Great video my friend. I plan on doing this come late spring. I actually got a chance to wheel with this jeep. Lucky he named it. We did a trail takeover ride together with Light Brite. It went to a great new owner that is using it as attended.
I believe the guy wheeling it was the winner of the truck if my memory is correct. Perhaps I should of said wheeled alongside this jeep.@@northridgenation
I installed a JT big bore kit with ram assist last year and it was a night and day difference. The steering is a lot more responsive and made the Jeep fun to drive. I recommend this kit for any one that drives a JL/JT. Great install video North Ridge 4x4.
Also just did the PSC on my Gladiator it really is a GREAT system specially after the place in Michigan screwed things up an obviously did. Know or do what I had originally wanted. Thanks an great video also thanks for the knowledgeable an professional work from HIGHLIFT OFFROAD In Cincinnati Ohio for fixing
You guys at. Northridge have always done me right an been helpful an I just had to say how honestly fantastic the PSC hydro assist is doing, if you only knew the issues an brake downs ,lost trips an costs. It know works an is giving me safe confidence to drive ,wheel an Overland.Truly Thank You
Great video, helped with a few of the areas where the instructions from PSC lacked. The radiator is now a cylindrical cooler and mounted on the frame rail behind the radiator as well as some of the hosing has been chanced in their kits. Their instructions haven't been updated though so made for a very confusing installation.
Hey Tim I remember you from 4 wheel parts my name is Les my wife and I met you at the Portland area store and the swap meets. I have the yellow 06 Unlimited Rubicon ,you probably don’t remember me but you offered me your tire cover for my Jeep when I first got mine. Looking at putting hydraulic assist on my Jeep I like your pricing ,looking forward to maybe seeing you ..LLee
hey! I see some people route the hoses going to the cylinder over the track bar and some other people under the track bar... what made you decide to go under the track bar? Thanks!!
I've never put a steering assist system on a jeep ,maybe when I do my next build it will be the second thing after the axles ,I didn't realize it was that complicated ...👨🏻🔧🔥🍆
Awesome system but longevity wise there is only 1 shop I believe could install or maintain it locally for me. Local jeep dealers would be confused along with most shops. I'll keep dreaming.
This is a great upgrade. However, the dial indicator of the factory steering box was done in poor taste as it was extremely misleading.. What that indicator showed was frame twist/movement. This is why you didn't bother putting a dial on the PSC box.. With that said, I do believe the factory aluminum steering box isn't going to hold up with large tires and/or off road for too long. Since aluminum is softer, it tends to "egg out" at the ends of the shaft, which then give you increased play, poor steering and failure. I had two factory aluminum boxes replaced before Jeep finally came out with the steel version I have now.
Yes, multiple different kits for the diesel, depends on your Jeep and your mods- PSC Big Bore Steering Kit Diesel: www.northridge4x4.com/part/hydraulic-steering-kits/sk691rbk1-oe-psc-cylinder-assist-ehps-steering-kit-w-factory-axles
@@Wrangzilla my incapable YJ sits on 40s, tons and 14" coilovers, I'm sure I can keep up just fine. It's been a great Christmas getting the PSC hydro assist. I like how the dana 60 kit has an 8" throw cylinder vs a 6" of newer jeep axles. It helps turn my big tires away from the harder trails.
They are the same as the 2021+ kits. There are many different kits depending on how your JT is equipped. @@northridgenation I have after market fenders and inner fender liners installed. Would that be a problem for your facility to install this kit considering the after market parts I have?
Those are not "10 millimeter bolts" or "12 millimeter bolts". The heads might measure about 10mm or 12mm, but that is not the size of the bolts. Bolts are correctly measured according to the shank of the bolt, not the head. Why? Partly because there are many different bolts with the same diameter and thread pitch with different sizes and types of heads. By mislabeling things and calling things wrong names you are teaching wrong ideas and bad habits to many people who do not know any better. It is better to use correct terminology and help to reduce the overall level of unnecessary confusion, rather than contributing to the massive mess of confusion that presently exists in the world.
I don’t mind DIY but at about minute 6 I decided this is one of those jobs that I’d pay someone to do.

Boss, did you have to adjust the steering play on the gear box? I have the same gear box and my steering as some play, it isn’t as responsive.
No adjustment needed, every PSC box we've installed has worked great from the get go.
A lot of work but well worth the time. Hard for me to go back to a Jeep without one when running 37"+ sized tires.
Great video, thank you for these. I have a diesel, wonder how different it is install wise.
The install is very similar.
Check out all the different variations there are for the diesels here:

Hi Lee, Tim says he remembers you and says hi.
PSC is definitely the way to go for hydro-assist on your Jeep.
Damn that's a lot of work
Where is the Dial indicator test with the PSC unit installed?
hey! I see some people route the hoses going to the cylinder over the track bar and some other people under the track bar... what made you decide to go under the track bar? Thanks!!
The hoses seem to route that way best on this particular install AND we had plenty of room between the trackbar and the housing.
That was incredible work.
Will this mod affect the way my gladiator tows?

The steering assist comes in handy when you are trying to steer 40s.
Does psc have a hydraulic assist for JLU 3.6 etorque? I didn't catch what engine the Gladiator has.
Can you add just the steering box to beef up your system?
Yes, go with the big bore steering system to start, then upgrade to the hydro ram assist if you need it in the future.

Do they make a kit that will fit the 3.0 diesel? Mainly pump I’m guessing?
Yes, multiple different kits for the diesel, depends on your Jeep and your mods-
PSC Big Bore Steering Kit Diesel:
www.northridge4x4.com/part/hydraulic-steering-kits/sk691rbk1-oe-psc-cylinder-assist-ehps-steering-kit-w-factory-axles
Can this psc steering be installed if I have swapped my 3.6 l for a 6.4 ?
Will the big bore kit work with a steer smarts sector brace?
No it won't. But then you won't need the snout brace anyway, the big bore box has a massive snout bearing.
Same question where is the diesel rubicon kit 🤔
The diesel kit should be available soon.
What would you recommend if I have an artec truss on my stock axle? Stock tie rod too.
JL/JT? What do you have for a track bar bracket? Raised?
Top mount drag link?
So glad my YJ doesnt have all this crap to be removed before you can actually work on it!
So glad I can actually do some serious off-roading in my JL.
