      If I had any disdain for Sterling it would be for how he handled the situation after.
      I truly believe Yan let go of the head and threw the knee in anticipation of Sterling to stand up. Thus catching the knee on his way up making it legal. Sterling was exhausted and beaten and did not come up after Yan released the head.
      Cheating I think not, poor decision I think so. Sterling was either getting finished or a unanimous decision.

    • @redeyestones3738
      @redeyestones3738 2 года назад +20

      @@knuckledragger2412 I agree with the points youve made. Just sick of ppl making sterling out to be such a heel. Things happen. Regardless of intentions, he caught an illegal knee, after the ref clearly told Jan that he was grounded. My only point is that ppl get all mad because of the decision, which is based on the rules of the sport. Hate the rules, not the fighter. Pride allowed any and all strikes, and a lot of the pride fighters continued fighting for years afterwards. That's clearly evidence that it isn't always a career ending situation. But the UFC is a giant corporation now, and they need to be careful about liabilities. That's the only reason the fight was stopped, and favored for sterling. Has nothing to do with the way he acted after the fact. The decision was made in an office, before this fight ever took place. That is to say, whenever there's an illegal knee to the head of a downed opponent, and it looks like he took significant damage, then it's over. A call made by the UFC attorneys, not a predetermined outcome for this particular bout. Unless the fighter who was kneed jumps up immediately, and shows the willingness to continue. Pretty straight forward.

      @mle1872 2 года назад +7

      @@redeyestones3738 Lol stop capping. If it was Nate Diaz, Cory Sandhagen, Dustin Porier, Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler and even Petr Yan himself, they would have still stood up to fight after some rest time. Some of these guys wouldn't even take a long break let alone throw the fight. And a lot of them have stood up receiving far worse damage. Even Demetrious Johnson, who got knocked out in a similar fashion to Sterling called Sterling a pussy for complaining for him because he thought it was a viable move, which I agree with. Let's be honest, if he wasn't getting so badly destroyed he would have stood up. But he knew at that moment it was the perfect opportunity to call it quits AND get the belt. It is a question of character, nothing more.

    I truly don’t understand how a fighter could be so outclassed the majority of the scheduled fight, and then win by DQ. Like a NC could understand but giving aljo the TITLE?? Most undeserved win in the history of mma and will likely never be surpassed as such

    Yan takes too much damage. He gets hit big and doesn't really react, but it happens often. Yan clearly has a problem with flying knees. Seems like he just... stands there. Willing to trade too much. That's why these decisions are going against him.
