It's cause the UK does really bad in the PISA tests in Maths and English hence why we changed Maths and English first to the harder 9-1. Also doing my GCSEs rn kinda wanna cry after further maths aqa
l V•CKY l The noble gas and outer shells questions are the easier ones from the start of the papers. Try and find some from the middle or ends of papers for proper representation.
Natalie Cheung nope check the new papers and you will know they were much harder, back then you had coursework and controlled assessments now it is all exam based , and they changed the spec for a reason that was to make it harder
these are past gcse questions they have just made them 10x harder and we learn about outershells and noble gases in year 8 😂 Edit- thanks for the likes?? 😂
Yh but this year is the "guinea pigs" for all you lot. If we fail, then you won't get the new system. Forget the actual exam I feel like more people are wishing we fail than anything + you get more preparation time. But yea the spec for you lot is incredibly hard
Yeah well id rather be learning it in year 8 than be in year 10 now which I am and have loads of science and loads of hwk every week coz we have never had to learn half the gcse till a level before 😭😭
you should do something along the lines of "are you smarter than a 5th grader?" but gcse version based on the a levels the particular person did when they were younger
When Alfie said "how many electrons in the outer shell? Don't worry that's not GCSE that's A-level", I don't think they know that GCSE's have been made harder, I'm doing this in Year 9 so ... 😂
I think that you should do the GCSE questions with Saffron Barker because she is 16 and has left school now so it would be really cool to see how many she actually gets!
hey there at least at a level you have chosen to do all your options yes the work is harder but at least you don't have to study for 10 gcses half of which you don't care about!
Beth ! that's a good point tbf , but some subjects that I chose like geography are completely different from GCSE and contains way more essay writing and so I don't enjoy it as much.
I am laughing so much at how you are getting these wrong!!! I am learning them now! You should definitely do this as a series! Do it with Louise she would be so funny !!! Ur such a good pair to do videos with and I really hope u upload more on your PB account!!!!!!!!
They don't realise these questions are the easiest of GCSE... Outer shell electrons is GCSE and it's not even the hardest bit! They should try some standard or hard GCSE questions next time!!
Did anyone do the foundation maths paper mock? It was terrible and the grade boundaries were stupidly high so everyone in the country struggled badly. They've lowered them though so might be better now! And I done a literature exam mock yesterday. An inspector calls was fine but poetry was a little bit more difficult. We had to compare exposure and I compared it to bayonet charge. Idk if you guys have the same books and poems ofc but we are using the power and conflict cluster
Do the new GCSE syllabus like the maths gcse questions cause trust me that stuff way harder (cries when i realised if being a few years older could have avoided doing an English gcse with no books or poems😢)
youtubers to do this with: Joe Sugg Caspar lee Oli white Mark Ferris Tanya burr Connor Maynyard Jack Maynyard you dad you mum Zoella Joey Graceffa oli whites brother james
Electrons in the "outer shell" is in GCSE. 7-X=9 is literally the most basic question ever in GCSES now. Try rationalising the denominator. The sine and cosine rule are now all in GCSE math. A-level material is being moved to GCSE. The "geography" question about the earth's layers is in science. GCSE has me dead. Just shows you how much the education system is changing.
Sine and cosine rule were in gcse before 9-1 same as rationalising the denominator, the only things from a level moved down is Venn diagrams, equation of a circle, iteration and rate of change which at a level are like 1 mark questions.
A noble gas has a full outer shell. So Helium is a noble gas because it's first shell (which is its outer shell, because it only has 2 electrons) has a full outer shell. The shell capacities starting from the middle working out is: 2, 8, 8. I haven't learnt past that yet but if I continued Chemistry in Grade 11 and 12 i would have learnt more. I still don't know how i know this
Use 2×n^2 to calculate how many electrons a shell contains. (The "n" stands for the number of the shell starting from the first) For example: Shell 1 (K) = 2×1^2 = 2 electrons Shell 2 (L) = 2×2^2 = 8 electrons Shell 3 (M) = 2×3^2 = 18 electrons
