As a Texas fan, a one-loss Indiana team should make it over a two-loss SEC team unless that SEC team loses in the SEC championship. If you are a SEC team and want to be in the playoffs, then be better than the 6th best team in your conference. If you want regular season and conference games to matter, you can’t let 6 teams. Let a team like Indiana have their Cinderella season. This is why the expanded playoff is so great; the importance of regular season games has increased to 15-20 games instead of only about 6. You would not be at Arizona St if it wasn't for the expansion.
Josh, your shows are consistently the best college football content available. You absolutely bring it, and it's NEVER boring. Once you "lather up" you don't run out of soap. Keep it up. I really appreciate your work. Without question, "Cream of the crop."
Hey Josh, I agree with your point about ranked wins and that wins over teams just outside of the top 25 are better than teams in the bottom 25. Would you like to see something similar in college football? -Zach H, Plano, TX
I am a die hard, 2nd generation Gamecock fan and I absolutely Love Shane Beamer and firmly believe that he will be, when all is said and done, the greatest HC in South Carolina history. That being said, because I am a HUGE college football fan in general, I think Kenny Dillingham has a really bright future and brings an attitude much like Coach Beamer to the game. I work nights and have for many years, so I relish the fact that I can come home from work on a Friday or Saturday night and still catch a late game live from Arizona or Cali or Wyoming or wherever. I have been fortunate to catch a number of ASU games over the last two years and Dillingham definitely has it going on. His teams play HARD and are passionate in the way they play. Dillingham and his teams are gonna make some noise and I wish them the best - that is what college football is all about !

Underwood going to Michigan is crazy. A bit surprising too, I know he’s from Michigan but of all places Michigan isn’t the destination Im looking at if I’m a star qb.
Not to mention the front office is completely different. Not only is Michigan not a contender anymore, but they also haven’t shown they can develop a qb. Very odd choice imo
I always respect how Josh backs up his opinions, but I feel like everyone is ignoring the fact that no SEC team outside of Texas is winning every game they're *expected* to win. If you lose to a tough team, fine. But we ignore the SEC major upsets and rip apart other conferences for losing competitively. I respect the idea that you take the best teams, but isn't that really close to picking playoff contenders based off of how many bluechips you have on the roster? you could lose games and the talent you recruit to brand you "better" will keep you in a playoff conversation? I know it is a stretch but not that far off from how people talk
Here is your logic based argument. They're ranked high in the preseason which ultimately inflates the conference matchups and impacts their rating for the remainder of the year unless they totally collapse. As you've said before with stubborn AP voters, people never want to admit that they misjudged a team. So, SEC teams with 2 losses don't drop as far and aren't dinged as hard and the reason? The same preseason bias. The SEC absolutely produces the most talent, I get that. That being said poll bias is a thing. Lastly, they play a shorter conference schedule and get an extra bye week by being allowed to schedule an FCS team and rest their starters. Big Ten teams for instance have to play a longer conference schedule and if they don't schedule a P5 for one of their non conference games they get hammered for a weak schedule. But they already play more FBS teams and more P5 teams then every SEC school every year. That's data point kind of matters, Josh. It's not nothing that we play more conference games and more BCS/P5 opponents BY DEFAULT and then are expected to schedule a tough non conference game. That, again, is BIAS. The fact that no one brings up their FCS games and shorter conference schedule is mind boggling.
I think the flood of players sitting bowl games for their NFL careers started with Jaylon Smith. He was brutally injured during Notre Dame’s bowl game against Ohio State, and players noticed that. They wanted to save themselves from getting injured and hurting their draft stock.
Here’s a “logic-based” take I can provide as to why I disagree with Josh as to leaving Indiana out of the playoffs at 11-1, and that’s how you play vs. who you play. If you told me Indiana deserved to be left out at 11-1 after losing to Ohio State because they won all their games against poor competition by small margins, I wouldn’t disagree. I think BYU is a prime candidate for something like this. But Indiana has destroyed their schedule. And we would not be having these conversations if you put an Ohio State logo on that team with the same resume and performance. Indiana has done everything they needed to do and more to be considered a playoff candidate, and a loss to Ohio State moving them below a 2 loss SEC team would be ridiculous. I agree that schedule needs to matter, but it also can’t be the only thing that matters. I don’t care what your schedule looks like if you’re dominating it top to bottom. We have the ability to deduce how good a team is, regardless of schedule. Indiana is as good as their record is, without a doubt.
No kissing ass, no blowing smoke. In my estimation, Josh is the among the very best in the business. Thanks for doing what you do every week for us Josh.
Because teams like Georgia Tech can’t say they have ranked win over Florida State with how bad they are this year. That is not a true ranked or quality win and we all know it. There has to be perspectives put in place instead of looking at a number.
currently, there are 11 rivalry games have playoff implications: The Egg Bowl (moved to Friday, sad face) Clean, Old Fashioned Hate (Friday) The Game The Old Oaken Bucket Game The Border War The I-40/Country Music Bowl The Duel in the Desert The Iron Bowl The Palmetto Bowl The Battle of the Jeweled Shillelagh The Lone Star Showdown i just want to sim to next week
With the expanded playoffs the majority of interesting games happen to involve playoff implications, hence a lot of playoff talk. College football isn’t the same that it was last year.
The question is, how OG are you? Are you under 100k subs, JP doing the show in Columbus, no Pate State in existence yet, no mood tracker yet, OG? lol cause I remember those days. So cool to see how far he’s come.
I just don’t understand all this playoff controversy being so bad and chaotic. I’m just sitting here like…. How was the BCS any fucking better? How was 4 teams any better? We’re talking about 1/2 teams missing the playoff because of some controversial reasons like it’s the worst thing in the world when 10 years ago half a fucking dozen teams that should’ve had a chance to play for a natty get slotted into the Orange Bowl or some such. And sure those big bowl games did mean a lot back then but idk.. I’d rather have a chance to play in a playoff to win THE prize then get slotted into a glorified consolation prize game. The perspective CFB fans like Josh are missing is learning to view making the playoffs as a prize in it if it’s own. I mean.. isn’t that just like the ‘gold old days’ you pine so hard for? The days where making a solid bowl game meant something? How about let making the playoffs mean just as much, because it does

