    I've been a pilot for 45 years with a Commercial License. In all the flying videos I've seen, except one, nobody seems to be able to maintain centerline on final approach. At 00:31, is a prime example. To me it's second nature, a habit, automatic, whatever you want to call it I maintain runway centerline whenever I'm on final... I don't deviate, I pin it every time, all the time.

    • @fingerhorn4

      You can get treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder if you feel it is beginning to dominate your life :) But seriously if your only concern is appearing to be dead straight from a couple of miles out, I would suggest there are other more important things. A gliding instructor who insisted he wouldn't let me go solo unless I demonstrated a constant 55 knots downwind in quite a chop failed miserably when I asked him politely to demonstrate. In fact he was far worse than I was. It's the TREND that matters, not OCD precise alignment every step of the way.

    • @PaulGarthAviation
      @PaulGarthAviation 4 года назад +2

      SteveO would answer more concisely, but could the issue be that the camera is mounted left of center? Keeping it on the centerline was important for landing at TOA - parallel runways 29L and 29R.

      I doubt you nail it everytime. Its impossible. On a calm day (which is rare) sure. Flying in a seat 2 feet left or right in a small plane or 5 feet left or right in a big plane will cause center orientation issues. Minor but it happens. And camera position will distort view.

      @@FlightRisk2010 Interesting for sure. I would feel unsure but that's just me. In a single engine plane I guess that's a definite no way for me. Is there any way a person chartering a plane would be able to know that before flying?

    • @andrewagner9212
      @andrewagner9212 4 года назад

      Bill L The plugs have a life of a good few hundred hours, cleaning them is standard practice and there are two per cylinder, as the ignition system is duplicated.

    • @pittss2c601
      @pittss2c601 4 года назад +1

      Aviation spark plugs suck. They're heavy, stupid expensive (due to liability & low production) and produce a weak spark as created by their crappy aviation magnetos. They do not clean up well via sand blasting. It's a band aid fix to reduce the cost of flying. They are nothing like the technology of an automotive or motorcycle spark plug. 100LL (low lead) fuel fouls them constantly. I have thousands of hours behind lycoming's including a lot of aerobatic time and their technology stinks. I have also built 2 experimental airplanes. That's why so many experimental airplanes/engines are using electronic ignition with automotive spark plugs. Starts better, burns better, lower fuel burn, much lower cost, less fouling due to a much hotter spark etc.