Joe and Marcus are must!! Whenever you do this, please do it with one of them first! I feel like they both are really intelligent and I wanna see them do this! 💕😊
My exams are beginning in May. They are stressing me out do much, currently this week I'm sitting mocks. My English and maths Exams are now graded using 9-1 instead of A*-U that isn't even the worst of it. For English we have to sit 4 different papers 2 language and 2 for literature. In maths we have 3 exams. Science we had 6, 3 for core that includes biology, chemistry and physics then we have it again for additional science. I now also have to sit a textiles exam along with the coursework of making a dress and the folder work to go along with that. I then sit a computer science exam that I'm not planning on passing currently getting E's hopefully my coursework will get me up to a pass. I sit 2 exams for religious studies. My final examination is drama I take this as an extra GCSE after school hours we are currently working in a divided piece focusing on the issues of LBGTQ+ this is apart of our coursework we then also have an exam. If that isn't a lot I don't know what is 😅
kirsty 01 my sister did her mocks last year and got D's, in the real ones she got most a*,a's and b's she says don't worry about if you get bad results in mocks
kirsty 01 I'm doing mocks w/c the 13 of March and for my final exams I'm doing English and maths, 9 science exams core, additional and further additional, two history exams, three psychology exams, one computer science exam (my dilemma is similar to your there, I'm getting D's in the theory but because my coursework is an B and the other one an A, I'm hoping I get a C in the real exam so I get a B overall, but will probably get a D in the exam and a C overall!) I'm also doing an extra qualification but have gained 25% of it already, and got 100% on it! I have 22 exams in the final months, with two in the first week, 6 in the second week, and 8 each in the last two weeks! Soooooooo (not) excited! I'm so worried about mocks and worried I'll end up with C's or B's when I'm not aiming for that :(
It's not saying that the people are stupid or have forgotten, it's saying that the things we get taught is stupid! I would have been way better off if they would have taught me how taxes work, how to drive, how politics work, how to be an adult etc. Not all the STDs and like 90% of the math which I've never ever used since.
SwedishFishBjd i think math teaches us how to think logically and critically. same with other science subjects. also, many people continue education at scientific universities where they use math all the time. and those people are the ones creating the super cool tech that everybody uses. i totally agree with you, subjects taught in school should focus more on life. yet everyone has to get a basic level of education :)
Electrons in outer shells is the first topic in the GCSE syllabus it's not A Level... It's nearly always the first and easiest question on the paper 😂
Pixie- Rose if they even make it onto the paper, maybe first in foundation😅
Pixie- Rose I learnt it in primary 😂
I wish GCSE's were that easy these days. otherwise I'd be getting A*'s
electrons and noble gases are the easy part of GCSE chemistry haha, clearly the level has been elevated since 10 years ago
sorry but u sounded so...pompus when u said elevated pmsl
It's cause the UK does really bad in the PISA tests in Maths and English hence why we changed Maths and English first to the harder 9-1. Also doing my GCSEs rn kinda wanna cry after further maths aqa
actually they have made gcse harder from this year since they changed the grades to numbers
420
Christine O'Neill I
I WISH these were how easy GCSE questions are!! I'm in Yr 11 and things like outer shell electrons in a noble gas are basic stuff we need to know 😭
Esme Morgan that's easy we read Peter Sykes, JD Lee, Peter Atkins here in India
I’m in my second term of year ten and We already have gone into depth with most of what they discussed 😂
When i was in year 8 i already covered everything they mentioned... Now im in year 10 😂
Esme Morgan I know that stuff and I am in year 9!!
We're learning them in year 8 now 😭😭
If GCSEs were as easy as outer shells and noble gasses I'd be getting A* s
l V•CKY l SAME
l V•CKY l same 😂😂😂
literally trust meeeee
l V•CKY l The noble gas and outer shells questions are the easier ones from the start of the papers. Try and find some from the middle or ends of papers for proper representation.

