You tell yourself "it's just a show". After all these seasons of the series it's understandable if you get emotional, the characters are almost like family at this point.
WHEN DOES SAM, DEAN AND CAS NOT TELLING EACH OTHER SECRET DEALS OR SACRIFICES THEY'RE MAKING EVER GO DOWN WELL?????? IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO DEAN IF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENS THE WAY THEY'RE SETTING IT UP?
You summed it up perfectly in saying, "Watching this episode physically drained me" cause- same. Fun fact, this is the first time we see Cas laugh; a full-fledge laugh...at his son's memorium- yep. I support you in saying the writers can parallel the empty 😂. However, trying not to focus on that, the ending scene of Jack wearing Dean's robe (I believe) melted me; they're a family and Cas would and did do anything to protect that because that is his family and even Naomi knows and accepts that now. But, his deal- yep, that I remember hung over each episode I watched after this because either way if nothing else, it is now evident Cas hasn't allowed himself to be happy. I know that isn't always something these incredible characters can feel but...even that doesn't change the fact that they deserve that happiness. Of course. At the beginning of this episode- Jack saying, "Then it'll be an adventure", his wonder for this universe persevered even through the pain he was feeling, he focused on that because of the love he has felt from his family and so, Kelly was right, Cas and the boys have shown him the goodness of what he is meant to show in the world; making it a better place. Even with the monsters...that commentary of "choices defining you", even with Lily in this episode...beautiful. Gosh, I (and many others) would've been so vexed if this was his end. It would've been wrong so, trust me, you are definitely not the only one extremely attached to these characters. One more thing, Dean and Sam's barriers breaking down so seamlessly because of Jack's death; especially with Sam needing to uncoil himself through physical means. We've seen it before but it hurts whenever the composure breaks and the facade of the unbreakable wall cracks (on both their ends). And yet, yep, they are ridiculously talented actors and oh...there are so many more moments coming up to be further pieces of evidence of that and more need for tissue papers...way, way more need. Trust me on that last part.

Naomi (blond angel) is Amanda Tapping Stargate's Sam Carter and Sanctuary's Helena.

For people who love the character driven episodes of SPN this episode is one of the perfect episodes. It has everything, even for my girl crush on Amanda Tapping who looks amazing as always :D and Naomi was even nice to Cas, for once. Jack's death was heartbreaking, and the way he said not knowing what comes next would make it an adventure - that made me cry so hard when I watched this episode for the first time. Even more heartbreaking is Dean and Cas missing his last moments, which, regarding the fact that he came back holds less impact, but in that moment... oof. I love TFW 2.0, I loved the Sam, Dean and Cas moment when they were drinking together, I loved seeing Kelly again and seeing her together with Cas and Jack, Those scenes are so heartwarming and wholesome, even though Cas' deal is so...... aaaaaaaaaaaargh.... and the fact that he chooses not to tell Sam and Dean even more (imagine me tearing out my hair in frustration here, please). But it shows how much Cas loves Jack, but I guess that's what a parent would do to protect their child from a fate that's "worse than hell." I personally thought it was great that they continued Lily's story in this episode, who I thought would never be adressed again like so many other interesting side characters in the show. I loved the concept of Anubis being in charge of weighing the souls and loved seeing this bureaucratic, boring side of Heaven (because sci-fi and fantasy things being handled like some overly boring bureaucracy with a lot of paperwork is something that never fails to crack me up). And yes, Erica Cerra, who played the Empty did a phenomenal job here in this episode. I loved it, it was so intense and terrifying. Everyone always talks about Mishas (undeniably ingenious) performance of the Empty, but I have to admit, I like her version even more somehow. The ending again shows that they're this little unit, this found family and it warms my heart seeing them like this. I get why Dakara thought this episode was physically draining and omg, that pile of used tissues :D back when S14 aired I remember ppl saying how this was the first episode in this season where something of impact actually happens and how the pacing was all weird. But the next episodes are going to be amazing. Some of my all-time-favourites are about to come up, actually. Looking forward to the rest of this season, it's such a ride!
any Dakara treat that features an endless supply of tissues and Dakara in "definitely not ugly" crying mode is worth the 3 CTU's... lol definitely an emotional draining ep for sure.... great stuff as always, D.... keep em coming

The only part of this that I found really moving was Lily Sunder's redemption - helped by the fact that she was played by the great Veronica Cartwright. We all know that Cas, Jack, Sam and Dean are not going to stay dead if they die so you'd have to really strain yourself to dredge up the waterworks for any of them.
