As a Filipino, I used to watch Journey to the West movies when I was young and knew about the Monkey King too. The game is just perfect and made me understand and find more about the story. It exceeded my expectations. It may have not won GOTY but for me it was the game of the decade. Thank you and kudos to Game Science.
I was actually in Hangzhou and didn't realise this was going on and we couldn't get tickets, it was the final few days. I was so excited to see a game I knew whilst on holiday being celebrated by so many! Glad you could share virtually what was in the exhibit - perhaps one day it will resurface elsewhere.
Hey Jason thanks for sharing! I was hoping a Wukong admirer would help others living outside China experience this amazing exhibit and you came through! I shared a link to this video and your photographs in a new discussion in the Black Myth: Wukong forum on Steam so others might enjoy your efforts. Cheers.
years of hard work and now becomes a monumental achievement! I cannot wait for other black myth games come to life. espacially for Xiao Qian. Oh it would be great if there is alternative skins that allows players to choose previous actors face for the characters
Such a brilliant idea! The new game is confirmed to be Zhong Kui, but Xiao Qian would have been great too. There’s a Xiao Qian story in the new animation movie Curious Tales of a Temple, check it out she’s very pretty and the story adaptation is also great.
@jasonlang_en just checked that out. one thing I can say about that animated feature film is. It look too much like Disney film. I dont know if that is the trend in animate films in china but that is what I am seeing in the Green Snake and Ne Zha film too.
True true. My 2 cents is that Chinese creators or the entertainment industry at large are still quite 'new' and learning from proven methods from Disney/Hollywood. It may take some time for them to find their own way of storytelling. A good example would be The Wandering Earth 2, it is significantly better and more unique in its own way, comparing to 1 which is much alike to a typical Hollywood movie.
@jasonlang_enhmm... same stagnation problem. Western games are getting boring because they keep following the live service sand box game model to make money. Which has made them fat and lazy and entitled.
High five! The expo concluded a few days back on 25 July unfortunately :( But do follow Game Science official accounts for more on-site events in the future ;-)
Just went a few weeks ago myself!! As a avid fan that has over 80 hours of gameplay on BMW, this actually gave me everything I wanted and I left super satisfied and want to play the game even more now hahaha
Here is the list: Lianyungang, Jiangsu: 30 & 31 Aug Yulin, Shaanxi: 6 Sept Chengdu, Sichuan: 27 Sept Ordos City, Inner Mongolia: 18 Oct Xi'an, Shaanxi: 25 Oct Dongguan, Guangdong: 8 Nov Shenzhen, Guangdong: 10 Nov Qingdao, Shandong: 15 Nov Wuhan, Hubei: 22 & 23 Nov Suzhou, Jiangsu: 29 Nov
these game devs really dedicated to old bhuddhist arts of the dharma , have anyone of them clearly stated to be actually said to be a dedicated bhuddhist in a live panel im curious
BM:W is inspired by Journey to the West, a classic which fused an actual history with mythology from both Chinese Buddhism and Daoism. So it's natural to see a great deal of both Buddhist and Daoist elements in their art design.
Yep it's still on! You can book a ticket via CAA Art Museum offical account on WeChat or Alipay. New time slots release daily at midnight 00:00 Beijing Time (UTC+8). 60 RMB full price for adult, or 30 RMB concession price. Paid visitor can collect a concept art book for free at a corner outside of the museum. Good luck with the ticket and have fun in Hangzhou
You got me lolz ;P The truth is that 2 mins was everything I could gather when making this video. I did find some more details later, but this video was already published by then. The expo was set by galleries, and each gallery represents a chapter in BM:W. Hope Game Science could give us a new teaser at Gamescom on the 20th Aug.
Game Science created something unique, with multiple layers of creativity and inspiration, a true digital work of art... However, it lost the GOTY to AstroBot, Sony's Mario rip-off! The gaming industry is sick! In the worst sense :(
the amount of effort the whole team put into these things is crazy, the most beautiful things ive ever seen
Man the wukong statue look exactly like in-game , and much details holy moly
The wall with all the staffs is the coolest thing ever! I would love to own a couple of replicas!

No probs at all! Glad you enjoyed it
멋지네요. 게임을 너무 재밌게 했어요. 가 보고 싶네요.
Those epic paintings of the great mountains of China, so beautiful
I was in China and saw the museum by accident and I wanted to go .. but my time was short and.. I think I couldn't get a ticket in.
不错,官方应该拍一部3小时的纪录片,把每件作品的来龙去脉都解释一下。
This is so cool man, for someone who loves Journey to the West and the game itself, I would love to visit this museum one day!
High five!
The expo concluded a few days back on 25 July unfortunately :(
But do follow Game Science official accounts for more on-site events in the future ;-)
So beautiful. The art design of the game it's absolutely stunning, see it in person has to be cool. Thank you to share it
My pleasure

No worries mate, cheers!
Absolutely beautiful works of art, i would love to have some of those replicas at home.
You and me both!
Just went a few weeks ago myself!! As a avid fan that has over 80 hours of gameplay on BMW, this actually gave me everything I wanted and I left super satisfied and want to play the game even more now hahaha
Totally worth it indeed! And the free art book is a collectable which will not be for sell after the expo.
This deserve more views!
aww you're too kind
The fact that I will never be able to see these pieces of art live will sadden me to the rest of my days.
/hug

I wish I could see the process of how everything was made.
! that would be awesome, hope they release a documentary
@jasonlang_en They did make a 2 minute video on the Wukong statue, but that's like getting the gist of it.
Great content I went to the exhibition as well, gave me tears when I saw everything so alive. Btw, are you Chinese?
宫廷玉液酒 ;-)

@jasonlang_en so do you think these great game designer truly follow the way of the bhuddha and dao?
Hey there man peak vid was wondering what the first song was called it sounded so good 3:58
Yo, it is called from Black Myth: Wukong Soundtrack. You can find the whole album on Apple Music or RUclips Music. Cheers
@jasonlang_enthanks really appreciate the fast reply
I m going Hangzhou this weekend, 14-15 June 25.. is the Exhibition still on?
Yep it's still on!

Would it have been too difficult to continue commentary on the pictures and what they represent beyond the 2:11 mark?
You got me lolz ;P

Thanks a lot man! The "bmw who's who" slide needs a password. What is it?
Hey mate, you don't need password to in G-drive/MS_PowerPoint.
I locked editing on purpose so everyone can get to the unaltered slides. Cheers.
Where is Erlang and Yellowbrow? :)
Hmm very good question indeed. Just as you ask, I wonder why ;)
Where the hell is the DLC?? Wtf !!!
Lol ikr! Stay tuned for 20 Aug, Game Science always release teasers/announcements on that date.
@jasonlang_en I hope so bro. I played the game 4 times to level up on everything. Just to get ready for DLC.
Game Science created something unique, with multiple layers of creativity and inspiration, a true digital work of art... However, it lost the GOTY to AstroBot, Sony's Mario rip-off!
The gaming industry is sick! In the worst sense :(
I feel you.
But this alright, us players have our own voice and vote w $money ;-P
This make me hate that asstro game even more
as...who? ;-)
@jasonlang_enastro bot the game of the year, I think that’s what he meant