Nelly Bear Oh my god yes I'm in year 10 and I new that in year 9 😂😂
Nelly Bear YES! X
I learnt the electrons thing in year 7/8.
OH MY GOD THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!!!!
As a current gcse student this is actually fun to watch 😂
they chose ones from like 2010 when gcse's were easier, they made them 10 times harder now
actually, 2009 and 2010 gcses were harder than the ones now. do some past papers and you''ll know
Natalie Cheung nope check the new papers and you will know they were much harder, back then you had coursework and controlled assessments now it is all exam based , and they changed the spec for a reason that was to make it harder
Derptato yes poor poor everybody in year 11 and 10

idk why this comment got so many likes 😂😂😂
"How many electrons in the outer shell?" Is now something you learn before GCSE's as it is an easier part of the exam 😂😂
Jasmine Leslie exackly! 😂
Jasmine Leslie learn it? nah it's one of the few things I remember without learning 😂😂
you should do something along the lines of "are you smarter than a 5th grader?" but gcse version based on the a levels the particular person did when they were younger

The Cookie Jar I'm learning this in year 10 😂
So sad this idea was never actually made into videos 😂
7-X=9 so X=-2 That's the easiest GCSE question I've ever seen
Pixie- Rose I was still so proud of myself for knowing that though
Pixie- Rose I learnt that in primary so I agree
Anonymous 101 ikr
Oh, i did this way
7-X=9 so X=9+7=16
you people do realise that the answer is -2 and not 2 OR 16 (maria hilario)

Nelly Bear so true🙃 and we have to memorise all of the equations. Hopefully they lower the grade boundaries. 🙏🏾
Holly Sutton lol just wait till ALevel English, 40 poems and 4 books to memorise
lilyrobertshi for English literature or language?
Did anyone do the foundation maths paper mock? It was terrible and the grade boundaries were stupidly high so everyone in the country struggled badly. They've lowered them though so might be better now! And I done a literature exam mock yesterday. An inspector calls was fine but poetry was a little bit more difficult. The maths higher mock wasn't bad , but I hated the English language mock 🙄
“How many electrons on the outer shell? No I’m joking, that’s not gcse”
He has no idea how times have changed since he was in school😂😔
Bella Johnson Jackson It was a gcse when he was in school too. He just can't remember.
Do the new GCSE syllabus like the maths gcse questions cause trust me that stuff way harder (cries when i realised if being a few years older could have avoided doing an English gcse with no books or poems😢)

Emily Harrison this 'alevel' material has been in the higher GCSEs for a while now, GCSEs are getting harder each year and so are alevels😭😭
Sine and cosine rule were in gcse before 9-1 same as rationalising the denominator, the only things from a level moved down is Venn diagrams, equation of a circle, iteration and rate of change which at a level are like 1 mark questions.
GCSEs are fucking easy
Not from this year onward, they have increased the difficulty of the GCSES by taking away all coursework and adding in a-level material.
Try and move to Spain and try our maths haja
Please carry on doing this series really often because it's actually helping me revise for my gcses whilst watching 😂
You need to get dan and Phil doing a GCSE test😂
YES!
I think you should do it with
Marcus
Mark
Louise
Joe
Casper
Sacconejolys
Andrea Sheehan all of them!!!
Andrea Sheehan yh
Andrea Sheehan yeaaa
Andrea Sheehan yas
And poppy
Do GCSE questions to joe sugg😂😂 that's gonna make me laugh so hard
1 years gone and I see no new series 😂
you should do it with the sacconejolys but also their children, it would be funny to watch them try to understand the questions
Jd Shahabi YAASSS
Jd Shahabi I absolutely agree I would luv to see that
exactly, the children wouldn't understand it but would continue to confidently give bullshit answers which would make it hilarious
Jd Shahabi saccone jolys !!!!!!!!!
Please do this with Tanya!!
Ange Siakeu oh that would be good
A noble gas has a full outer shell.
I still don't know how i know this
Genevieve Crees The different shells like 2,8,3 is called the electron configuration. A-level chemistry did me brilliantly XD
Jordan Randell-Tredgett this is basic GCSE now 🙄
Nathan Panda Not even basic GCSE lol. You learn this in year 7 now.
Vidushi Gunarathna phhhh yeah right, im in year 8 and i didnt learn that
Use 2×n^2 to calculate how many electrons a shell contains.
(The "n" stands for the number of the shell starting from the first)
For example:
Shell 1 (K) = 2×1^2 = 2 electrons
Shell 2 (L) = 2×2^2 = 8 electrons
Shell 3 (M) = 2×3^2 = 18 electrons
Joe and Marcus are must!! Whenever you do this, please do it with one of them first! I feel like they both are really intelligent and I wanna see them do this! 💕😊
DO IT WITH JOE SUGG , OLI WHITE , OLI WHITES'S BROTHER JAMES , CASPER
But James didn't do his GCSE's yet..
Billie-Jo James is in year 9'isnt he
Kiran Grewal How does this system work? Im in Ireland and its totally different
Also I wanna see Tanya
