This was my first baseball game I have seen live. In fact, it was actually my first time watching a game. I was googling the rules as the game went on as I had no idea what they are. I had such a good time and hope to see another live game. We sat on the Mets side so I guess they are now my team 😂
Welcome from NY brother or sister! They're not the easiest team to be a fan of but we're a loyal bunch! The closest Premier League analogy I can think of is if Liverpool are the equivalent of the NY Yankees, the Mets are Everton.
Believe or not, I thought the Mets are like the Nets . Been at the stadium but working so didn’t see much. I’m gonna learn the rules (although only watching this vid already made me get most of it and what matters) and see how I’ll find it after. I’m surprised this many people went to watch. Maybe pleasantly I should add
As a British fan, it is great when they bring MLB over. That last play was such a thing of beauty, I never knew that it was something never done in AL/NL history. It was a pleasure to be there and watch it happen live. Now, can we take over those Paris games in 2025.....?
I've played organized baseball for over 35 years. I've seen a lot of things but I've never seen a play like that. And the Brit announcer did a supreme job.
Great game. Could have gone either way. I used to work just down the road from the West Ham Stadium at the Olympic Velodrome in Stratford. Good to see top class baseball being played in England. Big thanks to both teams for making the trip across the Pond.
Talking about this game again today. One of my highlights of the summer was getting that David Dahl home run ball in the 7th inning. Bounced through the Mets bullpen to me. You can see me at the rail of the stand @8.27. That ball is on my work desk in a protective cube! (...and I'm a Mets fan!)
What a thrill to watch the Mets win live in my home town. It was tough sat with all the Phillies fans for two days but that victory was so so sweet. Mets win in London!!!!! Wooooooooo!!!
Loved attending! I think a lot of people who were there will think that baseball could really suit a lot of British sports crowds - perhaps we’d suit a Japanese atmosphere more than American, but the sport really fits. I really hope MLB comes back again ❤
Ya, Brits need their chants. Its OK, I think us Americans are the only country that doesn't chant practically non-stop the entire game. (Well, idk if Latin countries do, but they bring musical instruments, so we're way beyond chanting at that point)
I was there yesterday (and Saturday) as an MLB Diamonds volunteer, helping look after the spectators, stationed in the upper deck, behind the right-field foul pole. Amazing atmosphere, people from all over Europe, the US, and the world!! From talking to fans, I learned that baseball is played in way more places than I knew ... baseball going global! And what a finish ... bases loaded, then a 2-3 double play -- which I had to explain to a few people (one I worked out myself what had happened!). Everybody in my section was in great spirits, and both days were tremendous fun!! ⚾⚾⚾
I was there ❤ my one and only time that I have been to a live game of baseball, I’ve been a mets fan since the 80s I’m so pleased that mlb has done this truly grateful to them as it was a fantastic day out. Think this maybe my only time I get to see the met play live apart from watching online so it was worth every penny.
The way Castellanos' bat exploded there for the last out looks like he probably fractured it on the earlier foul ball and didnt switch it out. Guys gotta be more aware of that stuff. I know bases loaded, bottom of the 9th with 2 strikes youre locked into the at bat. But taking a time out and changing bats couldve changed the entire outcome of the game. Anyways great series from bith teams, i hope the UK fans enjoyed it. Now lets go see if LA can be the first team to sweep the Yankees this season
Carnival atmosphere at the London Stadium yesterday. LGM! Both sets of fans out in force although the Phillies fans were in the majority, probably 60-40.
I can't believe M Kay calling a Mets game wow different sound maybe SNY should send Gary Cohen over to YES to a Yankees game when the Yankees come to London and play a game.
As the Mets fan I'm just happy that we didn't get swept have we made up for the first game in series by winning a crazy memorable game and got out of London with a tie ironically like their soccer matches😅😂
Met fan here. I love Harper for saying this trip should be a round Robin. Good ambassador for the game. Yankees are fools for not having pursued him. Imagine him in the lineup with judge and soto? In the Bronx??? So dumb. Should’ve gotten freeman too. They’d have won another one already.
I was there with my daugther, after game 1 she was a little bit sad,but after game 2 she say YES YeS YES never in my live i chance the Team METS only Lets go Mets😁😁😁
I enjoyed both games, it was a great comeback from the unfancied side in the second game and that’s always got to be good. Could NFL be played in the UK? It already is and two stadiums can set themselves up for that now. MLB? We’d need a new stadium for that as West Ham average 62,000 from August-May and they won’t be giving that up anytime soon.
I was wondering if there were any English commentators on this game, they always show so much more passion than the American ones in literally any sport like soccer/football
Walker was on fire for once, with 0 ERs in 5 or so innings, then the pitching grew atrocious with Soto and Alvarado. And Thompson replacing Dahl after one at bat which resulted in a homer? Best in the league or not that L was horrible, props to the mets.
How is that type of turn still allowed? How was it ever legal in the first place. They have concrete under turf. At least now in MLB all turf ballparks have great, thick turf which is still way worse than grass. That's the pale green stuff you see in recordings from the 70s til unfortunately the 2000s.
When the Boom Overture supersonic aircraft begins operations with United Airlines in 2028, we are going have an NFL team in London and many more MLB games there.
The NFL team I can certainly see happening. I would be very surprised if we did get a MLB team over here because you'd need a whole new ballpark built as football and athletics normally have London Stadium most of the time. Plus, aside of a firm minority, unless they keep those ticket/concession prices down then it will be like the A's every game almost. What we had to pay to be there and eat was extortionate.

What a nice touch adding in the British broadcast for that double play to end the game. Definitely more excitement than the American broadcast.
I agree. I'm trying to find the highlights with the British broadcasters calling the game.
