He was excellent; grew up in Pittsburgh listening to him. I've since lived in Philly, Seattle, and Dallas area; I can say that he was a far better play-by-play than many of his peers. Big shoes to fill now.

All of a sudden I'm glad I had to work during so many Steelers games this season, it gave me so much more of Billy to listen to, in what I didn't even know, was his final season. Him, Cope and Tunch were my childhood.

Dang , am I going to miss you and your voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers ! I've been with you since you began and can't believe your age.. because when you get excited and make a Rudolph to Pickens reception call , I hear your voice as it's always been... energetic, motivating and inspirational and full of optimism.. even during this rough year. Everytime i'm watching a historic Steelers moment , there's the voice.. the voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers! Sometimes God only makes one person who you can't imagine would be better for his calling.. when I think Pittsburgh Steelers I think Bill Hillgrove! I truly hope you can find enjoyment in your retirement. Legends can't be replaced and you are a legend.

As a kid who left Pittsburgh and moved to eastern North Carolina, hearing Bill's voice on KDKA 1020am radio was amazing. To me it will be hard to listen to Steelers football and not have you a part of it. Thank you for the years of great calls.

Bill was the last link of tangible legacy to the fans of past and present Steelers games.the last link to yoi double yoi and triple yoi the goat Myron cope the greatest radio play by play color analyst the author of " The Official icial Terrible Towel".my what an absolute Honor and a privilege it would be to have a career getting paid to go watch your favorite local professional sports teams and tell their fans what you were witnessing . How lucky can Bill Hillgrove be? HE is luckier than me, that's for sure!!!

I used to mute the TV telecast and dub the Radio over it as I watched. Hargrove IS the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will def take some getting used to the new guy, whoever he is.

Everybody makes a big deal from 1969 to 2023 the Steelers have had only 3 coaches. From 1965 to 2023 the Steelers had only 2 voices do radio play by play. The person picked to replace Jack Fleming and Bill Hillgrove better have big shoes. Fleming, Cope and now Hillgrove need to have their own Ring of Honor.
