I used a Major a lot when I was a teenager considering their era there was nothing to touch them until the early 70's. I was always amazed how easily they would start in any weather also. On paper the Major didnt have mega power like the tractors of today, but it took a pretty powerful 70's or 80's tractor to achieve their pulling grunt.
great video thanks for informing me about the SUPER MAJOR!! i love learning about all the new features. Big SUPER MAJOR fan since day one!!!! i have many SUPER MAJORS. SUPER MAJOR SUPER POWEERRRRR!!!
@@vincehealy7602 my personal favorite is the massy Ferguson 390. I Particularly enjoy the mf 390 for its reluctant reliability, and it’s sporty body lines
Wish Ford still made tractors.I like the Ford Dearborn line of farm equipment that they use to sell in the USA back in the 1950s It was good equipment for the money. I buy it now when I come across it.
I have a 1957 Fordson Major Diesel. The Major, unlike the Super Major, has only Drums Brakes, the governor of the injection pump is a vaccum type instead of a centrifugal type, the hydraulic doesn’t have the auto level feature, power is only 40hp instead of 54, and no diff lock. My Grandfather bough it almost new in 1959, and the tractor has been extremely reliable despite very poor maintenance.
I have listened lot of its merits from my Dad especially related to its massive and higher quitly material, low fuel consumption, awesome pulling power. Even today it is my dream especially due to its very classic look but it is very difficult and expensive to bring it to my motherland Punjab.
Just traded one together with a Ferguson te20 gasoline newpainted with 480 mm s reartires on for a MF 35x, runs ok, has a 6 m s constructionlift on it, but needs some new bushings and o rings here and there, and new rearaxle seals, started making a cab on it, and renewing the two instruments, must have temp and oilpress gauge on, maybe engine would like a test of the injection nozzles after 61 years and 8000+ hours on the meter, before someone liked to smash the glass.
Basically in specification, although thye look the same the Super Major came with differential lock and live drive hydraulics as well as a few other changes, it was the ultimate evolution of the Major first seen in 1952 that arrived in 1960
Don't know why this is advertised as a 'Tractor Barn Production' - all of this footage is actually taken from 'Second Sight Productions' who requested the original footage from the manufacturer, to use it under licence. I have the whole series on DVD.
None of the footage is taken from Second Sight Productions, it is Ford Motor Company promotional material that we have permission to use after compiling and writing the scripts for the DVDs for Second Sight Productions who are no longer in business. Naturally the same films are used and we use clips such as this to promote those original Second Sight Productions DVDs that we still sell on our website

Sounds very nice indeed!
i drove a major for years, out in the fields plowing good tractors.
I'd grab a Super Major even today. Great tractors.
Me too... Sick of expensive computerised modern tractors that cost a fortune to repair
I loved the Power Major.
Me too
I love my '63 Super...rock solid platform... Pre-OSHA of course :)
That tune is like from a 70s game show ….and Mr Smith you have won this weeks star prize ..The New Super Major …WHAT !
Buena maquina.
En los años 60 y 70 de lo mejorcito que había. 👍👍🇪🇦🇪🇦
My uncle bought Fordson super major tractor 1962,he died in 1989, and it is still with his grandchildren, but is a scrap...!
The major series of tractors are a good tractor.
Good old Super Majors, and then the stunning Major 5000
so good that victorian railways literally made locomotives out of them, the VR rail tractor
Cok kullandik pover majoru
I would still buy one today im sure allot of people would they are proven still around working
I agree. I have 1958 super major and it still works like a charm, wouldn’t trade it for anything
Would love a Super Major, mine is just a standard Major.

This tractor was the dogs b###ocks when i was a kid in the 60s.
What a spectacular machine
La verdad una línea que nunca pasa de moda es como el Ford 5000
I wonder if it was true when someone said their super major outperformed a 5000?
I rebuilt the engine on my father's super major and the 5000 couldn't pull the load like it.
Fordson E1A type majors will out perform a 5000 any day
Our super major is the gooderest tractor we ever had
Supergooderist !
Ha ha, I only drove it on tarmac. Very versatil
Super great! ⭐👍

Now that's what you call a tractor, the Fordson Major was a reliable workhorse in other words a grind stone.?
Superebro in Spain i have one
Cringeworthy song for world class tractor!
Hehe - I rather like it - it is of its time! Only problem is it sticks in your head!!!
