She wasn't abusing her victims on school premises. It was via online games and social media, probably in her home as well. If you can't trust your child's teacher, that's a huge societal concern. Children are easily swayed with promises of reward and are reluctant to talk to their parents when on the verge of becoming teenagers. The 17yr olds were probably manipulated by promiscuity they found exciting. Who knows how many kids were afraid to admit they were affected through fears she instilled. The fact that she was a teacher and a mother makes the situation more difficult to grasp than most. Sick and depraved - she'll probably serve her sentence but do it again when she gets out.
What do you think, relatives wouldn't do what she did? from what i've heard numerous crime experts say, it's more likely that someone familiar, like family, would be more likely to commit such acts, because of the already established trust....and there are MANY documented cases where the deviant is a family member.

When I was 13 or 14, we had a wonderful female teacher, who organised a horse riding day trip on a weekend. She communicated with our parents, they gave permission in writing, they knew exactly where we were going and we actually had the best time. She did it out of kindness, she had horses and we loved horse riding. Never anything inappropriate in anyway, we had a day of laughs and great memories for me nearly 50 yrs later. I remember vividly all singing to rock music in her car. She was a brilliant teacher to us at high school. This was in Australia in the 70’s. She wasn’t that much older than us, maybe only 23.

When I contact a minor for any reason, I ALWAYS cc the parent. And usually I don't even contact the child directly, unless they and their parents are well known and the child is practically an adult, and the conversation is an expected one (example: when a teen is a youth league referee and discussion on referee availability. ) But even then, I cc the parent.

I only ever saw or communicated with my teachers at school, can't think of any reason it should be otherwise. Communication outside of school should be with the parents only
When I was 13 or 14, we had a wonderful female teacher, who organised a horse riding day trip on a weekend. She communicated with our parents, they gave permission in writing, they knew exactly where we were going and we actually had the best time. She did it out of kindness, she had horses and we loved horse riding. Never anything inappropriate in anyway, we had a day of laughs and great memories for me nearly 50 yrs later. I remember vividly all singing to rock music in her car. She was a brilliant teacher to us at high school. This was in Australia in the 70’s. She wasn’t that much older than us, maybe only 23.

What makes you think his child will have a child at 12/13. If anything I could see it being more likely that his child doesn’t have children until later in life so they don’t go through what their Dad went through.

Teacher is 39, this means she will not get out of prison until she is 64 (25 yrs in prison). 12 yr old father will be 37 when she gets out, and his child will be 25 years old!! (That’s a 27 year difference in ages)!!!!! 12 year old fathers parents are raising the infant, how do you explain this to the infant kid when he grows up!!! So very sad for everyone all around! (I also feel bad for the husband of this woman and her kids as they grow up!!!) (see his face in doorway as she gets arrested).

When I contact a minor for any reason, I ALWAYS cc the parent. And usually I don't even contact the child directly, unless they and their parents are well known and the child is practically an adult, and the conversation is an expected one (example: when a teen is a youth league referee and discussion on referee availability. ) But even then, I cc the parent.

She didn’t make the 11yr old watch, he was waiting for his friend to finish (pun intended). 20 yrs sentence was too harsh, considering the circumstances, 5 yrs max would’ve been appropriate.
