Great video. One of the best ones I've seen so far. While some others cover the specific technical stuff very well, this one just felt quite on the spot regarding providing a feel for the use possibilities this unit has to offer. The Cranborne Audio 500R8 in particular, seems to be the best solution for entering the home studio building world and/or recording studio business. I really liked it.
Once you fill up the R8 if you dont have pre amps or dont wanna plug in to a module you have there, do you then loose the inputs on the back or can the modules be bypassed without taking them out? thank you! I run a synth centric setup. My idea is to use the R8 as center piece for my studio with an RME 400 + a behringer expander to use up all the IO of the r8. but this is really making me question my options.
Just ordered mine, will ADAT to Behringer ADA8200 8-channel MIDAS-designed Mic Pre’s & also to MOTU UltraLite-mk5 18x22 USB Audio Interface for enuf I/O. Using patchbay for pedals & small synths. USB 10-bay, Strymon pedal management system & ART PS4x4PROUSB Dual Metered Power Distribution System to power the rest. Has been keeping me up at night considering routing but I think I got it now 😊
Maybe this is a stupid question but I have an Apollo x4 and am thinking of getting analog gear. I was looking at the 500adat because I want to continue to use my Apollo as an interface to use some of the plugins but I like that the 500r8 can be expanded to potentially have 16 slots with the 500adat. My question is can I use the 500r8 without the interface?
Hello! I would like to ask, don't you have to buy double the modules if you are mixing/mastering stereo tracks? Is one module enough for a stereo signal?
ONLY if it's a stereo module. At that point it would take up 2 spots. If you have 2 of the same modules, and they are mono you can run them together as a stereo pair
Can I use it as an insert on my SSL SIX as a master buss channel.. Is there a direct input on the 500r8? Maybe I can use the the AUX input to go in from the SSL SIX then record only stereo out to daw?
Would you mind explaining how you're bussing all the stems just to the SSL after the stems have been processed? Are you doing this with the summing section of the craneborne or with ableton? It seems like its through ableton so you have each stem going out to different hardware piece and then an additional bus to the SSL and back onto a stereo channel? But wouldn't that mean the SSL would be getting the stems pre 500 series processing?
Getting ready to pull the trigger on one! Hey one quick question, so the only xlr cabing needed would be for the monitor outs, correct? There is no need to run cables between the modules in other words.

No need for the cables. Is correct. It's an awesome machine
Thanks! Got mine a few weeks ago. I'm having a few small issues but for the most part I'm very happy with the purchase. @@AH20XX
