  • I recently attended Oracle Open World in San Francisco. I choose to drive out and back and changes to "SQL Developer" and "In-memory tables" aside, what I really got out of this trip was a renewed appreciation of our world and a full charge to my batteries. By the last day I wanted nothing more that to get back to my projects. This video is really for me. I'll use it to reconnect to those feelings for time to time, but I hope it triggers a little enthusiasm for life in you as well.

    Glad you could take a vacation. Thanks for sharing. The production values of your video are outstanding; great camera work and use of music. If that database job or boat building doesn't work out, you have another skill to fall back on. I been luck enough to have visited Canyonlands and Mesa Verda, very beautiful.

      craigleemehan Thanks. That was my first time to Lee's Ferry and I'd not been to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon since I was very young.

    Hi Doug, Well it certainly re invigorated me by just watching. I'm totally envious of the open wild lands in the States Living as i do in a rather claustrophobic UK. Liked the video and noticed you captured a lot of the same things I find interesting, boats, bridges, industry and choice landscapes. I had a neighbor that captained boats for owners wanting their boats to go from SF to Hawaii. They would fly over and meet their boats in the islands, then fly home and have their boats sent back. He told me it was stressful being responsible for those expensive toys. Also mentioned that there are a lot of tricky currents in SF bay.

    I guess you next vacation will be to the East coast and back. Thank you for sharing it with us. More people need to do what you have done instead of flying. I think as you did that they would appreciate the United States of America more. Can't wait to see the project progress. I have shared your videos with my Welding classmates and also my robotics club for inspiration.
    Keep up the good work, best of luck.

    Hi Doug!
    That vid is exactly of the type of vid which feed the dream we have, here in France, regarding America: a COUNTRY, a PEOPLE acting in a life which is not necessarily easy, but allowing everybody to find a way through, reaching the target of an intersting and fertile project. I don't know if you were aware of the benefit you provided to the viewers. I can testify that you gave me and my wife a lot whith these marvelous pictures, which are so consistent with a notion you support astonihingly with your project: THE PRICE OF EFFORT.
    Regarding Kay, this vid make me to understand that seeing her again is uncertian likely. But what is important are te things which are done, the things which are lived together. The period of life which is in front of us is microscopic with respect to the universal time. An intense past build foundations strong enough to withstand the future.
    My best wishes. All the best for you, dear Doug!
    François

    • @SVSeeker
      @SVSeeker  9 лет назад

      Thank you François. Yes, and very well said. Kay and I have traveled those roads many times so it was a great time to reflect, regenerate and move into the next phase of life. Building the boat's tanks. :) And Kay will be around, we still are in love, just on different paths. Learning to live alone and follow our dreams at this stage of life is a good skill for both of us.
