It’s nice to see a bass review that features slapping, finger style, AND a pick.

Please bring back some of these nice finishes for the Mercalli 5!

ugh i know. ive been wanting to buy one for a month or two and i can’t convince myself to spend that much money on an instrument that doesn’t look interesting to me. i am not a fan of the standard black finish at all.
what i really want is a mulberry mist mercalli 5, but those sold out ages ago and the used market is dry as hell. I’ve been constantly checking online if one shows up, but nope.
I was hoping NAMM 2022 could mean new finished for this bass, but they chose the decision p bass series.
i just want a 5 string and this is their only option, and seeing the older releases with gorgeous colors makes it impossible for me to be excited about buying the black one available now.
      Here’s to hoping.

That front pick up still offers a nice clear voice. That's very cool.

Pete is a beast. Been following him since I saw him with Zappa Plays Zappa years ago. He is one of the most under rated guys in the industry!

This bass looks and sounds fantastic!
However there was one misconception in this video. A string through body construction does not raise tension on strings in any way. that is only determined by the scale length (the actual length between bridge and nut), the string gauge and the note its tuned to. it only raises the angle of the string to the bridge and therefore increasing the pressure on the saddle which can be beneficial to sustain by making of a more rigid connection between string and bridge.

Good demo. I just got a Reverend Triad four-string and I really love it. Is the neck wider-than-average at the heel? Seems like it to me.