Josh I’m sitting here with my newborn daughter watching the replay case she had the audacity to arrive on Tuesday afternoon! She’s sleeping soundly so I think she’s already a fan!
Regarding Indiana, we gotta be able to measure a team against the schedule they have. For example, their schedule is easy. Beating it as badly as they have is not so easy.
Right? And as far as in common opponents to their next game, a game that is supposed to prove if they are "legit" or not, Indiana has destroyed, Ohio St... Not so much (I.e. Nebraska, etc)
Exactly. He says it doesn’t matter how much they lose by. There is absolutely a massive difference between how much they lose by vs Ohio State like by 5 or by 35. The way they’ve handled those bad teams was honorable. For example they blew out Nebraska when Nebraska almost beat Ohio State in their house there very next game! Like what?!?!
Also I guarantee if Ohio St. Plays like they have all year where they barely score in the FIRST HALF, and end up with like 7 points in first half, they will not win against Indiana. Because Indiana will in fact have probably triple that score
SOR has Indiana ranked 6th. That means the average team would have a hard time going 10-0 to this point, and the average team would have an easier time going 8-2 in Tennessee's schedule.

Joey Galloway has always been the worst in the business. He is easily the worst homer of all the pundits out there. How he has a job in this industry is beyond me.
I thought this INDIANA/OHIO STATE game was a way for INDIANA to show their merit to be in the top 10. So how would resting their qb be behooving to the situation?
Ah Josh. As an Auburn fan I know this all too well, you said it yourself (Auburn this year is finding ways to beat themselves most games) and they also have lots of special teams issues and scoring issues despite being able to play well between the 20's. Points matter when conference games come up. Vanderbilt can come to Auburn and beat us by two scores, why cant Texas A&M? I think they do anyway.
You're not wrong in thinking they can pull it off the upset obviously any given Saturday but there's too much pointing in the negative direction for Auburn. Imo Vegas has the line wrong for this game just like I thought for Vanderbilt.
I think byes / home field advantage will largely avoid teams sitting starters for games, so we need to keep that in mind going forward if we change it... But honestly if a team earns the luxury of doing that it should be celebrated in my opinion... If Indiana beats OSU the "value" of Indiana - Purdue isn't gonna change if Indiana is resting a few starters...
Notre Dame fans just came at you because they know what’s coming. They know they don’t deserve a spot. They know they should be in a conference. But they’re losing it because they WILL get a spot. They’ll get a spot and these fans know what their football team looks like in these games. They don’t beat the top teams. Ever. and their fans are already trying to get ahead of the story
SOS needs to be top of list of things that go into deciding who is in playoff a team with a top 5 sos/sir deserves a higher spot than a team who sos/sor. Is 50th plus in the country Georgia played the hardest schedule name one team who can play that schedule and do as good of a job as Georgia even with our qb playing bad most of the games
I e heard people saying Indiana should forfeit the game Saturday because a forfeit in college football shows on record as a 1 point loss. If the committee looks only at scores then they have a 1 point loss and not a blowout loss.
If the powers that be fix schedule making, resting players wouldn't be a problem. That issue is a result of bad scheduling. It is not a result of playoff expansion.
"We don't have a contract with the sec... ANYMORE" Yeah espn out bid you and suddenly they can't suck off the sec enough what a shock. You want an argument? Georgia St can't beat a sun belt team and they can beat Vandy. Oklahoma St can't beat anything but a DUI charge and their meat and oh yeah Arkansas. Those teams both upset "playoff contenders" if your schedule is the playoff you lost to someone that can't make it... You're out. Texas has a worse schedule than either Indiana or Penn st. If they're the best the sec has then the sec gets 1 team maybe Georgia since they beat that 1 team. Cal beat Auburn at home. USC beat LSU and you guys wouldn't shut up about how LSU was going to make the playoffs two weeks ago. We had all sec playoffs and that's why Bama Georgia always wins. Scott Frost's UCF was a better team than Nick Saban's "lose to Auburn don't play in the conference championship and still get in because there's no bias" bama

