I know Kirby Morrow, he guest starred in two episodes of The Outer Limits (1995-2002 series). He voiced Von on Escaflowne when it ran on FOX Kids b4 it was re-dubbed by Funimation. He's the original English dubbed voice-over 4 Miraku on Inuyasha. It's sad 2 hear that he is no longer alive. 😢
I think I read that episodes 27 and 28 were supposed to be the backstory episodes, but because one of the lead writers (I think) wound up quitting halfway through the series, so they just made both episodes as recaps of the first half of the series instead. The only new footage from both episodes was the crashed shuttle from the Lunar Base and Treize building Epyon.
When I was younger watching Gundam Wing, Trowa and the Heavy Arms were my favorite. This video has me feeling nostalgic. Also the background music for the transitions matching the anime "meanwhile..."👌
It was always the case, from my understanding. Episode Zero manga was supposed to be actual episodes in the series, but because of drama happening behind the scenes, Sunrise just made episodes 27 and 28 into recap episodes to keep the series going. When Trowa got amnesia, and after Catherine found him, they were referring to each other as brother and sister.
well damn. i kinda liked the whole adoptive sister/family dynamic. makes it more impactful when Trowa reciprocates and finds his place, adds intrigue as we don’t know how well Cathrine knows/takes care of Trowa when he gets Kamille’d [lite] like does she actually care? or is she manipulating him? like it seems like the right thing but also she’s actively in the way of goals in the story (in a good way). And when he does get his memory back (enough) it shows how much he does actually care and there’s more impact. but ah well i guess.
And the way in which they were supposed to find out was *wild*. It's explained in a blurb at the end of Episode Zero that Trowa has a large burn scar on his back that he didn't get in battle. (I've heard variously that it was either from the explosion that killed their parents and separated them, or that before that happened Baby Triton wandered too close to an open flame.) Anywho, Catherine was supposed to see it, and that was going to be the tip-off that he was indeed her little brother.
That is a good story. I always liked Trowa.... Save for his ammo dumping.. If he used his gums smarter he would have been able to take out many more mobile suits without running out of bullets.. It would be really interesting to see him in a mobile suit designed after his natural talents and abilities rather then "FIRE EVERYTHING" the gundam... Lol.. That said... if he ended up in a beam spam suit ( Freedom) he would be truly terrifying.
You are right this is the best out of all of the origins of the Gundam Wing pilots. It doesn't break cannon as opposed to the other three you've covered. Two things come up in this the first the captain's reaction to Trowa's abilities strikes me that maybe our Gundam Pilots, Zechs, and Treize were New Types given how talented they were. The other thing that struck me was Mindy Une could she really be Lady Une, given the fact she is older than Trowa but in the series which takes place years later Lady Une is also colonel Une. I think it fits Mindy had a heart and could love but the first person see saw was not only stronger than any man she had known but also broke her heart, hence why she only had eyes for Treize given he was the strongest man she has met after Trowa had broken her heart.
Some call Miliardo the Char Clone but I say Trowa was the true char clone. His mobile suit despite being a ballistic type Ms used deft agility and surprise attacks to overwhelm his foes
Excellent summary thanks for making this video the show was so fast paced for my brain as a kid that and toonami played episodes out of order all I cared about was seeing giant bots fighting and was like cool It wasn’t until watching encounters in space that I started understand what all the fighting was about I do know that the universes are separate they did a really good job I’m a huge fan of the 0079 - 0083 era
I’m not sure how I feel about Trowa’s past revealed in Endless Waltz. You’d think that someone would have recognized his name during the series, especially when he signed up with Oz.
While I liked - the idea at least - of the latter half of the story about Trowa and the mercenaries, the manga connecting Trowa personally to the Catherine character and the whole circus he'd eventually infiltrate felt... overly prequel-y? The kind of prequel-type story telling that tries to interconnect too much and/or explains aspects of a character which don't really need exposition. Trowa joined that circus in Wing because it was convenient to his goals as a Gundam pilot not because he was genetically circus-folk or something, while Catherine was just someone who empathized and cared for him as an actual human being and in turn she was someone who Trowa found he cared for as if she were family and... not his actual sister.
This I agree with. Trowa and Catherine never needed this. The Story still could’ve been told without her and still be perfectly fine. But now this context makes his connection to her feel so much more Incesty.

Considering what I've heard, it was basically a repeat of 0079 but if Zeon had Gundams and was a more guerilla terrorist faction and the Federation was more outwardly fascist.
Okay but the real lore we need is what's up with Dr. S's nose. It's been over 20 years since I first saw Gundam Wing and I'm still perplexed by that one.

All of the pilots feel like utter butt with Gundams but that goes infinitely so for Trowa. IIRC, *all* of the G-boys were originally *meant* to be Newtypes, but only Quatre actually ended up being one. (But never actually called such.)
