    Very straight to the point, resourceful and with guides of app and software info. Seen a lot of videos and this one is straight to point with no half ass demonstration or rambling... Thank you! Curious though, DHCP feature I could of sworn I hear people turn off for faster/better service and speed... is this true or why keep it on? And that LAN Setup tab, I thought you would have to do what you did in this video under WAN? Sorry if so much questioning but figured you'd fill me in more.

      Thank you for your comment MixiChriS! I'm glad to ear it. Going straight to the point and give the info as fast as possible without any useless blah blah is exactly the purpose of this channel. :) I set a static IP to almost every device on my network to gain in stability. This doesn't increase the speed of the network. I keep a DHCP range available for new devices who arrives on the network, other way, I would have to login in the router every single time I want to add a devices on it. I did a video on one of my other channel about the way a network works. You may like to take a look at it. : ruclips.net/video/tDX-Adf9p_U/видео.html

    hopefully this is clearer. one example is at the 2:42 mark in the video it shows the starting ip address as 2 and the ending id address as 99. (of course I am only mentioning the last digits). Yet in some of the ip address below for actual devices they show an ip address above 99. Even in the voice over it refers to 99 being the highest ip address that can be given out. I think it should be around 254. Even the initial example of selecting an id address for the device I think you chose a number higher than 100 which is not consistent with the implied highest ip being 99 (see video at the time mark mentioned and the voice over which led me to think your route had a high ip address of 99). It would see lik the range should have ben 2 to 254 and not 2 to 99.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  5 лет назад

      Well this is what I wanted. Between 2 and 99, is the DHCP range. Mean that any new devices that come to the network will be assign with one of thoses adress. The one above it are actually devices that I manually give an IP adress on the network. I like to keep my device by cathegory so when I want to connect to them, I don't have to search what are their IP adress. Like my NAS, I always know they are a 190, 191, 192, 193 and 194. I will set my next one at 195. It's easier to manage.

    • @TurboSpeedWiFi
      @TurboSpeedWiFi 3 года назад

      No 99 is the highest that will automatically be assigned by the router. This is what a DHCP scope / range / pool is. Addresses above that can be manually allocated to specific devices using the method shown in this video.

  • @HugDeeznueces
    @HugDeeznueces 4 года назад +1

    dude! talk about the advanced tab and the static address section. wtf is the difference?
    If I want to assign specific addresses, do I use the static section? I have 27 devices that I have and want to set my own static ip from a specific range in the router.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  4 года назад

      Hi Rob, I don't understand your question. If you want specific adress for your 27 devices, just do as I made in the video.

    Hello, I’ve been having issues with Sonos and Wemo Smart plugs since I recently updated to Netgear WiFi router. I find myself having to reboot my modem and WiFi router every day because it loses Sonos and Wemo connection. Once I reboot everything, it works for about a day, then I have to repeat the process. Will creating a Static IP help this resolve this problem? Thank you in advance for any ideas.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  5 лет назад +1

      Well, I never use Wemo, but about Sonos, my first recommendation is to have at least one device connected Hard Wire. Then yes, having your speaker on a reserved IP adress can improve it's stability. All of my device at home are on a reseve IP adress.

    Your dhcp ip start from .2 and end .99 and then you assign the ip end with .101? 😮

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  Год назад

      Yes.
      What you see from 2 to 99 is the HDCP pool reserve for the router to automatically assign to the devices that connect on it.
      So when you manually add devices, I think it's just logic to start doing it after that range. There is no problem to go up to 254.
