This guy is the "American" that i thought them to be when I was 7. Glad to see they are still out there! Great guy, great story teller, simply love the clip!
Nice car, nice guy. I had a '47 with the same body when I was 15 in 1978. Came home from school one day and it was gone. Dad said a man stopped by and offered $400. I'd paid $100, so dad assumed incorrectly I'd be ecstatic. I was not. It was very luxurious inside with a tray for your feet under and a velvet rope draped across the front seat. Good to see one again.
cargogh wow, I would have flipped the fuck out. Cars for a lot of people aren't about money, they're extensions of their souls. I would have tried to track that man down.
Mr. Chavira looks like Errol Flynn in his later years. Very nice car, mines a 47 Chevy with the country club option. I love it and will hopefully never sell it.
Nice car! My family and myself all work and live right on the border of Phoenix and Glendale. Thank you very much, Sam. For your service to our community.
Wow, remembering the early years of my high school days back in the late 1970's, I use to see a lot of Bombs as well as other classic cars cruising up and down Mission St. in San Francisco, California.
Very inspiring, insightful and American. Car culture will live as a fabric of Americana. It's great to see that others share the same passion as I have since the age of 9 (41 years and counting).
I'm not usually into low riders but I really like this particular car especially the artillery wheels and art deco hub caps. Sam seems like a great guy and has done a great job.
had a 48 chevy stylemaster sport sedan, 216 with the same air cleaner! definitely used it as a Kustom for lady findin, complete with wolf whistle and 51 buick tail lights :) what made it that way for me was the previous owner has painted the outer grille bars body color, to emphasize the pre-war narrow packard grille Kustom look, as well as replace the dash mounted lighter for a chrome plug. the signifigance didnt dawn on me untill i cruised with my lady away from a mcdonalds drive through, she with an ice coffee in her lap. glanced over, saw the reflection so clearly i could read the mccafe scrawled across the cup! from that point on, my stylemaster was just that, a master of pre-war Kustom style translated onto this post war body.
I have the 2 door version. Still needs a lot of work. I let my cousin take it to school for the mechanic shop to learn and teach about REAL cars... didn't come back like I thought I should have. Missing some bits and needing more work than when it went in :( Anyway. I've been trying to sell it as is... has a bunch of spare parts including the sun visor.
A8vscRrabbit These cars are as classy as the people we used to produce. Now we produce mostly crap. Id give just about anything to go back to the days of class and glamour where we made things that beautiful. We were on top of the world. We can be again but it would take some major shifts in thinking from generations who just have no concept of even basic decency, or love of country. We could start by just all truly being American first and drop all the other subgroups that divide us.
This was a nice video even though it got into subjects afield from the car, and therefore did not show some of the things I was hoping would be covered. For example, he talks of the unique sound of the engine, but never lets us hear it. I would have liked that more of the interior would have been shown - instrument panel, upholstery, back seats, trunk interior - all original or not. So I leave here somewhat disappointed. I was looking for more of a car video, and less community booster show.
MORE ABOUT THE CARS! Less about the Foo Foo Fluff! I Subbed for the Cars Not a Fucking History lesson about Fire Fighting and City Council or Any Other Foo Foo Fluff you put in these videos.
As much as those of us with 21:9 monitors would like MT to do that, the fact is with such a small portion of people even owning 21:9 monitors (Not even mentioning the main audience of an automotive channel as opposed to a tech channel ownership ratio) I don't see them doing it. It took years for people to move from 4:3 to 16:9 and I would anticipate it to take further years for the transition to 21:9.
I know there is not a lot of us in 21:9MasterRace but the video was already shot in 21:9. It's gonna look the same on 16:9 then why not upload in 2560x1080? :(
All the thumbs up for this man. It's nice to know there are still people who care about helping others. That's the right direction to follow.
This guy is the "American" that i thought them to be when I was 7. Glad to see they are still out there! Great guy, great story teller, simply love the clip!
Great video. The melding of cultures is what makes this country great.

In retrospect, I wish I had. I knew dad didn't do it out of spite, so I let it go. Very disappointing though.
Maybe not when you're under 18.
I watched this whole video before commenting. That is a very good story and an amazing video
Stephen Smith That's really what you're supposed to do :)

Thank you for your service, Mr. Chavira!

It's amazing that I live in the same city as him😭❤️ gotta find him to thank him for his service
I love this kind of videos, not only putting atention to the car, also putting some atention to the people who build and preservates those cars.
I'll have to keep an eye out for this guy and his car

We don't have to go back. We can move forward. You and me and a lot of other people want to see something better. So let's go for it.
Wonderful. Beautiful car great guy good.. Hope he's not a socialist
Nice car, but I could barely hear the guy over the music. At least it was eye candy even if I couldn't understand half the dialogue.

thats why it is called roll model it is about the people not the car
imagine hitting pedestrian with those headlamp covers..
Nice guy, I'm sure - but the video had very little to do with the car. Probably should take that out of the title.

Everyone says that I don't get it jeez
Please reupload this in 21:9 format. It looks really bad on a 21:9 monitor. Black bars all around...

Oh it's a f*ckin soviet Pobeda. :D Nah sorry it was just a knock off, like every other soviet cars. But you could hardly tell them apart.
"Roll model" - So do these cars roll over or something?
DanKPainter and you are officially the stupidest person alive. Congrats kid.
Low riding is so boring.