I love the area for three months of the year 😂. I saw Georgia beat ASU out there years ago. Late September and it was hotter than Hades.
Shout-out to the Zevia can. Absolutely stole the show tonight.
34:35 same argument for Georgia, Great you got the schedule… now go win your games!
Being so adamant about Indiana not being worthy of the playoff before this game even happens is an interesting hill to die on
If they lose.
@@JR-pn7xnI’m aware
Ohio state has played more top ranked teams than anyone!! They WILL be there on the last night... Ohio state against the world 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 would not have it any other way..
The conference champion and runner up should be in and fight over the last three or four spots. No one should have to worry.
I REFUSE TO SHOP AT ACADEMY. because they don't offer a military discount.... sounds petty and id agree.... until after you been through it and have to deal with it daily. You tend to spend your money at places that support the military.
14:00 and this is why ESPN loses all credibility with me. Just sad smh. Like cmon, Josh I couldnt 100% agree with you. ESPN single handedly changed college football for mostly worst, and minor better.
So true.
@@VivaciousOM yuppp
The only good thing they've done is made the product more available to the masses and being able to view actual games. Otherwise they have destroyed the sport of college football
Joey Galloway has always been the worst in the business. He is easily the worst homer of all the pundits out there. How he has a job in this industry is beyond me.
Agree, he’s just not good.
I'm glad your hair faired OK in such rough conditions..........
Bro Josh is looking huuuuge those d1 facilities are treating him nice
I’m a Texas A&M fan and totally scared. Receivers are below average and injury to left guard Bisontis is killing us.
Only 8 of 18 teams of B10 teams have a winning record, but have 4 in top 5? Something does not add up!!!
Tough day for Josh and other LSU fans. As a Michigan fan, its pretty awesome.
You need it….pretty embarrassing QB situation this year for a premier program
As awesome as the coming NOA calendar and the release of the document? Going to be a great couple of weeks!
Yeah, that was a hard flip. Nobody should be mad at him (on the LSU side). You can't turn down that kind of money.
If the powers that be fix schedule making, resting players wouldn't be a problem. That issue is a result of bad scheduling. It is not a result of playoff expansion.
Sorry Josh, PSU is looking HARD at Minnesota. Big 10 is a tough conference. I see a Wisconsin style of game.
Pretty sure Tennessee beat Kentucky by 10 right? Not 7. 28-18
Should do a segment about the teams that improve from last year to this year not everything should be about the playoff

You’re as good as you played in your last game & how well you will play in your next game. ~ Danny Ford
Josh, I gave you a thumbs up, bc it's not your fault. However, it sounded like you had a 737 warming up behind you. 😊
I think it depends on what 10-2 team you put above Indiana. Cus like a 10-2 Texas not be going above an 11-1 Indiana
Kinda funny JP2 (the Pope Josh mentioned) had Mass at Sun Devil stadium lol. Might need to fly Josh out to the ND Army game to get some Holy Water though
The Zevia thing is killing me😂😂😂
The first time Josh said “shirt sleeve” I thought he just misspoke. But the second time he said it honestly shook me. Josh do you think it’s “shirt sleeve?” Is this some Georgia dialect I have never heard?
Go ASU. Coach won me over
Minnesota is also incredibly opportunistic which inflates their defensive strength. Penn State protects the ball, they win with ease. If not - oh boy.
The black shirt had me thinking I was watching the wrong podcast
Evidently your mind is made up on Indiana. I mean, watching ASU doesn't exactly strengthen your perspective on if Indiana is playoff worthy. Kinda devalues the "been all over the country watching the best in person " status of wisdom as well. But hey, I don't blame yall. Arizona is nice this time of year. I mean, I just got home from the Browns - Steelers game..... Brrrr.. Just saying
How is Penn State on upset alert damn near every week but then they have no good wins? Makes zero sense
Nice Zevia crane there, pal.
Stirring that Penn State upset pot? I guess there is a way for the SEC to get 5 teams in the CFP! 😆
Josh, 28 - 18 = 10
