      Not at all. SCOTTY’s ST model (The first engine they showed) is a Corolla drivetrain and braking system. It’s a turd and brakes like shit.
      The GT shares its engine and brakes with the Camry and quite a few of its running gear with the 254hp GT4 of the same year. That’s why it was easy enough for me to swap mine to a turbo engine.
      All have the same legendary reliability so you might as well go with the turbo engine or at least the 2.2l

    At the very end, with the comment of that the Celica was targated for females makes sense now. Always thought this Celica was the pinnacle in the looks department. However, it only took a test drive in both the Celica vs. Integra GS-R and the winner, hands down, was the GS-R with a 1.8L I-4 with 170 horsepower and superb handling.
    Toyota really should have brought the Celica Turbo with its 250 horsepower engine and AWD to the US.

    • @SupraB007
      @SupraB007 6 лет назад +3

      ErwinSchrodinger64 what do u expect? When you say you target the cars for females. Stupid, the GT-four and the rest of the world had all the more manly Celicas. Nice job Toyota selling the slow Celicas in the US and giving Americans this impression of this great car. I’m sorry but the GT4 is the most aggressive looking Toyota sports car and there’s nothing feminine about it IMO.

      @@SupraB007 This is the reason. Toyota thought the new model is not worth selling in US because of the old model sales figures.

      @@alansmilealot The ST185 Alltrac (The the U,S. DID get, wasn't even that quick, 0-60 in about 7.0 seconds. Surely Pawetsu's sales numbers aren't from the U.S.? They'd of cancelled the car after not even a year with numbers like that! It would have been nice to get Europes base engine in the GT at least! The 3S-GE non turbo and it made around 170 hp in that guise. Better than an overstroked 2.2 with a pathetic 135 hp.

    I recently sold my 94 celica st, renaissance red like this one, and imported a 93 toyota soarer with the 1jz-gte. Surprisingly, I really miss the celica. the handling and cornering were fairly balanced so even with the little 1.8 liter motor it was still a blast to drive. next year though I'm considering selling the soarer in favor of importing the 94 celica gt-4, probably my true dream car.

    This was the final round of great Toyotas. Starting in 1997 the Camry was de-contented. The business people had gained control of Toyota. Until then, the cars appeared to be engineered without regard to cost. The LS400 had no compromises. Neither did the early 1990s Camry.

    Can we just appreciate how much the technology under the hood has advanced in 20 years. I'm driving a 2014 Lexus ES350, a much heavier and roomier car with a 3.5 liter V6. About 140 more horsepower than this Celica, does 0 to 60 in 3 seconds less, and gets better gas mileage to boot according to EPA figures. I'm averaging 25mpg driving it like I stole it, slow down to 70 and its 30-31mpg

    I'm going to wait 3 or 4 years to buy this once the depreciation is all through. Only a guy with deep pockets would buy this off the lot.

    Thumbs up if you think that Scotty Kilmer should do a "Motorweek-style" review on his channel
    "This Chrysler is a rolling pile of junk" Endless Moneypits
    "This car just about fell apart in the slalom course"😂
    "After the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile runs, the engine overheated & blew up"🤣
