one else does. He says lots of things but he is one set of ears. Trust no one prove it to yourself. He recommended the 2011 dark side of the moon…but it was not nearly as good as the 2003 press. So….listening is subjective.

  • @cengeb

    Why is the audio and video so poor? "experts"...and drop outs, Fremer has new AC service it sounds better, he said so...he obviously is cluless,

    I love my vinyl but we don’t need vinyl. We need a digital system that does exactly what vinyl does. Vinyl is based on oil….we don’t need more oil more packaging and etc. vinyl is a terrible medium in general

    Look at the video lags and drop outs, how is this guy telling people what anything is, echo, stutter, drop outs, fuzzy, what decade is the basement dweller in?
