Look at Elrond's facial expressions in this scene, amazing acting. Happiness, sadness and pride, all without a word. He doesn't want to let go of his daughter, but know it's the best for her, beautiful.. :')
But even after death, don’t all elves go to the same place after death? Wouldn’t Elrond see her again eventually? I always believed that he was sad because she would have to face mortality and sorrow but would see her again eventually.
by far one of the best moments..."my friends, you bow to no one" and they all bow the knee to four little hobbits. Such a beautiful, poignant moment. It pulls my heart each time i see it and i well up inside. wonderful and magical wee moment in a wondrous trilogy full of brilliance.
From the Return of the King's post-story appendixes: according to Tolkien, Aragorn reigned for 122 years and died at the age of 210-such ages were normal for Numenorean kings, whose lifespan were several times that of normal men-which meant he was already 88 on his coronation day. He was buried next to Merry and Pippin's own graves (they had died 58 years before in Gondor) and succeeded by his son Eldarion. Arwen was so heartbroken from Aragorn's passing that she herself died shortly afterwards in Lothlorien. When he got the news of Aragorn's passing, Legolas built a ship in Gondor and chose to leave Middle Earth to the Undying Lands, along with Gimli. As all members of the Fellowship had then either died or sailed off to the Undying Lands, this definitively terminated its existence in Middle Earth.
Are the events in the undying lands ever discussed? I enjoy the idea of that land being perfectly secret insofar as even Tolkien never discussing them, but I would like to know what he did say about them if at all.
If I recall correctly, Samwise Gamgee also built a ship at the Grey Havens after his wife of 65 years passed away, and he too sailed to the Undying Lands, joining Bilbo, Frodo, and the others who had preceded him.
As a kid I wanted to look like Liv Tyler when grown up... now I'm the same age she was when they were filming LOTR and damn do I look different, which is no surprise because I'm still a ginger. A small, not so thin ginger... damn, I'm more like Sam!
Throughout the entire filming of the trilogy, there was a guy on set who's sole job was to follow Liv Tyler around and shine a lightbox in her face for all her scenes, to give her that ethereal glow she has in every shot.
Problem with this sentence is... that Frodo perfectly knew that he doesn't deserved to be honored because at the end... he FAILED his mission letting the Ring to finally take controll over him at the very end... and only thanks to Smeagul "intervention" this doesn't end in the complete disaster... That's why at the end he have to leave Shire alongside of Bilbo and the Elves... because he was marked by Sauron's darkness (both in the case of his wound and the Ring itself).
It's 06:06 in the morning here in Sweden, i should be sleeping. Instead i am crying like a child when Aragorn says "My friends, you bow to no one". Well then i think of another quote: "I will not say: Do not weep; for not all tears are an evil" Gandalf knew what he was talking about :)
Fun Fact: The “You bow to no one.” scene was the very last scene to be filmed of the original trilogy. Filming ended that very moment and everyone went home. For the actors, this was the end. This IS THE LAST SCENE.
This movie and the books make me feel so deeply, more than any other fantasy story. Especially knowing all the elves left for the undying lands and eventually all the beauty and glory of this time became lost to history as tolkien put it.

I always cry at the end, where Aragon approaches Frodo and the other Hobits. They bow to him and Aragon says "You bow too no one my friends." The Aragon and the multitude bow to Frodo, Samm, Pippin and Mari. Every touching scene. I like Samm's look of "Just what is going on here." As he looks all around.
Frodo knows he failed, and feels guilt for them bowing to him. Tolkien actually explains that Frodo was meant to be "a flawed Messianic figure". One that was seemingly "perfect" at first, innocent, good nature, etc. But in the end, the Ring corrupted him, and only through chance with his fight with Gollum, did he destroy the ring. Elijah I think pulled it off nicely, you see Merry and Pippin kind of happy about their new found fame, Sam seems also a little indifferent, but overall Frodo just feels unworthy of such praise I feel.
Indeed, but i think he deserves their respect, the ring capable of corrupting even the most powerful and goodwilled Gandalf. Maybe it did corrupt him at the end , but he had suffered and almost lost his life in the process. I think he felt overwhelmed by the love and respect.
I think Tolkien showed us in the form of Frodo , we all are good( atleast most of us) and we all are capable of things we believe we cannot do and yes we all need a Samwise Gamgee 😌🙂
@@ravikant-kk1ht Uh Gandalf would have been corrupted a lot faster then anyone, since he was a Maiar. Having the power of another Maiar would be amazing, he would be very powerful.

If not for Sam he will failed completely, maybe that is Tolkien masseges for Us. No matter how strong will and determined you are, you still needed a good company.
