Finally. I’m a former scientist and used HeLa cells throughout my education and career, never knowing that they came from Henrietta Lacks. I was so angry when I did find out and also became aware that the company NEVER compensated her family. It’s never too late to do right.

Happy that this happened but I'm wondering how much they got? I bet it was mere crumbs compared to how much the companies profited from it.

I read the book on the history of this woman twice now. The amount of BS and lack of credit they all had to go through was unreal.

I read Skloot's "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," and it was a very moving book. I was so angry that it took this long for the Lacks to finally get justice. It's never too late to do the right thing. I wish Deborah Lacks were still alive, but at least, the family is still around to see Henrietta's story be told and to receive compensation due to them after the biotech companies made billions over her cells.

I remember reading biographies on Ms Lanks in high school as I was considering different fields of medicine. I hope this is the beginning of offerings to her family with many more to come.
