Thank you for another interesting video. You say you always use a filter. I also do this, so that was good to hear. I was a little bit in doubt about this because from several sources I heard to NOT use a filter for protection of the front lens because it would drastically decrease the image quality. I look forward to your next video video.
A cheap filter can drastically reduce image quality, this is true. I mostly use B+W filters, and they are not cheap and I see no degradation in image quality at all. For digital I prefer the clear nano coated Master ones and for film lenses I use the UV MRC ones. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I still haven't re-purchased the 10-24mm lens. The 16-55mm is my default lens and like you said, it's a bit big and bulky but it just works great. I have the tiny Laowa 9mm in the bag if I need to go wider than 16mm, which is actually a great little lens. Seems like I'm doing about 99% of everything with just the 16-55 and 70-300. What an amazing kit!
The 10-24mm really works for me because it is mostly my main video lens. I don't shoot extreme wide angle too often, but I use it for video 95% of the time. So it's a well used and important lens for me.
Last time I watched your videos you were on Sony. I need to get caught up. I have been looking at Fuji myself oddly enough. I got a Canon RP last year and it's fine but I've been less than gruntled with the image quality (granted I came from the Pentax K-1 II with Limited lenses so I'm not really being fair). And while the AF is a decade ahead of Pentax - it's still not blowing me away. Been considering doubling down on Canon and buying a better body/lenses, or starting over with a different system. Eyeing Fuji and the new Nikon Zf that is coming out soon.
I was testing the Sony's for about 2 months a few years back. I've had Fuji's since 2012. Size, weight, cost and image quality, Fuji can't be beat. Coupled with DXO's Pure Raw 3 or Photolab 6 and the IQ is equal to a Z7II or Canon R5. Ian Worth's got a great comparison video from a few months back and it was 50/50 against a $10,000 R5 kit, worth a look.
@@EdwardMartinsPhotography Agreed, it really is just a focal length thing for me at this point. I like focal lengths and depth of field to behave a certain way so I want a full frame sensor for that. Image quality wise, I haven't needed anything bigger than APS-C since the Pentax K-5 for what I do.
@@RoastBeefSandwich Full frame cameras and especially the lenses are like those old brick cell phones to me now. They don't work any better and they cost a lot more. are bigger, and heavier and fell like "old tech" 🙂
I still haven't purchased the XT5. I'm thinking of getting rid of the GFX50R. I think Fujifilm is doing us a disservice by not making a pro level 10-24 that competes with the canon 14-35 or nikon 14-30. The MTF charts on Fujifilms website clearly show that the 10-24 is not on the same level as the 16-55. The 8-16 doesn't take normal filters and is ridiculously heavy for apsc. For landscape work I would like to have the XT5 with the 50-140 and the 10-24 if it were pro level. That is my hang up. Every full frame system has a great f4 wide angle zoom that is sharp. I'm waiting patiently.
I've been very happy with my 10-24mm. It may be sample variation. I know my 10-24mm Fuji lens was sharper than 3 24-70 F4 Z lenses that were all de-centered right out of the box.
@@Razertw If they released that tomorrow, I wouldn't buy one. The current version does everything I ask of it. I think there's some sample variation. If you get a good copy, it's quite good on the 40mp sensor. A few of my portfolio shots this year were taken with the 10-24 WR and XT5.
Great tips! I’m curious do you use the DR 200 & 400 exposure setting much or at all? Also, what happened to your iFootage tripod and the Acratech pano head?
Thanks! I've never used the DR 200 or 400 setting. The iFootage tripod is over in the corner. I use it with my Pentax 67, 4x5 and 8x10 film cameras. I have enough experience with the 40mp X-T5 and X-H2 now to know that the smaller and lighter Gitzo 1545 is enough tripod to ensure sharp images so I save on the weight and size.
Hi Ed nice to see you again. I really enjoyed it, as always.
Commenting to show some support. Love your content. Thanks as always.
Very much appreciated!! Thanks!!

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography Ed I just rented an X-T5 for the rest of the week and so far I'm in love.
@@RoastBeefSandwich Get the trial of DXO's Pure Raw 3 or Photolab 6 for 30 days and watch the XT5 images equal full frame... 🙂👍👍

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography I hear what you are saying. I just wish the 10-24 was a red badge lens like the 16-55.
Maybe they'll come up with a mk III version with improved optics in like 5 years, as the resolution is increasing.
