Love the fact that this layout is at a decent height for working on . Excellent to see the work going on and the techniques used in the grass blending. Top class layout and one which I’ve always enjoyed watching over the past few years. Andy
Nice one Mikey, Remember when this layout seemed so small, now there are parts of this layout I don’t even recognise. Look forward to your next blog Mike and more progress, great bit of flocking to. Nice to see Richard aka NewJunction
Good work on the station area greenery, now looking very nice. One thing that really grates on me is the size of the boulders used to represent the platform surface finish and other public areas. Desperately oversized, like passengers are standing amonst grey tennis balls. What's the plan for upgrading that please?
Hi, great to see Topley Dale getting a spruce up. Wow some great locos in the new additions, Ive had a message to say the Dapol oo class 29 is on its way! can't wait. No word on the Bachmann blue 24/1 yet though? Smashing video, I'm not jealous of you playing with all these great layouts and models, much. Cheers Paul :-)
Looking super Mike & Richard. Please look into an article on how to program CVs etc to make smoke 💨 like the ‘Spam Can’ & J94. ps. Crew! Crew! You need crew!! 😆
Great layout, great scenery, great camera work. I'm impressed by the way you designed it to give yourselves access and have work-station areas that can easily be out of camera shot. It was only at about 8 minutes in that I realised your layout is set back in time to...the 1940's?
@@hornbymag Cool. Even though I never had a big layout, I used to spend hours pouring over the old Triang-Hornby catalogues in the 1960's and early 70's.
Hi, Complement you on the layout, looks fantastic,Is Hornby replaceing the Euro Star motor to 5 pole as I replaced two of my 3 pole motor's which burntout , any ideas Thank you, All the Best Brian 🤗
Hi there, just a quick question about the class 27, is the tablet catcher a detail part you have to fit? All I can see is an empty space where the tablet apparatus fits.
It is nice to see how the layout changes I did not see you put any PVA on the bottom of the trees before planting them, is that because you want to be able to move them around? Hornby Railroad Range is a good starting point for anyone interested in starting this hobby. The models all come from the same mould. It is just the lack of extra detailing that is different on the Railroad v Railway. ranges. So why not bring out Detailing packs to upgrade them, as and when customers fill that they are ready to move on to more detailed models. (Just an idea.) Martin. (Dhaka, Bangladesh.)
It’s a capacitor and charge circuit connected to the decoder to provide a consistent source of power to the sound decoder/locomotive should it be interrupted.
There are different radius curves at each end of the layout. Those through the station are roughly 6ft radius while the those approaching the tunnels range from 6ft to 4ft radius. We are waiting to hear more from Hornby on the HM6000 DC control system - as soon as we have news/product we will be putting it to the test for the magazine.
Enjoyed the video but one thing, at 08.33 the junction signal at the end of the platform needs moving closer to the junction points it applies to and the previous left hand junction signal for the route mainline or to the loop/ slowroad.
The signals aren't final, but you are quite right. The GWR bracket signal isn't a permanent fixture - it will be replaced by a BR/Midland version once available from Dapol as well the static signal on the other side of the line. Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks Andy
The layout gets better every time I see it 😮
Thanks Ollie

Platforms are on the list for the future. We will get to them.

Thanks for the feedback. The layout is nominally set in the 1960s, but it sees traction from either side of that decade.

Lovely layout!
Thanks!
Hornby Magazine who won the giveaway?

A separate video is coming up. 👍🏻
Great video thanks. You mentioned you have a garden O gauge, are you going to show it sometime? Thanks, Mel
Yes when it's a little warmer or you can look back at our older uploads
Hi there, just a quick question about the class 27, is the tablet catcher a detail part you have to fit? All I can see is an empty space where the tablet apparatus fits.
The Class 27 just has the tablet catcher recess - the apparatus isn't included in the accessory pack.
Garret is great, Someone needs to bring out a RTR LNER U1.
What kind of fencing are you using on the platforms themselves?
Another great video - better than your main competitors dare I say :)
😮😘
Yes Mike, I like these videos. Cheers Rog
Thanks Rog
Brilliant video chaps. Any chance of seeing your fantastic N gauge layout and models in a future programme?
Yes coming very soon!
Are those locos smoke Machines built-in

Hi Martin - the trees have been fixed in place with hot glue from a glue gun rather than PVA.
Hi the loco with smoke is it an after market product please?
Steve
Getting my laptop audio issue sorted has restored balance after a trying time today
...& nothing but nothing calms like watching model railways, going to enjoy this now...
Great to hear
A quick question if I may, I've heard 'stay alive' mentioned a couple of times. What is that??

What radius curves do you use on the main lines. Also, any more news on the HM 6000 DC control.
