  • My first attempt ever at restoring a vintage guitar... did I mess it up?
Vox Standard 24 from 1982. A buitiful gutar in its day, based on the best attributes of both a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Statocaster. Only made for 3-4 years in the 1980's, so quite a rare thing.
This one beonged to my dear daparted uncle Mike, and was sitting in my Fathers Garage in pretty proor shape. I have some limited woodwork experience and a small woodworking shop at home, so I thought I would give it a go. It seemed like a nice thing to share on youtube, so I filmed the process and here it is, replete with some fairly major clangers, and some surprising wins.
Its been emotional, and rewarding, so I hope you enjoy it. And for a novice like me that is thinking of refurbishing or restoring a guitar, this will hopefully give you the confidence to start and show how to (and how not to) do it.

My only memories of Mike are ones of endless laughter. Always really generous with me and Chris too. Absolutely lovely fella. Went way too young. X
