It was created by kru fishermen who worked around the coastal areas. They actually talk Jacob sam guitar which he used to make his song yaa amponsah. Odonson rhythm cuts across other African country rhythm. Countries like Nigeria,South africa use this rhythm too

@@SFSGH I hold a contrary position. I believe odonson is originally a form from the seperewa music tradition. At the juncture of the guitar tradition meeting the seperewa, it was transferred onto the guitar. See Collins (2006) and Nketia (1994)😬
