I love how, from the beginning, she was always confident, she knew her worth and knew what she had to bring to the table. Even with the criticism she got, she kept her head up and trusted the process, keeping faith in herself and her abilities. She never got cocky, she always stayed grateful, humble and patient. I believe that is what got her to where she is in her career today.

George was instructed to join the Top 3 winning group. It is ironic how he went straight to the group that were told they were the bottom 3. And he approached joining that group with intrepidation (obvious he felt inferior to the 3 divas). So in George’s mind, being told to go and join the top 3, he saw JHud, Fantasia and LaToya as the winners. Proof, even from another contestant, he thought they should have been in the Top 3
This shit was rigged...I don't care what anyone says. I believed it then and I believe it now. There is no way that Fantasia, Jennifer and Latoya were the bottom 3 that week. They tried to change the dynamic and who they wanted to stay. Jennifer got the last laugh though and was bigger than the show anyway.
Brandon C -That is absolutely right. Once you get to a certain point demographics and voting blocks come into play. This has happened through out the history of the show. You can almost predict who will leave under these sort of circumstances. Similar vocalists do tend to eliminate each other. You also need to add the fact that Chicago had power failures that night and that is a major area from which the diva's voting block comes from. Add all those things together and this is what can happen.
The top 3 singers in the competition were bottom 3. The red hair guy and the black guy were both in shock to find themselves in the top 4. Fantasia laughed and the 2 other black ladies were stunned.... what???? We the divas with gorgeous voices are behind those utterly ordinary singers? Unbelievable. Yoday is July 31th 2022 and i was in highschool when it aired here in my country, she is the reason why i start to love soul music! I remember voting the day before , there was a power outage due to thunderstorms. My votes didn’t get to go through. Chicago was her main source of votes but things happen and she Definitely made the best of it !

The whole world went crazy when Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were all in the bottom three together. All three ended up singing together in the last episode of American Idol ever before it got revived.
How they announced which group was the bottom group was class less. You just don't do that. I mean everyone in that group thought they were justifiably safe. Then to pull the rug from out of them like that was just cold. It seems that JH had a premonition that she would be the one going home.
If i'm not mistaking, on this particular night there was a TERRIBLE thunderstorm in Chicago. The internet/phone lines were down so many that would have voted for Jennifer could not get through the voting system.
Add the fact that people tend to vote in blocks. They vote for they type of singer rather for who does the best vocal. JH, Fantasia and Latoya would be competing for the same block of voters and thus would cancel each other out. It wouldn't have mattered because JH who was my favorite had no chance to win that season. Neither did Latoya. They were fast tracking Fantasia to win early on. Simon stated after their first competitive number that She was the best singer in the show. Far to premature to make such a statement unless it is to influence the final outcome. As I said I liked JH voice the best. Fantasia sounded to munchkiny for my taste. Latoya was the best blend between the two.
My favorite thing was Fantasia laughing because she knew the results were crazy stupid. Nothing else to do but laugh when three of the best singers in Idol history end up in the bottom while two tone deaf guys get sent through...this results show still baffles me after all these years!🙄

Judges comments. “You are the best singer in this competition” etc. “This competition is not a popularity contest” (young voters were turning it into exactly that).
George was instructed to join the Top 3 winning group. It is ironic how he went straight to the group that were told they were the bottom 3. And he approached joining that group with intrepidation (obvious he felt inferior to the 3 divas). So in George’s mind, being told to go and join the top 3, he saw JHud, Fantasia and LaToya as the winners. Proof, even from another contestant, he thought they should have been in the Top 3

This shit was rigged...I don't care what anyone says. I believed it then and I believe it now. There is no way that Fantasia, Jennifer and Latoya were the bottom 3 that week. They tried to change the dynamic and who they wanted to stay. Jennifer got the last laugh though and was bigger than the show anyway.

Brandon C -That is absolutely right. Once you get to a certain point demographics and voting blocks come into play. This has happened through out the history of the show. You can almost predict who will leave under these sort of circumstances. Similar vocalists do tend to eliminate each other. You also need to add the fact that Chicago had power failures that night and that is a major area from which the diva's voting block comes from. Add all those things together and this is what can happen.
And she became the most successful of them all. Amazing.
If she hadn't been eliminated, she wouldn't have been what she is today

I think I remember Ryan Seacrest said that they didn’t have enough votes and that’s why he screamed at the end “YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE TALENT” and I think producers were just as shocked that them 3 were in the bottom

She knew it was just a matter of time. Simon ( and probably everyone else ) had Fantasia geared for victory early on in the show. They spent the entire season promoting her at the expense of the others.
Right because she wasn't worried about it and Jennifer didn't show no emotion anyway .
It was good for her in the long run, she could tear up the whack contract with Simon's company and move on

Yoday is July 31th 2022 and i was in highschool when it aired here in my country, she is the reason why i start to love soul music! I am still emotional everytime i am awatching it but She prove AMERICA IS WRONG! She's a shining star even up to this day . Fantasia deserved it too. ONLY OF 2 of them!

This was the worst bottom, when all three of them to me should have been safe. Praise God, Ms. Jennifer Hudson went on to become an EGOT. Ms. Fantasia Barrino won Idol on that season, and Latoya London released her album "Love and Life"and performed in several stage plays.These three beautiful ladies has done great things. I remember voting the day before , there was a power outage due to thunderstorms. My votes didn’t get to go through. Chicago was her main source of votes but things happen and she Definitely made the best of it !

The whole world went crazy when Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia were all in the bottom three together.
All three ended up singing together in the last episode of American Idol ever before it got revived.
How they announced which group was the bottom group was class less. You just don't do that. I mean everyone in that group thought they were justifiably safe. Then to pull the rug from out of them like that was just cold. It seems that JH had a premonition that she would be the one going home.

Add the fact that people tend to vote in blocks. They vote for they type of singer rather for who does the best vocal. JH, Fantasia and Latoya would be competing for the same block of voters and thus would cancel each other out. It wouldn't have mattered because JH who was my favorite had no chance to win that season. Neither did Latoya. They were fast tracking Fantasia to win early on. Simon stated after their first competitive number that She was the best singer in the show. Far to premature to make such a statement unless it is to influence the final outcome. As I said I liked JH voice the best. Fantasia sounded to munchkiny for my taste. Latoya was the best blend between the two.

I wasn’t an Idol watcher so I never saw this. To see the bottom of 3 says a lot about the show and the audience. Nearly 20 years later and the only ones on the stage that I have only heard of Fantasia and Jennifer. Jennifer showed she was a class act then and she still is….and now she has one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. She is one of only 17 people in history to win all four awards.

Fast forward to 2020, where the world knows how it really is to be black in America, I strongly believe racism had A LOT to do with this.Oh yeah.....also in 2020, Jennifer Hudson made the most successful career in music , despite being unfairly cut off from the competiton.
