      @BillOReilly
      I first started to watch Carson regularly when he abandoned the Rockefeller Center NBC studio for the NBC Burbank, Calif. studio permanently in 1972. His 1970s opening monologues were like a must-see appointment viewing to get the reaction from Carson and his writers to anything taking place in the international or national headlines or in Washington during any minor or major scandal right up through at least the middle 1980s era. I've seen a few of the old 1960s (youtube) clips of Carson from his New York NBC period and he didn't have quite the same hip, laid back vibe that the Tonight Show would eventually get after moving out west to the NBC Burbank studio.

      @martinplatts6922 Час назад

      Janet, there is an outstanding line between conservatism and autocracy. Like Bill O'Reilly, I have lived amongst both. When a political leader, either civilian or military, uses military force to control a country and has strong popular support. Strongmen often claim to be the only ones who can solve a country's problems and dislike democracy and liberalism. The latter never works because it goes against human nature, though Trump will certainly achieve one aim should he win a second term, make the Democrats more organized, and turn left. The Democratic Party, for the first time in 100 years, has such a depth of talent perhaps losing this time around allows the party to clean house. In the next ten years, watch for the rise of the California Governor and AOC. The latter's maturity in the House of Representatives in her speeches and her delivery to her constituents is outstanding. Maturity is required there, and there is plenty of talent to enable her rise that would make Harris a pure amateur in comparison.
      One point to remember is that Republicans can never win on policy; they are too unpopular. The requirement to survive as a power, Fox News, the antiquated Electoral College, which Nixon tried to remove but failed in 1969, and the twisted Supreme Court.
      The chaos the Republicans will certainly bring to the table in power will neither benefit the country nor your good self. That is an economic certainty.

      Fox News rightly holds that mantle because that is why it was created in the first place.
      FYI:
      Joe Franklin, an American radio and television personality, hosted the first television talk show. The show began in 1951 on WJZ-TV (later WABC-TV) and moved to WOR-TV (later WWOR-TV) from 1962 to 1993. NBC's The Tonight Show is the world's longest-running talk show; having debuted in 1954, it continues to this day.

      The Hollywood Elite are Ideologues. They are wealthy and they don't live in the real world. They are pushing for their idea of a perfect world. Instead of earning what you get in this world through hard work and merit, they believe in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. They believe in big government running everything about our lives. Of course the government can't run their lives because they make enough money to not be affected. Trump grew up working his summer vacations for his Dad in New York. New York has people from all over the world and they are from every economical-social group there is. His Dad was a Real Estate Developer and Trump learned about building from the ground up. He attended meetings with his Dad and he learned about deal making, etc;. Trump believes in earning what you get through merit. He believes the individual should make their own decisions and not the government. He believes government should be smaller, not bigger. He believes that big government leads to communism. Trump also speaks off the cuff in a down to earth manner. He's a business man, not a politician so he's not in the club with all the politicians, movie and tv stars. There are a lot more reasons , for instance: they think climate change is a crisis they can avert. Trump thinks climate change is natural for the planet. He believes that we can do things to have a cleaner environment but he doesn't think that what we do will stop climate change. We were energy independent for the first time in 75 years when Trump was President and he wants that to happen again. Anyway this is a start.

      For months on end, even after Bush had already left office for two terms behind, Letterman kept showing the same stupid old clips of Bush fumbling and bumbling his way around his yearly responsibilities as president and replaying some blunder or forgettable passage from a public speech Bush made while in office, right after having shown a few of the historically iconic lines from speeches made by the earlier presidents. Then he made a vicious joke about the younger sister of Bristol Palin, after she (Willow) and her mother Sarah Palin had both gone together to a game at Yankee Stadium, ridiculing the questionably early motherhood of Bristol Palin by suggesting the sister was "knocked up" by Yankees player Alex Rodriguez.

    Late night television was an entirely different world back in the 1960-70's (and into the early 80's) when compared to daytime television. It was a rare treat when I was able to stay up passed the 11:00 p.m. news to watch Johnny Carson (who in my opinion did one of the best impressions of Ronald Reagan). Unfortunately, today the world doesn't sleep soundly like it used to. Television stations would sign-off to the Star Spangled Banner, a deaf tone, and a color bar or a test pattern called "The Indian." Today's late night continues into the morning with non-stop news, and non-bias innuendos to indirectly target viewers and their opinions. Classic late night comedians took stabs at both parties and for the most part, no one party were labeled "weird, dictators, trolls...etc." It is was a very different time back then and the late night hosts were actually funnier and respected. It would be nice to return to a late night monologue done by Johnny Carson followed by a station sign-off so we can clear our heads and get some well-deserved rest.

    Another great talk. May I mention the idol of all those comedians, who worked day and night including, sporadically, late night : the surrealistically brilliant Ernie Kovacs. Don’t think he was ever biased one way or another, just off the wall.

      Bill, undoubtedly, is television's most excellent spinner of the truth. Had Bill been on any other network besides Fox News, his name would have been folklore today. That is a tragedy. It's essential to understand Bill O'Reilly's theories learned from a young age the rhetoric of Eastern Bloc communist country jargon and transferred it to a more palatable, hypocritical dominated ploy. Often acquainted as satire, this is where Mr. O'Reilly missed his calling.

      Joe Franklin, an American radio and television personality, hosted the first television talk show. The show began in 1951 on WJZ-TV (later WABC-TV) and moved to WOR-TV (later WWOR-TV) from 1962 to 1993. NBC's The Tonight Show is the world's longest-running talk show; having debuted in 1954, it continues.

    In the world of late-night television, a curious transformation has taken root. It seems that the pursuit of applause has overshadowed the essential goal of delivering genuine laughter. The networks, in their relentless quest for ratings, appear unconcerned with the fact that their programming may very well alienate a substantial portion of the viewing audience. It raises an intriguing question: has the desire for approval supplanted the timeless art of comedy? As we reflect on this shift, one can't help but wonder if the true essence of late-night entertainment is being lost in the clamor for applause.

      Applause has always been the mainstay of any chat show. I have attended several of them where big boards used to be used in transition. It was Madonna, the first superstar who objected to false ap[plause and refused to come on stage unless the boards were removed.
