- With only two days to go, Republicans and Democrats are not any closer to striking a deal to avert a government shutdown. Meanwhile, House Republicans are still planning on holding their impeachment inquiry of President Biden. NBC’s Ryan Nobles reports for TODAY.

This is an example of why the country needs to do away with these two parties. Neither party does what's in the best interest of the American people. They bicker and fight to maintain best interests of their party and to maintain dominance and a stronghold.

Has anyone asked "If the government is shut down and no services will be provide, can I stop paying taxes to the Federal Gov?" Like the IRS isn't still collected $$$$$$$ in taxes? And wait for the politicians to use the word "Critcal" workers. So what they are tell us is, "If your not critcal, its a job that isn't really needed" And how about Federal Workers being off for a say 2 weeks. Cutting the grass and working on home projects. They get called back to the job and BINGO..............BACKPAY! Who in the private sector gets that deal?

I server 32 years in the Army. Prayers are with the military personnels and their families that will be caught in the middle if the shutdown goes into affect. This will have a negative impact on recruitment and retention.

They use military members and their families as a political pawn, but at the same time welfare beneficiaries still get their benefits. And it’s disgusting that they got to include all this funding for Ukraine and other nonsense when they just simply can just put a very modest budget together to find the government. Honestly, I don't think so. Federal money is froze, not state. State fiscal budgets are passed already. I know Social Security doesn't stop but that is never needed for a short term budget. Good luck to your child, keep fighting
