    As someone from Anhui, Huangshan holds a special place in my heart. It was a crucial point on the ancient trade routes for tea, salt, and textiles. The Hui merchants braved treacherous mountains to forge new trading paths and make their living. 古徽商带来贸易,贸易沉淀资产,资产滋养文化。the radiance of hui culture's past glory still softly shines through the last lady. Such a delight seeing this on RUclips.

    Great video Siming!
    Yes, the best way to see and to get to know a country is to take the unbeaten path and spend some time exploring and getting to know the locals, their traditions, culture, and even a little of their local dialect. Being a Tourist, one will never get to experience and to get to know much about any country. But, of course, to really get to experience & to know the whole of China intimately, it will take several lifetimes.
    Looking forward to your next adventure!
    Cheers & all the best!

    This reminds me of my own road trips with friends more than 20 years ago in the US , just driving the highways and avoiding the freeways. you always find interesting places this way. I guess if you have quite some time available thats the way you should do a vacation. At least thats my personal view - travel from A to B and the journey in-between is the real deal.

    If you had any depth in you or a sense of meaning for your rich culture (instead of this surface westerner face mask you have inflicted upon your psyche) you would have paid very close attention and really stopped everything to focus all your energy on what the last lady was saying to you and the wisdom she just tried to telegraph to you. It’s not by chance or happenstance that you came across these beautiful artisans, you should even probably try to come back, live there for a time, be an apprentice to absorb and learn her craft to preserve it for the generations to come. All these gifts from your ancient history will get lost because your generation is so plastic with a surface understanding of life disguised in big words and worthless paper accolades from western universities. My heart breaks for the future generations of the Middle Kingdom.
