OK, Janet Jackson’s career definitely isn’t wrecked. Have you seen how fast her concert tickets sell out lately? If anything, she got _more_ publicity after that incident.
@@COMPFUNK2 they ruined 20 years of her career over the BS. YOU take 20 years being essentially demoted in your career, while no on else suffers consequences and then come back and pretend it was nothing
Honestly the Janet Jackson thing is proof of what’s wrong with the world. Justin Timberlake should’ve gotten just as much crap as she did, but notice the underlying theme Men do bad shit they get praised; Women get crucified 😑
Exactly!!! You took the words right out of my mouth. I hope Justin Timberlake is finally receiving condemnation for his behavior. One can only go karma-free for so long...
One dishonorable mention is Megyn Kelly and her controversial "Blackface" comment on "Megyn Kelly TODAY". Her show was immediately cancelled and NBC terminated her contract soon afterwards.
Ashley hurts a little. I feel secondhand embarrassment for her. She had a pretty voice. I liked some of her songs. And her career was actually over after that unlike some of the others on this list.
"It's hard to mess up more than Jenny Slate?" Excuse me but she said it by accident. Unlike Charles Rocket (who SNL was grooming to be the next Chevy Chase) saying the f-bomb on purpose. He was fired from SNL and I believe got an FCC ban not allowing him to be on television for three years. Sadly, Rocket committed suicide in 2005.
Does anyone actually sing live on "Saturday Night Live"? I know in "Top Of The Pops", all the acts are singing to recordings, as the producers want the music sound crisp for TV. It's common practice.
Ashlee was actually a decent singer. She might not have reached the level of success Aaron Carter had when he was a kid BUT as far as being in a public eye she likely wouldn’t have been as controversial as Jamie Lynn.
So glad that Janet bounced back. JT being invited back to the Super Bowl is total BS though. As if he wasn’t part of that whole debacle. He should have insisted that Janet return with him.
It’s amazing how the respect that you had for somebody before totally shifts, I don’t look at them in the same light anymore. Especially when cheating on your spouse/thefts/lying, etc, have happened. I admire more being real about it, no need to lie/make excuses/cover it up. George Lopez is another one. I don’t respect him anymore. 😅
I stopped watching Paula Deen over this racist time. I then popped on her RUclips channel during covid, and was so grossed out over her cooking habits…fingers licked after tasting her recipe, and sticking fingers back in here and there….PALEEZE Paula! Ugh.
Amy Heidemann was off-key with her adlibs at the beginning of the first performance, but it got better as it went on. And I thought the second performance was pretty good too. I think the real issue was that back then, people weren’t really ready for white female rappers (Northern State, anyone?).
@dominicwileman when has she been prevented in anyway from speaking about abuse? That’s the whole point. She hasn’t. She’s throwing minority women under a proverbial bus that didn’t even exist lmao
@dominicwileman that doesn’t make sense. If she had been prevented from making music glamorizing abuse then she wouldn’t have lyrics like ‘he hit me and it felt like a kiss’. Someone calling out your behaviour and expressing a dissenting opinion is in no way being prevented from doing something. That’s like me saying you’re preventing me from expressing my opinion because you disagree with me. It doesn’t make sense.
I often take the word of "ex-employees" with a grain of salt. The one against Deane might be true, or revenge by a fired employee. Someone just making an allegation doesn't make it true.

Well it took years for her to get back.
@@ChillHills I don’t know about that.
@@COMPFUNK2 There's a whole documentary about the incident and her downfall and redemption.

Janet's career is never ruined in my eyes, love her forever🥰
Every time I see Ashley Simpson do her little dance on SNL, I immediately think of the Family Guy parody where she starts singing Old Man River, lol 😂
If Jenny Slate is a successful actor and comedian now, how does she qualify for this list?
right? how was her career ruined? she's doing quite well
Please Janet has had 2 COUNT EM 2 Sellout world Tours. She’s doing just fine.
Ashlee deserved better. So many singers lip sync on live tv when they aren’t feeling well. Hell, look at Britney!
Ya it always seemed pretty arbitrary to me even at the time
To be fair for Janet,...Justin accidentally exposed Janet's breast. Janet didn't exposed her own breast on purpose.
I KNOW!!! Justin should be here not Janet.

Why on earth would you say Ashlee Simpson was punk rock?? 🤣
One dishonorable mention is Megyn Kelly and her controversial "Blackface" comment on "Megyn Kelly TODAY". Her show was immediately cancelled and NBC terminated her contract soon afterwards.
Yet she still gets regular work.
that should have been on here instead of janet jackson.
Ashley hurts a little. I feel secondhand embarrassment for her. She had a pretty voice. I liked some of her songs. And her career was actually over after that unlike some of the others on this list.
Ashlee Simpson…NOT punk rock.
Fergie's rendition of the national anthem was absolutely the worst thing I've ever heard! Extremely disrespectful to American's everywhere!

Ashlee Simpson will go down in history as the biggest laughing stock in pop-rock history.
Ashlee Simpson is married to one of Diana Ross's sons.
Really? I assumed it would be Milli Vanilli.
I knew Robin Thicke wrecked his marriage, but his career?
Idk about his career either he could make a come back. Also this list is weird Jenny Slate is doing fine
Janet's career is doing just fine, but Justin is the one who should have faced backlash, not her.
Ashlee Simpson’s ‘dancing’ is still laughable to this day 😂
Nowadays, we use auto tune to lip sing.
They're still lipsyncing over live recorded tracks.
Auto tone has been around for almost 30 years and it’s ‘lip sync’
Lip sync !!!!
Did you guy just seriously call Ashlee Simpson "Punk Rock"? AYFKM!!!!?
Fergie deserved that dragging. She chose to be "different" and ended up murdering that song in the worst way. My ears are still ringing
Ashlee was actually a decent singer. She might not have reached the level of success Aaron Carter had when he was a kid BUT as far as being in a public eye she likely wouldn’t have been as controversial as Jamie Lynn.
Fast forward and 2/3 of artists are using vocal tracks live. Ashlee was robbed.

Don’t say that Janet exposed her own nipple. Because she didn’t.

Why, why WHY do you media outlets refuse to learn your lesson about Janet Jackson? It wasn't her fault!!!!
Aw i feel bad for Queen Herby, she is so talented, i had no idea she was on SNL.
Kelly Osborne

Not really. Especially since Iggy Azealia was around in 2010s. But Iggy Azealia has a completely dofferent look.

Lana's "flop" performance only helped her career to skyrocket. She shouldn't be in the same list with the rest of them.
I’m surprised they didn’t bring up her dumb letter where she calls out black women for not letting her be sexy and glamorous 😂😂😂😂
